1 Skirt, 3 Different Summer Outfits for Under £20 (HEATWAVE APPROPRIATE)

Dressing for the summer heat isn’t easy. However, adding a few key pieces into your wardrobe can make it a whole lot easier. In today’s post I’ll be sharing 3 different summer heatwave-appropriate outfits using 1 key piece – a white skirt. And all 3 outfits cost just £20 altogether!

HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE!? I hear you ask… Well, I recently discovered a gem of a website called BlackBetty who sell high street clothes at huge discounts at 70-90% off. New items are added everyday, and although you don’t find out what brands you’re buying until you receive the items, you’re guaranteed great quality at super low prices. The items I received are from high street brands Reserved and Mojito and the quality of all the items I got feels great.

You can also get a further 20% off by using the code BIRD20 at checkout.

Outfit 1: Shopping Outfit

My first outfit consists of this bright pink sleeveless shirt from Reserved, paired with the white skirt I’ll be wearing throughout this whole post, also from Reserved. I think this would make a perfect outfit to go out shopping on a hot summer day. Reserved is a European high street fashion store and although I’d never owned anything from the brand before, I’ll definitely be checking it out in the future as I love the style and quality of these pieces.  The pink shirt feels really light and breezy, yet it still looks smart. The skirt is really comfortable and even though it’s a summer-perfect white shade, it’s not see-through which is a sure sign of its good quality.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Outfit 2: Smart-Casual Days Outfit

Casual dressing in the summer heat can be hard enough, but dressing smart is on a whole other level! For this outfit, I teamed my trusty white skirt with this smart-looking turquoise shirt from Reserved that would be great for wearing to the office or work meetings.  I love the front collar detailing and the colours pretty much scream SUMMER. Add a pair of nude coloured heels and you’re ready to sieze the day – no matter how hot it may be![/pipdig_padded_text]

Outfit 3: Summer Evening Out

The great thing about this white skirt is that it’s so versatile and it can literally take you from day to night. For my summer evening outfit, I decided to pair it with this tropical palm trees shirt from Mojito. I tied it up at the waist and rolled up the sleeves for a more summery look. A shirt like this is great for evenings, as the short sleeves can be unrolled into long sleeves and the shirt can be tucked into the skirt when it gets a little chilly!

How To Dress Smart in Summer & Damart Lace Jacket Review

For many years, I thought that dressing smart in summer was pretty much an impossible task. After all, the last thing you’d want to do during a summer heatwave is wear layers of clothes in the hope of looking well put together. However, along the years I learnt a few tips and tricks on how to dress smart in summer. Essentially, it’s all about investing in the right items for your summer wardrobe.

If you’ve got to wear a jacket, opt for lace.

I couldn’t think of anything worse than wearing a jacket in summer. However, certain occasions or events during the summer may require you to throw on something more than just a smart dress or ‘nice shirt and trousers’ combination. The trick here is to invest in a lace jacket. I’d been on the hunt for the perfect spring/summer jacket and found this beautiful pastel pink lace jacket from Damart. How gorgeous does it look!? The jacket also comes in a white shade, and is perfect for throwing on on chilly summer evenings or even during the daytime. It feels really light and comfortable as it’s got a little bit of stretch in it which I totally appreciate during the summer, and the quality feels great too! It’s also got light shoulder pads which makes it look even smarter.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Invest in linen and natural fibres

For years I’d stayed away from linen because it’s such a nightmare to iron. However, it’s totally worth the (slight) hassle as it’s just so breathable, making it perfect for summer. There are so many different linen items on the high street this year, and I couldn’t resist picking up this pair of paper bag waist linen trousers in the summer sales. It looks smart and pairs really nicely with the lace jacket.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Whatever you do, wear light coloured clothing

Dark colours, such as black and navy, absorb light and turn this into heat so it’s best to stay clear of darker shades during the summer months. Stick to light colours such as white or pastel shades that will reflect the sunlight and keep you cool.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Dresses and skirts are your best friends

I’ve pretty much got a trousers ban when it comes to dressing smart in summer – the only trousers I dare to wear in summer are very flowy, casual ones. So when it comes to dressing smart in summer, it’s much more practical, comfortable and smart to stick to dresses and skirts.

What’s your top top for smart styling in summer?

3 Refreshing Summer Shower Must-Haves

If you’re a regular reader of my blog and/or follow me on social media, you might know that I’m not a big fan of summer. Cosy nights in, hot chocolate, and long, hot baths are just some of the reasons why I think winter is better than summer. However, one of the things that I do love about summer is having refreshingly cool showers, and today I’ll be sharing my top 3 must-haves for the most refreshing summer shower.

1 – Original Source Lemon & Tea Tree Shower Gel

Original Source is one of my favourite brands when it comes to shower gels, especially in summer. The Lemon & Tea Tree Shower Gel is one of the zingiest, most refreshing shower gels I have ever used and it’s one that I have repurchased over many summers. The shower gel is made using 100% natural essential oils which gives it a really nice kick, and it also means that scent is 100% natural. This is perfect for those times when you need a little pick-me-up shower! Best of all, this is normally on offer for £1 from Boots. Shop here.

2 – Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Scrub

Who doesn’t love a bit of Soap & Glory in the shower?! One of my favourite products from Soap & Glory (apart from all their gorgeously scented body butters in the winter) is the Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Scrub. This has been a favourite of mine for a number of years, and no matter how many body scrubs I have tried, I always keep coming back to this! The Sugar Crush Body Scrub is made from smashed brown sugar and sweet lime oil, giving it a sweet citrus scent. It also contains skin-loving almond oil and macadamia grains to get rid of dry skin and leave you with the smoothest skin you’ve ever experienced (not even exaggerating!). Shop here.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_left] [/pipdig_left][pipdig_right][/pipdig_right][pipdig_padded_text]

3 – Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter Sunkissed Tint Body Lotion

Although keeping the skin moisturised during the summer is just as important as it is during the winter, I’m frequently tempted to skip this step after my shower. The thought of slathering a thick moisturiser over my body when it’s already quite sticky outside is enough to put me off the idea. However, the Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter Sunkissed Tint Body Lotion is just perfect for summer. First of all, it’s got a delicate sweet, floral scent which lingers on the skin for a good few hours after application. More importantly, this feels very lightweight on the skin, gets absorbed quickly and leaves the skin with a gorgeous sunkissed tint, as you can see in the photos above. The tint is streak-free and stays put all day – however it washes off in the shower, which is great if you don’t want to commit to a longer-lasting tan.

What are your summer shower favourites?

My Sunglasses Collection | Ray-Ban, Armani, Primark + More

As I wear sunglasses pretty much on a daily basis nowadays, I’ve accumulated quite a few pairs of sunglasses over the past year. Today I’ll be giving you a sneak peek inside my sunglasses collection, including all of my favourites!

I almost never wore sunglasses when I was younger. However, more recently I’ve found that my eyes have gotten more sensitive to sunlight – and the thought of being stuck outside without a pair of sunglasses makes my head hurt! In addition to this, everyone knows how important it is to protect your eyes from the sun’s harmful UV rays, and isn’t that just the perfect excuse to treat yourself to a new pair of sunnies!?

Ray-Ban RB3044 Aviator Sunglasses

The Ray-Ban RB3044 aviator sunglasses were my first ever pair of ‘proper’ sunglasses, which I got back on a trip to Rome in 2010. As these were quite expensive compared to any other sunglasses I’d owned, I knew I wanted to invest in a classic pair that wouldn’t go out of style – and 7 years on they are still one of my favourite pairs of sunglasses that I own! I decided to go for the signature gold frame/ green lens combination, and as I have quite a small face, I went for the small 52mm size which fits me perfectly. You can see what they look like on me in this post. I think it’s definitely worth investing in your sunglasses, especially when going for a classic style.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Ray-Ban RB3447 Round Flat Lenses Sunglasses

This pair of Ray-Ban RB3447s is one of the latest additions to my sunglasses collection that I bought earlier this summer – and also one of my favourites! Aren’t they just beautiful!? I never thought that I would be able to pull off round sunglasses, however these ones kept popping up on my Instagram feed until I finally thought I would give them a go. Apart from giving off a cool and casual vibe with their iconic round shape, it’s their colour which makes them even more special. The Copper Flash lenses, which give off a rose gold vibe, are just gorgeous. I love wearing these on fun days out! [/pipdig_padded_text]

Ray-Ban RB4184 Light Havana Sunglasses

This is my ‘winter pair’ of sunglasses which I pretty much live in during the colder and not-so-sunny months. As the lens is a brown gradient that is not so dark, it’s great for cloudier days when you want to reduce glare without everything looking super dark.  I love that this pair of sunglasses is slightly bigger than most of the other pairs that I own – perfect for no makeup days. [/pipdig_padded_text]

Emporio Armani EA4060 Sunglasses

Although these are quite similar to my Ray-Ban RB4184 sunglasses, above, this pair of Emporio Armani sunglasses also has a special place in my collection. Apart from looking super sleek and stylish with their large square shape, gradient brown lenses, and with the Armani logo added to the corners of the frames, this is my only pair of polarised sunglasses. Polarised sunglasses are great for reducing glare and enhancing the contrast of your vision in sunlight – they feel really easy on the eyes.[/pipdig_padded_text]

H&M Round Sunglasses

After falling in love with my round Ray-Ban RB3447 sunglasses with the copper flash lenses, I really wanted to get my hands on a pair of similar sunglasses in a gold frame/green lens combination. I found this pair of sunnies from H&M which cost just £6.99. These are fantastic dupes for the Ray-Ban RB3447’s and although they are much cheaper, they still offer UV400 protection – something that is important to look out, especially for when purchasing cheaper sunglasses![/pipdig_padded_text]

Ray-Ban RB4246 Clubround Sunglasses – Lookalikes from Primark

There are so many iconic styles from Ray-Ban that I love – however I obviously cannot afford them all! When I first spotted this pair of Ray-Ban lookalikes in Primark I couldn’t resist picking up a pair, especially as they only cost around £3. Although Primark sunglasses generally aren’t the best quality, they still offer UV protection, so even if they don’t last longer than a couple of months, it’s still worth checking out Primark’s sunglasses collection for a good bargain![/pipdig_padded_text]

Ray-Ban RB3016 Clubmaster Sunglasses – Lookalikes from Primark

Another great pair of dupes from Primark – this time for the popular Ray-Ban RB3016 Clubmaster sunglasses. I got my hands on this pair of sunglasses last summer for just £2, however I spotted them in Primark once again this year, so it’s worth popping into your local Primark if you’d like a pair for yourself. Again, these offer UV protection and I think they look much more pricey than they actually are! Isn’t the rose gold detailing so pretty!? Full post here.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Polaroid PLD6010 Prescription Sunglasses

After years of struggling of wearing contact lenses or else struggling to see clearly whenever I wore sunglasses, I finally got my hands on a pair of prescription sunglasses earlier this year. I love the classic round shape of these sunglasses and I really like the fact that the frame is blue rather than your typical gold or silver. A really comfortable and easy pair of sunnies to wear! Full post here.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Aviator Style Prescription Sunglasses

Of course, I had to get a pair of my fave aviator style sunglasses with prescription lenses. I think that aviator style sunglasses are universally flattering and look good on pretty much all face shapes. Full post here.

Which one is your favourite pair of sunglasses? Let me know in the comments section. I’d also love to know your favourite place to shop for sunglasses!

How To Get Rid of Dry Skin in Summer

Although most of us associate cold, winter weather with dry skin, a lot of us actually experience dry skin in the summer months too. Whether it’s because our skin is exposed to more sun or we spend more time in air conditioned rooms, the summer months can really cause our skin to feel dry and flaky.

Fortunately, there’s a lot you can do the reduce or even eliminate flaky skin. It just takes a bit of care – like anything in beauty. Here we’re going to investigate some of the top causes of flaky skin and what you can do about it.

Too Much Sun Exposure

Is your skin peeling? It could be the result of too much sun exposure. According to Harvard scientists, the sun is the number one risk factor for skin cancer and one of the main causes of skin damage. Too much sun exposure, they claim, can lead to skin that is rough, wrinkled and overly dry. That’s why so many beauty experts today recommend that women use factor 30 sunscreen year round to protect from skin damage. The good news? SPF can be found in many facial products today, including foundation.

Sunscreen is great for taking the edge off the damage caused by the sun’s rays. But did you know that it doesn’t actually block out all of the ultraviolet radiation coming from the sun? You can slather yourself with factor 50 sunblock all day long, and still some of the sun’s light will get through to your skin cells and potentially damage them. This is why top age-defying celebrities, like Kylie Minogue, insist on walking around outside covered up. Cover your arms and wear a hat if you want to keep the sun at bay.

Lastly, don’t forget your extremities. You might apply the skin on your cheeks with sunscreen, but what about your lips? After all, they can burn too! Choose a lip balm with SPF protection. Many lip balms come with SPF 15 built in.

Turn Your Shower Temperature Down

There’s nothing wrong with having a warm shower (even in summer!). But taking a shower that is hot (more than 50 degrees), could be damaging your skin.

According to dermatologist Andrea Lynn, extremely hot water can strip the skin of its natural protective barrier, the sebum which prevents it from getting too dry. Without this oily substance to keep the skin supple, it quickly dries out, leaving it feeling flaky and uncomfortable. Also, repeated exposure to hot water can actually damage the skin permanently and could lead to serious health consequences in the future.

Lynn suggests turning the temperature down by about 10 degrees if you like taking hot showers, just to be on the safe side. She also suggests gently padding dry with a towel.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Moisturize Consistently

Leslie Baumann, a leading researcher at the University of Miami, says that women should choose their moisturiser carefully to avoid dry skin. Her advice is to look for a moisturising cream that contains ingredients that will replenish the skin’s natural oils. Outlets like The Beauty Store offer a range of moisturisers with natural oils. It’s all about repairing the skin’s own natural defences, according to Baumann. This is the leading cause of dry skin and why so many women are flaky.

When it comes to moisturising, there are some golden rules that women should follow. After showering, pad your skin dry. Then apply a thick layer of you favourite moisturiser quickly afterwards. Make sure you use a cream that has inbuilt SPF protection. Major health bodies recommend choosing SPF 30 or more, so go with sun protection to be safe.

Use A Soapless Cleanser

Cleansing agents are perfect for removing makeup at night. But if you’re using them day after day, they can start causing problems. Harsh cleansers don’t just remove makeup and grime: they also have the effect of removing the skin’s own defences, leaving it feeling dry and rough. Repeated exposure to harsh acids contained in many of these cleansing products can result in long-term dry skin that looks and feels bad.

According to Carolyn Jacob, a dermatologist, women should consider using cleansers that are free from additives or deodorants. They should also choose products which contain ceramides – fatty substances very similar to those found on your skin. These ceramides will help bolster the number of natural ceramides following the removal of makeup.

Only Shave After You Shower

Shaving on a regular basis can take its toll on your skin. The reason? Because the shaving motion removes many of the natural oils on the surface, just like cleansing.

Fortunately, there’s a solution. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, the best time to shave is immediately after you’ve taken a shower. After a shower, hairs become softer and more easy to cut.[/pipdig_padded_text]

The Most Natural Looking (& Quickest!) Fake Tan | Skinny Tan Express Mousse

Ever since trying out Skinny Tan for the first time earlier this year, it has become one of my go-to brands when it comes to fake tanning. The fact that the products give the most natural looking tan without the classic tell-tale biscuit scent is a massive plus, but that’s not all…

Skinny Tan is a vegan, cruelty-free tanning brand that contains natural tanning actives with skin smoothing ingredients that help to reduce the appearance of cellulite. It’s basically a confidence boost in a bottle!

I was recently sent a few goodies from Skinny Tan and couldn’t wait to try them out! All the products which I have used from the brand have the same, amazing tropical coconut scent which I absolutely love, especially as it’s summer![/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text] The way you prep your skin before applying fake tan makes a big difference to the way your tan will develop, and it’s always a good idea to get rid of any dead skin cells first. The Skinny Tan Pre Tan Primer is a great exfoliator that has been developed specifically to prepare your skin for a fake tan. The product contains crushed walnut shells which buff away any dry skin cells and I found that this also leaves the skin feeling super soft once it has been rinsed off.

Skinny Tan recently launched their Express Tanning Mousse, which lasts up to 14 days and is an absolute life saver if you forgot to tan the night before an event or for anyone who simply doesn’t have the time to let their tan develop overnight! Just like all the other products from Skinny Tan, this one smells absolutely gorgeous and is a pleasure to apply using the Tan Application Mitt (which feels so much softer and more luxurious than any other tan applicator I have tried!). The tanning mousse can be left on the skin for 1 hour for a medium tan, or up to 3 hours for a deep, dark tan. I tried this by leaving it on for 1 hour and found that this left with my ‘perfect’ shade of tan – a natural-looking ‘just been on holiday’ tan without even a hint of orange!

I’m always a bit apprehensive about using long-lasting tanning products, because if the colour isn’t right or it develops into a bit of a streaky mess then it’s kind of hard to hide it! However, I found that the Express Tanning Mousse was foolproof, and even a tanning newbie like me got it right the first time! If for some reason you do end up getting it wrong, Skinny Tan have also got an Exfoliating Mitt, which has a ‘prep’ side on one side to prepare your skin prior to fake tanning, as well as a ‘correct’ side which you can use to remove any excess tanning from your skin.

Have you tried Skinny Tan?

Summer Sales Wish List | LoveTheSales

There’s nothing I love more than grabbing a bargain, and shopping for sales online is one of my favourite ways of doing so. There’s no pushing past people in a hot, sweaty shop or having to sift through messy piles of clothes. Instead, you can shop the sales from the comfort of your own bed by doing it all online – and it’s made even easier if you know where to look…

One of my favourite websites to shop the sales recently has been LoveTheSales. The website brings all the best offers from around the web in one place, with sales from brands such as Ted Baker, Gucci, Superdry, Adidas, Forever 21 and ASOS all available on the site. In fact, the website is linked with over 600 different stores worldwide – so you can find all the best sales and offers in one place.

I’ve been having a little browse on the LoveTheSales website during the last week and thought I’d share what’s on my current wish list (mouse hovering on the ‘CHECKOUT’ button as we speak!).[/pipdig_padded_text]

1. Ted Baker Folk Foliage Cocktail Dress

If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you may have noticed that I absolutely love Ted Baker – so a Ted Baker sale is just like a dream come true! This navy blue dress would be perfect as part of a summer party outfit and has such a gorgeous print on it.

2. Ted Baker Jirily Blossom Jacquard Midi Skirt

I only got into midi skirts last summer, but now I just cannot get enough of them! Styling a midi skirt with a simply white tee is one of the easiest ways to look smart and stylish with minimal effort.

3. Ralph Lauren Olivia Tote

Pink is literally everywhere this season and this reversible Ralph Lauren bag is a cute way of injecting some pink in to your outfits this summer. If you’ve had enough of the pink, simply reverse this over onto the chocolate brown side.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]4. Superdry Rookie Summer Jacket in Khaki

Finding the perfect summer jacket isn’t always easy, but this one from Superdry is great! I’m currently loving all-things-khaki as it looks great with most outfits (especially neutrals or pink!). As the jacket is made from 97% cotton it will keep you warm without overheating.

5. Ray-Ban 3447 in Copper Flash / Matte Gold

I’ve had my eye on these sunglasses for months – they just look amazing! All the sunglasses that I own are quite dark and neutral, so a shiny new pair of rose gold sunglasses would add a fun touch to my sunglasses collection.

6. Miss KG Dreya Sliders

I didn’t really get into the slider trend as there was never a pair of sliders that really caught my eye… until now! These sliders from Kurt Geiger look so pretty and comfy. These would be perfect for casual sunny days or going on holiday.

Swimsuits In The Spotlight | Ted Baker from UK Swimwear

Swimsuits are back in fashion – woohoo! I’ve always been a much bigger fan of swimsuits than bikinis, and I’m so glad that they have made an appearance again after so many years! And with so many gorgeous and flattering styles to choose from, it’s hard not to pick up a swimsuit or two this summer.

Up until a few years ago, the choice of swimsuits available in most shops – when compared to bikinis – was appalling. However, this year things are a little bit different, and there’s lots of choice whether you prefer swimsuits, bikinis or both. Overall, I find that swimsuits are a lot more flattering and comfortable to wear than bikinis, especially when you find one which fits just right.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]Ted Baker is by far one of my favourite brands when it comes to clothing and accessories, and when I came across this beautiful Ted Baker swimsuit on the UK Swimwear website I fell in love! The swimsuit is just super pretty, with a really love floral and butterfly print that is unlike any other swimwear item that I own.

What I love most about this particular swimsuit is just how flattering the fit of it is. The swimsuit has a hidden support built into it, along with slightly padded cups and removable adjustable straps to support and smoothen out your figure, whilst still feeling really comfortable to wear. The swimsuit also features a navy trim around the hips to give the illusion of a slimmer waist. This was available to order according to bra size and is true to size as it literally fits like a glove![/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]If you’re on the hunt for some new swimwear this year I would recommend checking out the UK Swimwear website, where you can find a range of bikinis, swimsuits and beach accessories from a great range of different brands.

Top tip: Check out Lil-lets who have an excellent range of tampons, pads and liners with a dedicated range for teens!

Are you more of a swimsuit or a bikini person?

The Best Face SPF? Garnier Moisture Bomb Multi-Protecting Hydrating Mist SPF 30

Garnier Moisture Bomb Multi-Protecting Hydrating Mist SPF 30[pipdig_padded_text]

We all know how important it is to protect our skin from the sun all year round. However, there’s something about it being the first week of summer that makes me even more determined to include an SPF in my skincare routine every morning. I hate using SPF products that feel tacky on my face, so when I heard about Garnier’s newly launched SPF that comes in the form of a light mist, I couldn’t wait to try it out.

I’m a huge fan of the Garnier Moisture Bomb range – the tissue masks in particular are a Godsend for anyone with dry, dehydrated skin. However, Garnier recently took the range to a whole new level when they launched the Moisture Bomb Multi-Protecting Hydrating Mist.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Garnier Moisture Bomb Multi-Protecting Hydrating Mist SPF 30

[pipdig_padded_text]Just like the other products in the Garnier Moisture Bomb range, the Multi-Protecting Hydrating Mist has been specifically formulated for dehydrated skin – something that many of us experience during the summer due to not drinking enough water, air conditioning and hot weather. However, apart from rehydrating the skin, the product contains antioxidant pomegranate and UV filters to protect the skin from pollution and the sun’s UV rays with SPF30.

I have been testing this out over the past few weeks and it has since become my go-to skin protector for the summer! The product is super easy and quick to use as you just give the bottle a shake and spray this over your skin and you’re done! There’s no need to wait or rub the product into your skin and it doesn’t leave a greasy or white film over your skin like something SPF products do. Best of all, it absorbs very quickly and there’s no sun cream scent. It’s literally the perfect product for anyone whose lazy with applying SPF to their face, or just wants a quick fix!

I’ve been using this as part of my morning skincare routine before applying makeup and I have found that it works well as a base for my makeup. However, you can also use this on-the-go and spray it on over your makeup throughout the day if you want to rehydrate or top-up the protection on your skin.

At just £9.99 (currently on offer for £6.66 from Boots) I would highly recommend picking this up for the summer![/pipdig_padded_text]

Bright Beach Days With Hunkemoller

There’s no better time to add a splash of colour to your wardrobe than spring and summer! I love wearing colourful clothes throughout the whole year, but there’s something about the sunnier days that draws me towards even more colourful clothing at this time of year – and my swimwear collection is no different!

Hunkemoller is a brand that I was only recently introduced to. However, their selection of stunning swimwear, all in bold and striking designs and colours, has made me fall in love with the brand. The brand’s designs are all inspired by the season’s runway trends, and you can find anything from a pastel range of colours which look great with a tan, to bolder, richer colours that look amazing on those of us with fairer skin.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]After browsing through the Hunkemoller website, I decided to go for this gorgeous bikini in the ‘festival’ print. All the bikinis on the Hunkemoller website are sold as separate items – so you can get your perfect fitting bikini top and bottoms. This is great, especially for those of us who normally wear a different size on their top and bottom half.

The things I love the most about this particular bikini is the striking, colourful pattern, and the pleated strap detailing on the bikini top which makes this particular bikini look really unique! The top also has some removable padding, and because the bottom has some tie fastenenings on the sides, this makes it easy to adjust the bikini bottom to your perfect fit.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]Hunkemoller have also got a Swimwear Style Guide on their website, where you can find some information on the perfect bikini for your body type.

What type of swimwear do you prefer? Simple or striking?

Winter Holiday In The Sun | Things To Pack

Ted Baker Bikini

It may almost be spring, but the weather outside is still quite chilly! With airline prices being generally quite reasonable at this time of year, why not book a short winter holiday in the sun? Today I’ll be sharing my essentials when packing for a sunny weekend away!

Now is a great time to escape the cold and dull winter weather, and enjoy a weekend of sun – you know, that bright yellow thing in the sky that hasn’t made an appearance in a while! Flight and hotel prices are generally quite reasonable at this time of year, especially if you plan on visiting Europe. And because the school Easter holidays will be starting quite late this year, there’s still some time left before prices shoot up again – woohoo! So what are my packing essentials?

Ted Baker Bikini

Ted Baker Bikini from Simply Beach

What’s a winter break in the sun without a trip to the beach and a new bikini!? I recently came across this absolutely gorgeous Ted Baker Persian Blue Bikini from Simply Beach, which I am head over heels in love with! Ted Baker is one of my all-time favourite designer brands, and the Simply Beach website has an amazing range of swimwear items from the brand, as well as other designer brands including Seafolly, Stella McCartney and Freya. As I have quite pale skin, I find that dark or patterned swimwear looks better than pale or pastel shades, so this bikini is perfect. I just love the persian print! The bikini top is a bandeau style, which is not something that I normally go for as I’ve got slightly bigger boobs. However, as this comes with removable halter straps it looks very flattering and gives great support. I’d highly recommend checking out the Simply Beach website as they’ve got lots of super pretty swimwear!

Ray-Ban Sunglasses

Whether it’s sunny or not I’ve always got a pair of sunglasses in my handbag, so they are essential for me when visiting a sunny place. My favourite pair of winter sunglasses are the Ray-Ban 4184 ‘Light Havana’ sunglasses, which I’d featured in a full post here. These sunglasses have a tortoise shell frame and are a slightly rounder alternative to the Ray-Ban Wayfarer sunglasses. They’re also quite large on my (rather small) face so they’re great for going out sans makeup! You can see what these look like on me here.

Nivea Sun Protect & Bronze Face Cream SPF 50

I almost never bothered wearing SPF on my face up until a few years ago when I discovered just how bad this is for your skin! I was always under the impression that facial SPFs would cause my skin to break out so I avoided them for a really long time. However, I’ve been using the Nivea Sun Protect & Bronze Face Cream in SPF 50 for just under a couple of years now and I would highly recommend it. Not only does it not cause my skin to break out, but it also makes a great base for makeup and it’s really affordable too at just £6! Read my full review here. I also generally love the Nivea Sun range and always use their sunscreen lotion for my body too.

Carmex Cherry Moisturising Lip Balm with SPF 15

Having burnt lips on holiday isn’t fun! I have recently become obsessed with Carmex, and as it contains SPF 15 this is absolutely perfect for taking away with you on holiday to protect your lips. Although there hasn’t been a flavour that I haven’t liked, the cherry flavoured lip balm is one of my favourites as it smells just like sweets! It also contains menthol which feels slightly tingly on your lips (not as scary as it sounds, it actually feels really nice). Lip balm is also essential for preventing your lips from becoming dry when you’re on a plane, so this is a definite must-have when going on holiday!

What are your holiday essentials?

*This post is in collaboration with Simply Beach.*

I talk about the beauty products which I’m currently loving pretty much on a daily basis on my blog. But today I thought I would gather some of summer skincare favourites in one post and talk you through the products I like to use to take care of my skin as the weather gets warmer.

Nivea Sun Protect & Bronze SPF 50

Sun protection should technically be an essential in any skincare routine, whatever time of year. However, if there was ever a time when you should really be wearing SPF to protect your face, it’s obviously summer.  I reviewed the Nivea Sun Protect & Bronze SPF 50 last year, and it’s definitely going to be my choice of sun cream this year too.  It’s lightweight, a great base for makeup and doesn’t break me out – what’s not to love!?

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Lip Balm with SPF 15

As I recently learnt the hard way, it’s not enough to just protect your face – your lips need to be protected from the sun too.  Burnt lips are not fun! The skin on your lips is very thin and contains almost no melanin, which means that lips can very easily burn.  Recently I’ve been using the Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Lip Balm which contains SPF 15 to protect my lips.  The lip balm is super moisturising, has a pleasant cocoa/vanilla scent, and is super affordable!

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant

In order to treat my lips in the evenings I normally apply some of the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant to my lips before going to sleep.  This helps to really treat my lips overnight, leaving me with soft, supple lips in the morning – a perfect base for matte lipsticks.

Yes To Carrots Rich Moisture Day Cream

A firm favourite in my skincare routine is the Yes To Carrots Rich Moisture Day Cream.  This moisturiser from the Yes To range is hands-down one of the best ones I have ever used.  It feels rich but not sticky and is easily absorbed into the skin.  I’ve used this underneath my makeup several times and have found it to work very well that way, and I’ve also used this as part of my night time routine which leaves me with super soft skin in the morning – I’d highly recommend this!

Lush Eau Roma Toner Water

Finally, another firm favourite of mine is the Lush Eau Roma Toner Water.  This toner from Lush contains lavender and rose water – two skin-soothing ingredients which are great for soothing the skin. This can also help to calm the skin if you end up getting a little bit sunburnt.  It’s also a great size for popping into your handbag and spritzing over your face to keep cool!
