The Statement Pink Teddy Coat | How To Style OOTD

Winter may be synonymous with darker, more dull clothing. However, I always make it a point to add some colour to my autumn/winter wardrobe to keep cosy whilst adding a touch of colour to the increasingly short and chilly days.

Today I’m collaborating with LOTD, an online women’s fashion store, to show you one of my favourite ways of adding some brightness to my winter wardrobe.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Teddy coats are everywhere this season – and for good reason! Not only are they super cosy and soft (they literally feel just like wearing your dressing gown outside the house) but they also add a fun little touch to any outfit. I am currently O-B-S-E-S-S-E-D with this double breasted pink teddy coat. It feels so cosy without being overly bulky and I just love the cute pink colour.

A pink teddy coat may seem hard to style at first, however it really isn’t! For this outfit, I threw my pink teddy coat over a basic jumper and jeans combo – and it instantly (and easily) added a bit of ooomph to my look![/pipdig_padded_text]

I’m all about ultimate cosiness during the colder months, so I decided to wear my pink teddy coat over a fluffy white jumper from LOTD (which comes in one size and fits me absolutely perfectly – normally a size 10/12) as well as a super warm checked scarf I got a few years back. I also decided to accessorize this with a pink shoulder bag which complements the coat perfectly.[/pipdig_padded_text]

I’m really looking forward to styling my new coat obsession over the next few months. A statement coat such as this doesn’t have to be difficult to style. Wearing this over any winter monochrome outfit is an easy way of keeping warm whilst adding a bright pop of colour to a dull winter’s day!

What are your thoughts on teddy coats? Do you like statement coats?

The Yellow Autumnal Coat | Autumn in Arundel

There’s something about discovering new places and exploring by walking through very pretty scenery that makes me soooo happy. I recently took a trip to Arundel with my boyfriend (who also very kindly took these photos for me) where we decided to pay a trip to Arundel Castle.

Arundel Castle is situated in West Sussex, overlooking the River Arun and it’s definitely worth a visit if you enjoy exploring historic places. There are different types of tickets that you can purchase when visiting the castle, and we decided to go for the ones that allow you to access all areas, including the main castle rooms and the bedrooms, which I’d recommend![/pipdig_padded_text]

Before we headed into the very impressive castle which dates back almost 1000 years, we decided to take a stroll around the magnificent grounds that surround the castle. As I’d previously done a bit of online research into Arundel Castle, I knew the grounds would look really lovely. However, once we got there I was just so impressed with how pretty it all looked![/pipdig_left][pipdig_right]

Apart from the wonderful trees, whose leaves had just started turning golden, the grounds also enjoy a rose garden, an organic kitchen garden (complete with pumpkins!), a tropical glass house and a beautiful cut flower garden. As you walk through the grounds you can enjoy wonderful views of the castle itself and pay a trip to the Fitzalan Chape, which was founded back in 1390.[/pipdig_right]

A wander through gardens as vast and wonderful as these calls for a warm and comfortable outfit – but that doesn’t mean it needs to be boring! I recently got my hands on this gorgeous yellow raincoat from Lighthouse, which I have been really loving this autumn. The bright yellow/mustard colour adds a much-needed pop of colour to the increasingly grey weather and the quality and attention-to-detail of this particular raincoat is just great! The coat is made from a breathable and waterproof cotton outer fabric, making it perfect for this time of year. It also comes with a detachable hood and insulated padding to keep you nice and toasty, and the style of this is so flattering thanks to the adjustable waist drawcord! It is by far one of my favourite pieces in my autumn wardrobe and it also comes in a navy/purple colour! Available here (and currently on sale!).

I decided to team the Lighthouse coat with a striped pink and cream jumper, a pair of black skinny jeans and my trusty old walking boots.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Term Time Style On A Budget | Part Two: The Smart-Casual Trousers

Earlier this week, I shared a post where I styled one of my current favourite wardrobe items – a super cute and very versatile dress that can be worn pretty much any season [see post here]. Today I’ll be styling another one of my go-to wardrobe pieces from PrettyLittleThing – a pair of monochrome pinstripe trousers.

You probably know by now that I pretty much live in comfy clothes, so I’m going to start by saying that this pair of black pinstripe trousers are *the most* comfortable pair of trousers that I own! And I’m all for wearing clothes that look smart but feel as comfy as a pair of PJ bottoms (I mean, isn’t that the dream!?).[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]Up until a couple of years ago, I wouldn’t be seen in any style of trousers other than a pair of denim skinny jeans. However, I have since discovered the pure comfort and joy that can be found in a pair of classic trousers. What makes this particular style of trousers even better is the fact that they can be worn in so many different ways (and can also be found in a variety of different colours and patterns over here).

Here I decided to wear the trousers with a simple white tee (or you can wear it with a cool white slogan tee) and a pair of black leather shoes for a classic smart-casual look. They would also look great with a pair of white pumps if you want to go for a slightly more casual look. Basically, this is the kind of outfit that can be worn to work, to uni or to the shops – the perfect outfit to invest in if you’re on a budget as you can literally wear it anywhere![/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_banner image=””][pipdig_left][/pipdig_left][pipdig_right][/pipdig_right]

[pipdig_padded_text]When styled well, monochrome outfits can look so chic and effortless. Even better still, it is just so easy to transform a classic monochrome outfit into something more fun and bold! For this look, I went for a colour I would normally shy away from – bright lime – however I just ended up loving it! This lime wool coat is perfect for injecting a bit (or rather a lot) of fun into any monochrome outfit and adding a well-needed dose of colour on cold, grey days whilst still keeping the outfit looking smart.

Investing in a bold piece is a good idea even if you’re on a budget as you can throw it on any black/grey/white toned outfit and count on it to add a bit of unique twist![/pipdig_padded_text]

Term Time Style On A Budget | Part One: The ‘Any Season’ Dress

With term time looming closer, I thought I would style a few of my new favourite wardrobe pieces and show you how you can still be stylish when you’re on a student budget. Being a student means you can sometimes be a bit restricted when it comes to picking up new clothes every season. However, choosing the right pieces can make all the difference!

PrettyLittleThing recently launched their Student Style page, which is packed with affordable, stylish pieces. Today I’ll be styling a few of my favourite items from their collection and showing you just how versatile they can be. (Look out for this Wednesday’s post where I’ll be styling a few more pieces).[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]This floral wrap dress from PrettyLittleThing is by far one of the most versatile and unique pieces in my wardrobe. I always used to stay away from yellow shades as I thought they wouldn’t flatter my pale skin. However, anyone can look good in yellow – it’s all about finding the perfect yellow shade to suit your skin tone! The bold mustard yellow shade of this dress looks great against my pale skin. However, I can also imagine this also looking great with a tan!

I started by styling the dress on its own with a pair of cute frilly socks and classic white pumps. This kind of outfit is perfect for warm days as it’s super comfortable and the bold colour makes it a fun one to wear! [/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]The great thing about this particular dress is that it can easily be adapted to the weather when it starts to get colder. I came across this #DEMINJACKETOFDREAMS on the PrettyLittleThing website and instantly fell in love. It’s literally the perfect fit. I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect denim jacket for absolutely ages and I’m so glad I finally found it!

The dress looks great worn with my new oversized denim jacket over the top on slightly chillier days, and the mustard colour will carry through nicely into the autumn months. Throw on a pair of black or burgundy tights and that’s your perfect autumnal outfit sorted![/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]Apart from making a super pretty daytime outfit, this dress can easily be dressed up for an evening out! Worn with a pair of rose gold heels on warmer evenings or tights and a pair of black ankle boots on colder evenings, there’s no limits to just how many different ways this style of dress can be styled! Perfect for looking stylish on a budget![/pipdig_padded_text]

Velvet Valentine’s Day OOTD

Topshop OOTD

Topshop OOTD[pipdig_padded_text]

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I thought I would share my current favourite outfit which would be perfect for a day out with the people you love, whether that is your partner, your family or your best friends. (Also, I’ve got new hair, woohoo!)

[/pipdig_padded_text] Topshop OOTD

[pipdig_padded_text] I’m all about clothes that are comfortable and keep me warm on days out, and I have been absolutely loving this outfit combination recently. This gorgeous velvet floral dress is from Topshop and it is just the perfect autumn/winter dress. As its velvet, it looks great on days out and in the evenings, with some heels. The dress is no longer available online, however it’s on sale in some stores. For this look, I teamed the dress with my navy coat, also from Topshop. I fell in love with this coat as soon as I set my eyes on it in Topshop, and when I saw that it was £65 I just knew I had to have it! I could only find the coat in beige on the website, but you may be able to find the navy version in your local store. I have been loving wearing navy tights instead of black tights recently – they just make a nice change and add a special touch to any outfit. I think they look great with the navy coat. I got a pack of 3 pairs of navy tights from Primark for just £2 – bargain! Finally, I completed my outfit with the comfiest boots EVERRRRRR from Dune (via ASOS!). These boots were quite pricey, however I pretty much live in black leather boots in autumn/winter so I thought I would invest in a good quality pair a few months ago and have been getting so much wear out of them.[/pipdig_padded_text]

I’m definitely a winter person. I love the cold, crisp air on a winter morning, getting to wrap up in warm, cosy clothes, and having long, hot baths on dark, winter evenings. In fact, I wrote a whole blog post with 10 reasons why winter is better than summer earlier this year.

One of the things I love doing in winter is going for walks. Of course, this requires wrapping up in warm winter clothing and popping on a pair of comfy boots! A pair of black leather ankle boots, such as the Schuh Mobster Boots that I am wearing here, are absolutely for going on winter walks – whether that is in a park nearby, or the city centre. Since they are made out of real leather, there’s no need to worry about them getting too wet on rainy days (I wish I could say the same thing about my UGGs!). These boots have a small 4.5cm heel, which make them really comfortable and also perfect if like me, you don’t wear heels on a daily basis but would appreciate the additional height.

Heart elbow patch

Heart elbow patch

Throughout this last year I’ve worked harder than I ever have on Beauty and the Bird. So I felt that it would only be appropriate to end the year by challenging myself to do Blogmas for the first time ever – 24 days of new content, everyday, in the build up to Christmas! I’ve got some amazing Christmas gift ideas, winter beauty and fashion posts, and some festive giveaways along the way, so keep your eyes peeled!

To kick things off, I wanted to share one of my favourite items in my winter wardrobe – the Boohoo Harper Heart Elbow Patch Jumper. I’m all for big, cosy jumpers in winter – you know, the ones that basically feel like you’re wearing a big hug all day. This particular knit from Boohoo ticks all the boxes in terms of being cosy and keeping you nice and toasty. However, what makes it extra special is the super cute heart elbow patches. I’m not normally a big fan of elbow patches on jumpers (I mean, really, what is the point!?), but there was something that drew me to this and I’m so glad I picked it up! I know I’m going to be getting so much wear out of this throughout the winter.

[pipdig_padded_text]If you’ve been following any of my previous OOTD posts, you may have noticed that I love adding a pop of colour to my outfits. However, one colour I wouldn’t normally wear is bright yellow. I usually stay clear of yellow shades as I always thought they looked way more flattering on a tan, whereas I’m quite fair all year round.

I was recently browsing the Dorothy Perkins website and came across this beautiful top with a Peter Pan collar and lace detailing on the sleeves. I’m a huge fan of Peter Pan collars, and am instantly drawn to anything with a pretty collar on. This, in addition to the cute lace sleeves made this top an absolute winner in my eyes. The top comes in a really flattering yellow-orange colour which I was very pleased to discover complements my skin tone quite nicely.  It’s such a bright, happy colour and a great way of adding a pop of colour to your outfit. The top is currently in the sale for just £12 and is also available in black. Link here.

I decided to style the top with this pair of blue skinny jeans, also from Dorothy Perkins. I’d never tried any jeans from Dorothy Perkins, however I really love the style and fit of these! The jeans feel like really good quality and as they are quite thick, they will be perfect for the autumn and winter. These are also currently in the sale for £15 – I’d highly recommend grabbing a pair before they run out. Link here.[/pipdig_padded_text]

New Look Dungarees

New Look Dungarees

My current fashion obsession: stripes + dunagrees.

Every time I go shopping, I’m somehow drawn to the same things. Around 75% of my wardrobe consists of stripes, however each time I spot (yet another) navy and white striped in the shops, it slips into my basket without me even realising (ish).

I recently did a bit of sales-shopping and came across this navy and white striped tee in Topshop for something ridiculous like £4. For this look, I decided to team the tee with a pair of black denim dungarees from New Look. These were also in the sale for £14, which I thought was such an amazing bargain! I’m also wearing my light pink scarf from Topshop, which was – surprise – also in the sale for £12, and my Weinbrenner boots which I’ve had for over 4 years now and are still going strong! Finally, I’m wearing my mum’s bag from Fiorelli which completes the look quite nicely.

Primark OOTD

Primark OOTD

I’ve just returned from a week in the Scottish highlands, and I’m so excited to be blogging again! Although I was absent from my blog over the past week, I was been busy snapping away lots of blog post photos while I was away – the first one being this OOTD.  I recently popped into Primark – which of course means I’ll be uploading a haul to my channel very soon. But first I thought I would share some of the items I bought in this post.

Primark have some really cute summer and autumn pieces in at the moment. I’m really into printed white blouses at the moment and I fell in love with this bumble bee print shirt when I saw it. This cost just £7.

I’m also really into dusky pink shades at the moment, so I decided to pick up this gorgeous dusky pink suede skirt, which cost £6. I can’t wait to wear this through till the end of summer and into the autumn months with some tights!

If you’d like to see what else I got from Primark, make sure you’re subscribed to my channel by clicking here.

Dungarees and pinafore dresses were BIG last year, and fortunately they look set to stay this year too! I find that pinafore dresses are an easy way of making an outfit both fun and comfortable.  For this look I decided to wear my denim pinafore dress over a basic navy and orange striped tshirt, which I thought made a nice change to the usual navy and white tshirts I would normally go for.  I wore this with a comfortable pair of plimsolls and completed the look with a cute pair of lace trim socks.

Just like my previous OOTD post, these photos were shot by my boyfriend Ben who has recently launched his own photography blog – go check it out here!

I recently decided to ombre my own hair, and in order to celebrate the fact that I didn’t make a total mess of my hair I headed out to a local garden with my boyfriend Ben to take some outfit shots of some new additions to my wardrobe (which are also, incidentally, ombre).  Ben recently launched his own photography blog, which I’d highly recommend checking out.  There are some pretty amazing photos on there, not that I’m biased or anything!

The outfit I wore in this post includes some of the items I spoke about in my New Look Spring Wishlist – which swiftly made their way into my shopping basket!

The photos were a lot of fun to shoot, I hope you enjoy them!
