River Island Spring Fashion Wish List

[pipdig_padded_text]

As much as I love winter and winter fashion, I’m really looking forward to updating my wardrobe for the spring! I cannot wait for all the pastels, cute slogan tees and pretty floral dresses!

I recently had a browse through the River Island website and obviously, quite a few things found their way into my spring fashion wish list. Today I’ll be sharing some of my favourite items.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Grey Flower Sleeve Boxy T-Shirt

A cute t-shirt or two should be a staple in everyone’s spring wardrobe. There are so many great t-shirts on the high street right now, but this grey t-shirt with spring-perfect flowers on the sleeves is one of my favourites. I love the boxy fit of this t-shirt, perfect for styling with a pair of high-waisted jeans or under a pinafore dress this spring.

Khaki Green Paperbag Trousers

I’m obsessed with all things high-waisted this season – whether that’s skirts, jeans or trousers. I love the style of this pair of khaki green tapered trousers from River Island, and the paperbag waist makes this a super flattering fit. Wear this with a t-shirt for a casual outfit, or style it with a crisp white shirt for a smarter look.

Rust Red Triple Compartment Cross Body Bag

I’ve been on the hunt for a slightly larger cross body bag for ages, and this one will probably make its way from my wish list to my shopping bag very soon! I love the faux suede exterior and gold hardware of this, and the face that it’s got three spacious compartments makes it perfect – especially if you’re like me and tend to carry pretty much everything in your handbag (#MaryPoppinsVibes). This also comes in so many different colours including black, pink, yellow and lilac.

Pink Backless Loafers

Doesn’t this pair of pink backless loafers SCREAM  spring!? I pretty much lived in my black leather loafers last spring, however this pair of loafers in a pretty pastel pink shade look PERFECT for spring! Wear these with your favourite pair of ankle grazer jeans for the ultimate spring look.

Are you looking forward to spring?

Inside My Makeup Bag | Five Current Favourites

[pipdig_padded_text]

Although I love trying out new beauty products and discover new gems, there are some makeup items and tools that I just keep reaching for! Today I’ll be taking a look inside my makeup bag and sharing my current favourite items with you.

MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation

MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation (shade NW20) has become the only powder that I ever use. No matter how many other powders I try, I always go back to this one! It is great at setting my makeup in place and helping it last as long as possible throughout the day, but what I love about it most is that it also has some additional coverage that works well over any foundation (or alone) to help me achieve a more smooth and clear complexion. I’ve already got my backup sorted! Read my full reviewAvailable here.

NARS Dual Intensity Blush in ‘Fervor’

This is the first NARS product I had ever tried and it has been my go-to blush since around March last year! The ‘Fervor’ blush comes with two shades – a peach/coral blush and a burgundy blush, both of which have a slight shimmer to them and add a gorgeous glow to the cheeks, without having to add any highlight. Apart from looking gorgeous on the cheeks, both of these blushers last incredibly long throughout the day. Worth every single penny! Read my full reviewAvailable here.

Rubis Switzerland Classic ProGrip Tweezers

Dubbed the ‘Ferrari of tweezers’ by the legendary Bobbi Brown, I knew I should expect great things from the Rubis Switzerland tweezers, and I was not disappointed! These tweezers feel really sturdy and are incredibly precise. They have a great grip and although they cost a bit more than what I would usually pay for a pair of tweezers, they are worth the price! I’d highly recommend these if you’re after a really good pair of tweezers. Available here.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Benefit Gimme Brow Volumising Eyebrow Gel

I’ve been a big fan of the Benefit Gimme Brow Volumising Eyebrow Gel for years now. It’s just so quick and easy to use, making it perfect for a quick makeup look before work in the morning. Although I prefer using something more ‘heavy duty’ such as the Benefit KA! Brow when I want to achieve a more precise arch in my brows, Gimme Brow is the one I reach for most often. Read my full review. Available here.

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in ‘Bond Girl’

After falling in love with Charlotte Tilbury’s lipstick formula, I had my eye on the shade ‘Bond Girl’ for quite a while – and I was so happy when I finally got my hands on it! It’s the perfect day-to-night shade that’s in between a rose, nude brown and berry shade. Of course, it comes in my favourite Charlotte Tilbury lipstick formulation – Matte Revolution – which doesn’t dry out the lips and lasts really (really) long too! Read my full review. Available here.

Have you tried any of these products yourself?

Bridesmaid / Wedding Guest Fashion Wish List

[pipdig_padded_text]

As wedding season is officially underway, it’s time for many of us to find the perfect wedding (guest) outfit! And there’s only one place on the high street which does it best…

Coast is the one high street brand that I always find myself admiring when I’m on the hunt for the perfect wedding guest outfit. With so many different styles to choose from and such great quality, it’s hard not to fall in love with an outfit (or two) and treat yourself to a beautiful piece. Although Coast is a high street brand, the quality of the clothes, including the fabrics chosen as well as the attention to detail is pretty much designer! Whether you’re a fan of dresses or prefer a separate top and skirt combination, have a look at my top picks from the Coast website below.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Of course, no wish list would be complete without a blush pink number, and isn’t this outfit just the prettiest!? The Marr Lace Bridesmaid Top (£69) styled with the Iridessa Midi Organza Skirt (£99) look like they were made just for each other and the colour would look great with a gorgeous summer tan. This is also perfect if you’re looking for an alternative to a traditional wedding guest dress. The floral lace top looks super elegant and delicate with a scalloped-edge Bardot neckline and flattering 3/4 length sleeves, whilst the A-line midi dress looks sooo pretty and is perfect for emphasising your waist.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text] Emerald green is one of my favourite ever colours to wear as it looks great against pale skin (and red hair!!). And isn’t the Imi Lace Bridesmaid Dress just so beautiful? Again, this has got a scalloped Bardot style neckline with 3/4 sleeves. I also absolutely love the pleated skirt style – it adds a touch – or more – of class, whilst the satin waist-tie finishes off the dress perfectly. This is the perfect throw-on dress that is guaranteed to make you look and feel a million dollars and would look great worn with a pair of stiletto heels.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]Last but definitely not least is the Corwin Multi Tie Jersey Maxi Dress – and boy is this one versatile! This comes in both a regular and short length which makes it easier to find your perfect length. However, what makes this dress even better is that it can be worn in 15 different ways, so there’s a style to suit every single shape!  Whether you prefer a cross-over look, a strapless look, or a halter-neck style, you can do it all with this dress. To top it all off, this comes in a beautiful sapphire blue colour, which is one of the most universally flattering shades!

Which outfit is your favourite?

The Cutest Shoes This Spring

The start of spring calls for new clothes, new accessories, and of course, new shoes! I recently came across this super adorable pair of ballet slippers and in spite of the fact that, yes, they are ever so slightly childish – I couldn’t resist picking up a pair!

These shoes are the kind of thing that I would show my family, friends and boyfriend, and they would all react the same way – a bit of a sigh and a bit of an eye roll – because although you would probably expect to see these worn by a 5 year old girl, they are just so me.

My style is generally quite feminine and girly, nothing out of the ordinary. However, I love adding cute and quirky little touches to an outfit to make them more unique to me, and I feel that these ballet slippers do just that. These look really cute simply worn with a blouse and a pair of skinny jeans. As you can see in the photos above, the shoes have a cute little bunny face on the front complete with pink bunny ears, as well as little white pompoms at the back of the shoe and an iridescent finish. I mean, it’s basically like having your own little pair of Easter bunnies, and who wouldn’t that!?

The bunny ballet slippers are available from ASOS for £25! One thing I must say is that I had to order a size down to my usual size 6 as these came up quite big.

What do you think of the bunny ballet slippers? Too cute, or just too much!?

A TOUCH OF YELLOW | OOTD IN COLLABORATION WITH DOROTHY PERKINS

Dorothy PerkinsDorothy Perkins

[pipdig_padded_text]If you’ve been following any of my previous OOTD posts, you may have noticed that I love adding a pop of colour to my outfits. However, one colour I wouldn’t normally wear is bright yellow. I usually stay clear of yellow shades as I always thought they looked way more flattering on a tan, whereas I’m quite fair all year round.

I was recently browsing the Dorothy Perkins website and came across this beautiful top with a Peter Pan collar and lace detailing on the sleeves. I’m a huge fan of Peter Pan collars, and am instantly drawn to anything with a pretty collar on. This, in addition to the cute lace sleeves made this top an absolute winner in my eyes. The top comes in a really flattering yellow-orange colour which I was very pleased to discover complements my skin tone quite nicely.  It’s such a bright, happy colour and a great way of adding a pop of colour to your outfit. The top is currently in the sale for just £12 and is also available in black. Link here.

I decided to style the top with this pair of blue skinny jeans, also from Dorothy Perkins. I’d never tried any jeans from Dorothy Perkins, however I really love the style and fit of these! The jeans feel like really good quality and as they are quite thick, they will be perfect for the autumn and winter. These are also currently in the sale for £15 – I’d highly recommend grabbing a pair before they run out. Link here.[/pipdig_padded_text]

MY STYLE ICON WITH BOOHOO | CAROLINE FLACK

I recently teamed up with one of my favourite fashion brands, Boohoo, to recreate the look of one of my favourite celebrity style icons, Caroline Flack.  Caroline is one of my favourite TV presenters and I absolutely love her style – so I was very excited to recreate one of her looks!  As I have recently finished reading her autobiography, released earlier this year, I decided to recreate one of her looks from the book photoshoot.

Caroline loves her blouses with pretty collars and short skirts/dresses to show off her legs!  Therefore, I decided to go for the Lauren Ruffle Detail Tie Neck Blouse with the Eliana Cord Pinafore Dress worn over the top to create this look.

And if you’re also a fan of Caroline Flack’s style, stay tuned to my YouTube channel next week where I’ll be uploading a Caroline Flack inspired makeup tutorial!

What do you think of this look?  Who’s your style icon?

NOVEMBER FAVOURITES 2015

Another month has gone by and in less than a month’s time, 2015 will be over!  This means that I’ll soon be putting up a ‘Best of Beauty 2016’ video on my YouTube channel.  However, until then I’ll be sharing with you the products that I have been reaching for the most throughout the month of November!

1. Herbal Essences Bee Strong Shampoo & Conditioner

My first favourite is a new haircare range that I have been trying out from Herbal Essences.  A few years ago Herbal Essences was the only shampoo/conditioner range that I would use, and I remember loving the ‘Hello Hydration‘ range in particular.  Everything I have tried from Herbal Essences smells absolutely amazing and really works.  The ‘Bee Strong’ shampoo and conditioner are great for nourishing and strengthening damaged hair.  They leave my hair feeling really healthy and smelling delicious – just like honey and apricot!

2. Benefit Blushers

I received the Benefit Box O’ Blushes last Christmas and found myself reaching for it loads this month.  I particular love ‘Sugar Bomb’, which gives a really natural glowy finish on the cheeks and ‘Bella Bamba’, which is a gorgeous pink shade (this has sadly been discontinued!).  Although the Box O’ Blushes came out last Christmas, this year Benefit have brought out a similar blush set as part of their Christmas range, which you can find here.

3. MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation

After having my eye on it for months, I picked this powder up from MAC earlier this year.  This has fast become my all-time favourite powder, and lived up to all my expectations.  It’s mattifying, adds a decent amount of coverage and helps my makeup last a lot longer on my skin.  I normally apply this over my foundation, however you can also wear it on its own as a powder foundation.

4. Dorothy Perkins Cosy Check Blanket Scarf

I featured this Dorothy Perkins blanket scarf in my Cosy Autumn Layers OOTD last month.  This has become a staple piece in my wardrobe as it is just SO warm and cosy!  The scarf looks great with most items in my wardrobe, and I love the black/beige check print.  In addition to this, the scarf also makes a good blanket to wrap up in on trips to the cinema!

What have you been loving this month?

CHRISTMAS JUMPERS 2015 | TOP 3

Christmas Jumpers 2015

One of my favourite things about fashion at this time of year is without a doubt the Christmas jumpers!  Who wouldn’t want to spread a little festive cheer whilst also keeping warm and snuggly!?

I’ve recently been browsing all my favourite online stores for the perfect Christmas jumper for 2015 – and I’ve narrowed it down to three cosy Christmas knits!

1. Topshop Angel Jumper, £34

You cannot possibly get any more festive than a red Christmas jumper.  And this particular one from Topshop is one of the more stylish Christmas jumpers that I’ve seen around this year.  With a cute silver sequin angel print all over the front, this jumper can be teamed with some jeans for a more casual daytime look.  Alternatively, wearing this with a high-waisted leather skirt and some tights would look great on a chilly winter night!

2. ASOS Brave Soul Prancing Reindeers Christmas Jumper, £18

This jumper caught my eye instantly!  As you can probably tell, I’m loving printed Christmas jumpers this year, and I cannot resist a good old reindeer design!  This jumper comes in a gorgeous deep green colour (my favourite!) or black.  It would look amazing worn over a cute Peter Pan collar.

3. ASOS Brave Soul Dancing Penguins Christmas Jumper, £18

Out of all three Christmas jumpers, this is probably the one you could get away with wearing most for a while after Christmas.  And if you’re a fan of cute animal prints, like me, you will absolutely love this!  Similar to the reindeer jumper, above, this jumper is made out of a lightweight knit material which is perfect for layering and throwing on with a pair of jeans for a Christmas shopping trip!

Which one is your favourite Christmas jumper?

SEVENTEEN COSMETICS | REVIEW

Seventeen Cosmetics

Seventeen Cosmetics Shimmer Brick

Seventeen Cosmetics Shimmer Brick

Seventeen Cosmetics are probably one of the most underrated affordable beauty brands around, and I have loved their products for several years now.  Their products are so affordable, yet really good quality.  I was recently sent a few products from Seventeen, which I hadn’t previously tried.  These included the Instant Glow Shimmer Brick, the Instant Glow Bronzing Powder and the Skin WOW Tan Liquid.

The Seventeen Instant Glow Shimmer Brick is the product that I was most excited about trying out!  Not only does it look gorgeous, but it’s also received amazing reviews from pretty much anyone who’s tried it.

The shimmer brick can be used in two ways.  First, it can be used as a highlighter, by swirling a big, fluffy brush around the pan and applying it to the tops of your cheekbones to add some glow.  Alternatively, the four individual shades can be used as eyeshadows.  At first, I was slightly sceptical about this as I wasn’t sure how pigmented the shades would be.  However, as you can probably tell from the photo above, the shades are incredibly pigmented and the shades look beautiful when swatched separately!  The formula is so buttery and smooth – something you would expect from a more high-end brand.  I was so impressed with this and would highly recommend trying it out.

This is available from Boots for £4.99.

Seventeen Cosmetics Bronzer

Whatever time of year it is, my makeup doesn’t feels complete until I’ve dusted on some bronzer to add some warmth to my skin.  I had never tried any of the bronzers from Seventeen, so I couldn’t wait to try out the Seventeen Instant Glow Bronzing Powder.  The bronzing powder comes in a really sturdy packaging, which I love, and is available in two shades: light and medium.  The shade I’ve got here is the medium shade, which would be better suited for using during the summer months, or for those with a darker skin tone.  However, the light shade would be great if you’ve got very pale skin, or are looking to add a subtle bronze tone to your skin.

The formula of this bronzing powder is fantastic.  It’s nicely pigmented and easy to blend, and best of all – it’s completely matte!  This makes it a perfect bronzing powder to use when contouring.

This is available from Boots for £4.59.

Seventeen Cosmetics Tan Liquid

The final product I was sent was the Seventeen Skin WOW Tan Liquid.  I had never previously used a liquid tan product on my face as I always thought it wouldn’t suit my (rather pale) skin tone.  However, this has completely changed my mind.  Although the bronzing liquid looks quite dark in the bottle, it blends out really nicely when applied onto the skin and doesn’t look too dark.

This can be used in various different ways.  My favourite way to use this is to apply a small amount of product all over my face before applying one of my more matte foundations, in order to give the skin a more dewy finish.  Alternative, this can also be used as a highlight by dotting a small amount of the product on to the tops of the cheekbones.

This is available from Boots for £5.99.

I have been so impressed by the Seventeen products that I’ve tried so far!

COSY AUTUMN LAYERS | OOTD

Autumn is hands down one of my favourite times of the year.  As the weather starts to get colder, and the leaves start to change colour, I love bringing out all my warm jumpers and cosy scarves!  There’s nothing I love more than snuggling up with a fluffy blanket in the evenings whilst watching a film, drinking a warm cup of tea and filling the room with the scent of a new (perhaps Chritmassy) scented candle – it just doesn’t feel the same in summer!

One of my favourite things about autumn fashion is layering.  Not only does layering keep you nice and toasty in the chillier weather, but it’s also an easy way to add style to your outfit!

Outfit Details:

Navy Waterfall Cardigan: Debenhams – Cream Check Blanket Scarf: Debenhams – Navy Suede Ankle Boots: Debenhams

Starting out with a basic black top, I added a cosy navy waterfall-style cardigan over the top.  Navy is a great colour to wear when layering your clothes as it looks great with so many other colours.  Next, I wrapped myself up in a lovely cream check scarf.  Scarves are such an easy way to add style (and warmth!) to an outfit in autumn, and this particular scarf is possibly *THE* most snuggly scarf that I own – it can pretty much double up as a blanket in the cinema!

Finally, I completed the look by wearing my current favourite pair of boots.  I was on the hunt for the perfect pair of desert boots for months, and it was love at first sight when I spotted this navy suede pair!  Not only do they look gorgeous, but they are also extremely comfy – I will definitely continue to wear these loads throughout the colder months.

TOPSHOP GLOW STICK | REVIEW

TOPSHOP GLOW STICK

I like to keep my everyday makeup routine relatively simple, and normally don’t really bother with highlighting/contouring as I just can’t ever seem to get it to look right on me!  However, a few months ago I received the Topshop Glow Stick – and this has completely changed my opinion on highlighting!

The Topshop Glow Stick is described as a “light reflecting cream highlighter to sculpt, define and enhance the skin”.  The shade I own, ‘Play Up’ is a gorgeous champagne colour, similar to Benefit’s Watt’s Up cream highlighter, however this comes in at around £15 cheaper!

What I love about the Topshop Glow Stick is just how easy it is to use!  As I previously mentioned, I find applying highlighter and contour to be quite challenging – however, this makes things so much easier!  You simply twist up the cream highlighter stick, gently apply it to the top of your cheekbones, blend it out with your fingers and you’re done.  It’s really easy and quick to blend into the skin too, and only takes a few seconds to apply.

TOPSHOP GLOW STICK

The shade itself looks so natural on the skin, with no shimmery or glittery particles visible (as you can see in the photo, above).  The product is also very pigmented so a little goes a long way, and is also very long lasting on my skin.

I think it’s made such a big difference to my everyday makeup – you can see the Topshop Glow Stick in action in my recent Glowy Everyday Makeup post.

The Glow Stick is available from Topshop for £10, and is available in three different shades.  Shop here.

CHRISTMAS PARTY MAKEUP LOOK | TOPSHOP MAKEUP

Topshop Makeup

The Christmas party season has now well and truly started, and so I will be sharing the makeup look that I will be wearing, as well as an easy guide to how you can achieve it!

Christmas parties are the perfect excuse to wear a smokey eye, bright lips and go all out with your makeup!  For this look I will be going for a grey/purple smokey eye and bright pink lips, whilst keeping the complexion looking young and fresh.

I am a huge fan of Topshop’s Beauty range and have created this look using Topshop Beauty makeup items.

1. THE BASE

The most important thing when going to a Christmas party (or any party for that matter!) is that you want your makeup to last throughout the night.  For this reason I first applied The Airbrush Primer to my face.  This helps to create a flawless base by smoothing the surface and minimizing the appearance of pores – but most importantly this helps the makeup to last much longer!  I then applied The Foundation in Shade 1, and blended it in with my fingers.  The foundation offers medium coverage with a slightly dewy finish – perfect for keeping the complexion looking fresh.  Finally I used The Concealer Palette (which has become my go-to concealer when travelling!) to cover up any blemishes and conceal my under eye circles.  I then used the translucent powder included in the concealer palette underneath my eyes to set the concealer in place, and dusted some over my T-zone.

You can find out more about what I thought of Topshop’s range of base products, The Face, by clicking here.

Topshop Makeup

2. THE CHEEKS

I am a huge fan of Topshop’s cream blush (I love Head Over Heels for the summer!) and decided to go for one of their Metallic Cream Blush ‘Aorta’, for this look.  The metallic trend has been so big this autumn/winter, and I love that Topshop have incorporated this trend into their Beauty range!  Aorta is a deep metallic burgundy-berry shade (which could also double up as a cream eyeshadow, blended into the creases of the eye!).  I simply dotted some of the cream blush on to my cheeks and blended it out.  Thanks to it’s metallic finish, the blush also works as a highlighter on the top of the cheekbones.

Topshop Makeup

3. THE EYES

To create a smokey eye look I used Topshop’s Smokey Eye Palette ‘Subversive’, which contains four shimmery shades; a grey-toned light pink colour, a darker, more purple toned shade, a dark grey and a black shade.  All four shades, especially the dark grey and black, are highly-pigmented, soft and a dream to blend – which is essential to create the perfect smokey eye effect.  I started by applying light pink shade all over the lid,  then applied the purple shade on the outer half of my eyelid, making sure it is well blended.  I then applied the dark grey into the crease and finally I applied the black shade into my crease, and again blended that well in order to create a seamless finish.  I then used Topshop’s Slanted Eyeshadow Brush to apply some of the purple toned eyeshadow underneath my bottom eyelashes.  The small size of this brush makes it perfect for using to apply a matte brown eyeshadow to fill in your eyebrows too.

I then used the Magic Liner ‘Engraved’, Topshop’s black felt tip liner to apply a thin black line on top of my lashes to make them look fuller, as well as creating a flick on the outer edges of my eyes.  I then took the Slanted Eyeshadow Brush again, dipped it into the black shadow and applied some over the black liner, blending upwards to add to the smokey effect.

Topshop Makeup

4. THE BROWS

For the eyebrows, I used the Brow Fixer ‘Ponder’, a light brown double ended eyebrow pencil.  The eyebrow pencil has a light brown pencil on one side, which allows you to fill in your eyebrows, while the other side has a wax ‘pencil’ to set the brows.  I find it so much easier and quicker to fill in the brows with this, as opposed to a powder – and it’s also perfect for travelling as it’s so light and small.  Highly recommend this!

5. THE LIPS

As it’s the Christmas party season I decided to go for bold pink lips.  This makes a nice change from the classic red lip associated with Christmas, however it works just as nicely.  To achieve this I used Topshop’s Lip Bullet ‘Double Rainbow’, a sparkly blue-toned bright pink.  The lip bullet is easy to apply and has *amazing* lasting power.  It also feels rather moisturising, which is perfect for the winter when I find my lips need a bit more TLC than usual!  If you’d rather go for a more subtle lip, which you can see in the picture below, you can use the Sheer Lip ‘Chuck’, a berry-toned sheer lipstick.  This lip product is glossy, moisturising and quite buildable in colour – perfect for the Christmas season!

What do you think of my Christmas party makeup look?  Would you go for bold lips or more subtle ones?

I will be posting more in-depth reviews and swatches of the products mentioned in the coming weeks.
