3 Benefit Bits I’m Loving | Summer Beauty

[pipdig_padded_text]

It’s no surprise that Benefit is by far one of my favourite beauty brands. Not only do I absolutely love their in-store brow services (read up about my experience of the Benefit Brow Bar here) – but I’m a big fan of many of their products too!

Today I’ll be sharing 3 products that I have been absolutely loving this summer – ones that last long and help you look flawless through the heat.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Benefit Boi-ing Airbrush Concealer

Having a long-lasting makeup base in summer is a pretty challenging. However, using the right products can make a huge difference. Throughout the autumn and winter months, I normally use cream concealers. However, the Benefit Boi-ing Airbrush Concealer is pretty much MADE for the warm, summer months. The concealer comes in a compact tub that is perfect for on-the-go touch ups, and more importantly, IT’S WATERPROOF! This offers a medium-sheer coverage, feels lightweight on the skin and is great for concealing dark under-eye circles or blemishes. Pop on some powder over the top and the coverage will last for hours! This is available in 6 different shades.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Benefit They’re Real Tinted Primer

Whether you’re into big, dramatic lashes or more natural looking ones, the Benefit They’re Real Tinted Primer is a must-have for the summer. I love big, dramatic lashes all year round and would highly recommend the Benefit BADgal BANG! and the Benefit They’re Real Mascara if you’re into false-looking lashes too. If you prefer natural lashes (with a bit of a boost!) the Benefit They’re Real Tinted Primer can be worn on its own to add a brown tint and define the lashes. However, when worn underneath a mascara, this further enhances the lashes by increasing the length and volume without clumping up the lashes. Lash primer is one of those products you don’t realise that you need in your makeup routine, until you’ve tried it![/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil

I’ve spoken about my love for Benefit brow products countless times on my blog and the product I’m reach for the most at the moment has to be the Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil. The brow pencil glides on the brows easily, so filling in your brows with this is super quick. It also has a waterproof formula, which is essential for summer and it comes with a built-in spoolie brush, which you can use to soften your brows once you are done filling them in. This comes in 8 different shades, so you’re bound to find one that’s perfect for you![/pipdig_padded_text]

How To Find a New Signature Scent That You’ll Love With John Lewis

[pipdig_padded_text]

Finding a scent you adore can be a tricky and overwhelming experience, and that is why when we find a scent we love, we tend to stick to it. If it stands the test of time, we eventually go on to class it as our ‘signature scent’ – a scent that those around us will associate with us…

However, the problem with wearing one particular fragrance over a long period of time, is that eventually you get so used to it that you can’t really smell it and enjoy it any more.

John Lewis recently launched their new #JLSignatureScents campaign, which is all about finding a new signature scent that you will love, based on your current signature scent.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

I actually have two signature scents, both of which are quite similar. These are the Bulgari Rose Goldea Eau de Parfum and the Valentino Donna Eau de Parfum, both of which are classic, floral scents that are perfect for day and night.

Based on my two favourite scents, the fragrance expert at John Lewis recommended the Miller Harries Rose Silence Eau de Parfum;

“Rachel’s two favourite fragrances, Bulgari Rose Goldea and Valentino Donnam, are centred around the classic Rose. Therefore I am confident that she will fall in love with British brand Miller Harris’ take on the rose, ‘Rose Silence’. It’s an intoxicating fragrance, and one of their best selling lines. The rose notes are fresh, yet understones of sandalwood create an unexpected, multidimensional impression.”

So… what did I think of my new recommended signature scent?

[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Basically, I adore it.

Miller Harris is a luxury british fragrance brand that I was not familiar with until I received my recommendation from John Lewis. And now I really wish that I had discovered the brand sooner. ‘Rose Silence’ literally smells like my perfect scent. It is floral (of course) yet still modern and it smells really fresh. The fragrance is light and doesn’t feel overpowering yet it is incredibly long-lasting. I find that some heavy fragrances can give me a headache, however this is perfect as it is so light and crisp, yet still detectable throughout the day. It is just so me.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

I would probably never have discovered this perfume if it wasn’t thanks to the John Lewis fragrance experts, and I’m so thankful that I did. I can already tell that this will be a fragrance I will continue to wear and enjoy in the foreseeable future!

Discover your new signature scent at John Lewis online, or pop into your nearest store for some expert advice on choosing a fragrance you will undoubtedly love.[/pipdig_padded_text]

My Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick Collection

[pipdig_padded_text]

Ever since I made my first ever Charlotte Tilbury purchase back in 2016, my love for the brand has grown and grown. Some of my favourite products from Charlotte Tilbury are the lipsticks – the formula is just spot on.

Although my Charlotte Tilbury lipstick collection is small compared to some others, I love every single shade I own and so I thought I would talk you through the shades in my collection so far.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

I’ve previously spoken about the best and worst Charlotte Tilbury products that I own, and the lipsticks are definitely worth every single penny. At £24, these lipsticks are definitely more on the pricey side – however the formula is so much better than any other lipstick I have tried and you really get what you pay for in terms of quality.

My favourite Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks come in the ‘Matte Revolution’ formula. This gives a matte finish without drying the lips and the best thing about it is that it is seriously long lasting! The formula also contains what Charlotte Tilbury calls ‘3D glowing pigments’ which create the illusion of fuller lips instead of flat, matte lips. The formula feels so comfortable to wear and most of the time I forget I’ve even got any lipstick on until I look in the mirror or somebody compliments it.

So, what shades do I currently have in my collection? Below are the lipsticks in order of how I purchased them.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Charlotte Tilbury ‘Liv It Up’

For my first Charlotte Tilbury lipstick, I decided to go for an everyday wearable shade and opted for the shade ‘Liv It Up’ – a cute and summery pastel pink shade with slight blue undertones. This is my only lipstick that is not in the Matte Revolution formula – instead it comes in the K.I.S.S.I.N.G formula, which is more hydrating. It has a more satin/slightly glossy finish and is one that I really enjoy wearing when I’ve got dry lips. Considering it is not matte, it is still pretty long lasting! I tend to reach for this shade more often during the spring/summer months. Review here.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Charlotte Tilbury ‘Amazing Grace’

I bought this lovely rose pink shade when I was on holiday in Edinburgh – and it was my most worn lipstick for the longest time! It’s the perfect bright-but-not-too-bright pink shade that can easily compliment a daytime or an evening look and it’s great for adding a pop of colour without feeling OTT. It’s a shade that I feel would suit most skin tones. This comes in the Matte Revolution formula, which is great as it lasts really long on the lips. Review here.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Charlotte Tilbury ‘The Queen’

This was by far one of my braver choices when purchasing a high-end lipstick. I normally tend to stick to shades that I know I could wear on most days, however ‘The Queen’ is a fuchsia pink shade and is definitely one that I normally save for special occasions when I want to go for a bolder look. Although I love the shade, it’s my least used one out of my whole collection. Perhaps I should try and go for a bolder look even when I don’t have a special occasion planned?! Review (and see what it looks like on me) here.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Charlotte Tilbury ‘Pillow Talk’

When this lipstick was released a year ago, ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE. It was one of the most talked about lipsticks of the year, and although I was slightly worried that I was simply giving in to the hype when I purchased this, it turned out to be my most worn lipstick of all time, out of all the lipsticks that I own. ‘Pillow Talk’ is a pinky nude shade which I reach for on pretty much a daily basis. It’s the perfect everyday lipstick that adds a hint of colour to the lips and makes them look fuller. Originally a limited edition shade, this is now available all year round – and I’ve come to rely on it so much that I will most likely be repurchasing this one. Review here.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Charlotte Tilbury ‘Bond Girl’

‘Bond Girl’ is my most recent purchase from the Tilbs, and it’s probably the shade I would recommend to anyone looking for an all round great shade that can be worn with any look – day or night. It’s the perfect in between rose-brown-berry shade that I have been reaching for when I want something a bit bolder than the ‘Pillow Talk’ but less bold than ‘The Queen’. It looks gorgeous with a bronze-gold eye! Review here.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Inside My Makeup Bag | Five Current Favourites

[pipdig_padded_text]

Although I love trying out new beauty products and discover new gems, there are some makeup items and tools that I just keep reaching for! Today I’ll be taking a look inside my makeup bag and sharing my current favourite items with you.

MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation

MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation (shade NW20) has become the only powder that I ever use. No matter how many other powders I try, I always go back to this one! It is great at setting my makeup in place and helping it last as long as possible throughout the day, but what I love about it most is that it also has some additional coverage that works well over any foundation (or alone) to help me achieve a more smooth and clear complexion. I’ve already got my backup sorted! Read my full reviewAvailable here.

NARS Dual Intensity Blush in ‘Fervor’

This is the first NARS product I had ever tried and it has been my go-to blush since around March last year! The ‘Fervor’ blush comes with two shades – a peach/coral blush and a burgundy blush, both of which have a slight shimmer to them and add a gorgeous glow to the cheeks, without having to add any highlight. Apart from looking gorgeous on the cheeks, both of these blushers last incredibly long throughout the day. Worth every single penny! Read my full reviewAvailable here.

Rubis Switzerland Classic ProGrip Tweezers

Dubbed the ‘Ferrari of tweezers’ by the legendary Bobbi Brown, I knew I should expect great things from the Rubis Switzerland tweezers, and I was not disappointed! These tweezers feel really sturdy and are incredibly precise. They have a great grip and although they cost a bit more than what I would usually pay for a pair of tweezers, they are worth the price! I’d highly recommend these if you’re after a really good pair of tweezers. Available here.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Benefit Gimme Brow Volumising Eyebrow Gel

I’ve been a big fan of the Benefit Gimme Brow Volumising Eyebrow Gel for years now. It’s just so quick and easy to use, making it perfect for a quick makeup look before work in the morning. Although I prefer using something more ‘heavy duty’ such as the Benefit KA! Brow when I want to achieve a more precise arch in my brows, Gimme Brow is the one I reach for most often. Read my full review. Available here.

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in ‘Bond Girl’

After falling in love with Charlotte Tilbury’s lipstick formula, I had my eye on the shade ‘Bond Girl’ for quite a while – and I was so happy when I finally got my hands on it! It’s the perfect day-to-night shade that’s in between a rose, nude brown and berry shade. Of course, it comes in my favourite Charlotte Tilbury lipstick formulation – Matte Revolution – which doesn’t dry out the lips and lasts really (really) long too! Read my full review. Available here.

NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation First Impressions + Comparison with NARS Sheer Glow Foundation

[pipdig_padded_text]

There are 2 things I always look for in a foundation – good coverage and one that stays put on my skin all day. Although I prefer a more dewy finish, I have always had to settle for matte foundations that are traditionally known to last longest on the skin. However, the all-new NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation claims that it is possible to enjoy a radiant foundation that lasts all day. As you could imagine, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this and see if it lived up to its dreamy long-lasting dewy claims!

I’m a big fan of NARS products, especially their Sheer Glow Foundation and Dual Intensity Blush – 2 products which I reach for on most days. So it goes without saying that I’ve come to expect very good things from the brand.

The NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation is NARS’ first foundation that promises high coverage and up to 16 hours of wear which means it can literally take you from day to night. But unlike pretty much all long-lasting foundations, this foundation has a radiant finish – so you essentially get the best of both worlds: radiance and longevity – i.e. THE DREAM[/pipdig_padded_text]

Wearing NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation on my right and NARS Sheer Glow Foundation on my left (side closest to the wardrobe)

[pipdig_padded_text]I’ve been trying this foundation out over the past week and I can honestly say that it is by far one of the best foundations I have ever tried – I was impressed from the moment I applied the foundation to my face, to the moment when I came to remove my makeup at the end of the day and found that it lasted really well on my skin.

I normally apply this to my face and blend it out using the Real Techniques Buffing Brush. The foundation blends into the skin so easily and sets pretty fast too so there’s no need to spend ages blending the foundation into the skin. And although you have to work fast when you apply it to your skin, you know that it’s not going to budge. It also gives me a really good coverage and I don’t normally feel the need to conceal under my eyes when using this.

Apart from this, it also leaves the skin looks so glowy. I knew I should expect a radiant finish from the name of the foundation, but this seriously impressed me! It left my cheek bones looking gorgeously highlighted – without having applied any highlighter! For this reason, I would say that the NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation is probably best suited to those with normal-dry skin types rather than oily skin.

(Just for reference, I wear the shades Mont Blanc / Deauville which both work really well with my fair skin tone).[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

As I mentioned earlier on, I’m a big fan of the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation – in fact, it’s one of my favourite foundations that I own. However, I must say that if I had to choose just one NARS foundation to repurchase, it would have to be the Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation.

The main differences I noticed between the 2 foundations are;

  • Sheer Glow has a lighter coverage than the Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation which has a medium-full coverage
  • Natural Longwear Radiant Foundation has a thicker consistency yet blends a lot quicker into the skin and feels lightweight once blended
  • Sheer Glow has a more natural-satin finish whilst the Natural Longwear Radiant Foundation is full of radiance
  • Natural Longwear Radiant Foundation comes with a pump (!!) whilst you need to purchase a separate pump with the Sheer Glow Foundation
  • Natural Longwear Radiant Foundation costs £35 whilst Sheer Glow is slightly less pricey at £33 (+ pump)
  • Both foundations last really well on my skin, however the Natural Longwear Radiant Foundation lasts slightly longer

Although I prefer the Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation and found that it works better with my skin, I still feel there’s a place for Sheer Glow in my makeup bag. Sheer Glow is great for those days when I prefer a lighter coverage and a more natural makeup look – one that isn’t too glowy but instead just looks like I’m having a naturally good skin day.

Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado | My Holy-Grail Eye Cream

[pipdig_banner image=”http://www.beautyandthebird.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/IMG_6663.jpg”]

[pipdig_padded_text]

2017 was the year I started to take proper care of my skin, and one of my favourite skincare purchases was by far the Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado. I started applying the product to my skin every night since last June –  but I didn’t expect to notice an improvement to my skin so soon after, as I was only using the product as a preventive treatment. I was very pleasantly surprised to notice an improvement to my skin after just a few months of use!

Many of the eye creams I have tried in the past have left my eyes feeling irritated and blurry the next morning. At £22.50 for a 14ml tub, the Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado is quite pricey. However, after reading so many great reviews I decided to give it a go and hope for the best – and it was totally worth the splurge![/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]As the name would suggest, one of the main ingredients is Avocado Oil – one of the world’s most moisturising fruit oils that is rich in amino acids and skin-loving vitamins. Together with Shea Butter and Beta-Carotene, it intensely nourishes and smoothes the delicate skin around the eyes, and has a unique formula that does not migrate into the eyes.

Because the formula is so concentrated, you only need to use the tiniest amount each time and I absolutely love the texture of the cream. It feels rich but not heavy on the skin and it’s also really gentle and non-irritating. Although I don’t have any wrinkles around my eyes, I already started to notice a difference to the texture of my skin after just a few months of use. My skin already feels so much softer than it did before – you can tell that my skin really loves the product.

If you’re after a new eye cream, or you want to start taking better of your skin I would highly recommend the Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado. I’ve already repurchased a back up of mine![/pipdig_padded_text]

The Most Perfect Lip Colour of The Year? | Charlotte Tilbury Bond Girl

[pipdig_padded_text]

My love for Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks is no secret. Not only is the formula second to none, but they also come in the most gorgeous, wearable shades – and the latest addition to my Charlotte Tilbury lipstick collection is possibly my favourite one of them all.

Last year, it was all about ‘Pillow Talk‘. This year, for me, is all about Charlotte Tilbury ‘Bond Girl’.

This may look like your average berry shade in the tube. However, a quick swipe across your lips reveals the most beautiful shade that you can’t quite put your hands on – it’s the perfect rose-brown-berry shade that looks so incredibly pretty. Whether you’re going for a natural daytime look or want to vamp things up for a night out, Bond Girl works incredibly well to enhance any makeup look – day or night. There’s something extra special about this shade that makes it so flattering and versatile to use and it has been my go-to lipstick ever since I got my hands on it.

[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Bond Girl comes in my favourite Charlotte Tilbury lipstick formulation, ‘Matte Revolution’ which gives a soft matte finish without drying out the lips. And the staying power is just incredible! I can put this on in the morning, have my lunch, drink several cups of tea and the lipstick will only have just started to fade. Seriously great stuff!

At £24, there are definitely many more affordable lipsticks out there. But if you’re looking to treat yourself to a seriously gorgeous shade that will last all day – Charlotte Tilbury ‘Bond Girl’ lipstick is where it’s at!

The Perfect Christmas Gift Idea | How To Choose The Perfect Fragrance

[pipdig_padded_text]

I’ve officially started my Christmas shopping for the year! And whilst I find some of my family and friends really easy to shop for at Christmas… others are pretty much impossible. Whether it’s because I don’t know the person very well or they’ve simply already got everything they need… we all know someone who is quite hard to shop for at Christmas!

However, as the years have gone by I found that there’s one type of present you can always fall back on when you want to make an impression at Christmas – something that is guaranteed to make your recipient’s day – and that’s a fragrance. Fragrance Direct recently launched their Christmas Gift Edit which features a range of iconic, classic and brand new luxury fragrances.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Although some may think that opting for a fragrance as a Christmas gift is a bit risky, as you don’t know what sort of scent your recipient will love, it’s not as hard as it may seem. By taking a few things into consideration first, you’ll be able to choose the perfect fragrance.

Is the person loud and outgoing? Go for a more bold, sultry fragrance. On the other hand, is the person generally quiet and reserved? Go for a light daytime scent they are more likely to enjoy. Are you planning to surprise them with a fragrance they would wear during the day – something light, floral – or one they would wear on nights out – a spicy, musky scent. What about their everyday style? Are they more likely to go for a casual look or do they like to make a bold, fashion statement on most days? The more understated their style, the less likely they are to go for a deep fragrance, so keep it fresh or opt for something rich and woody if they like to make a statement.

Below are two of my current favourite scents which would make the perfect gift this Christmas.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Chloe Signature Eau De Parfum

The Chloe Signature Eau de Parfum is a classic, feminine fragrance – perfect for a girly girl who likes a fragrance that is light and fresh yet still has a seductive touch! This is a gorgeous floral fragrance with top notes of peony, freesia and litchi, middle notes of rose, lily of the valley and magnolia, and base notes of amber and cedar. This is a very versatile feminine scent that would work fantasticly both during the day and on nights out – it’s got the perfect balance, whilst it’s popularity over the last few years goes to show that this one is a definite crowd-pleaser! Available here.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Marc Jacobs Decadence Eau de Parfum

The Marc Jacobs Decadence Eau de Parfum has been making waves all over the internet (and my Insta-feed!) recently – and for good reason too. Just look at the gorgeous bottle! with its bold green colour, snake-skin patterned top and black tassle on a luxurious gold chain, this one definitely makes a statement. It’s the perfect scent for someone who’s bold, loves luxury and likes to make a statement wherever they go. With top notes of plum, iris and saffron, middle notes of rose, jasmine and orris, and base notes of amber, vetiver and papyrus, this is one sexy scent that’s absolutely great for nights out, especially in the winter! Available here.

Apart from having some fantastic offers on most fragrances, Fragrance Direct are also offering free delivery with any order over £20 and a gift wrapping service. Perfect for getting most of your Christmas shopping done hassle-free!

GHOST Dream | The Perfect Year-Round Floral Fragrance

[pipdig_left]

I often like to switch up my fragrance when the seasons change as I end up feeling as though I smell too ‘summery’ or ‘wintery’. In fact, there are few scents that I love and feel as though I can wear all year round – but on the other hand, the new GHOST Dream fragrance fits this description perfectly.

If you’ve read any of my previous fragrance-themed posts, you might know that I absolutely love floral fragrances, so I knew that I would love the GHOST Dream fragrance, which was released earlier this year and is described as a ‘floral oriental scent’.

With top notes of Rose and Aquaflora, middle notes including Violet, Moroccan Orange Flower and Jasmine, and base notes of Musk and Patchouli, the fragrance has a wonderfully light (yet long-lasting) floral scent – which is great if you’re like me and don’t particularly enjoy overpowering scents. The scent feels ‘young’ and I can imagine wearing this in spring, summer, autumn or winter as there’s nothing too ‘summery’ or ‘wintery’ about it.

One thing which cannot go unnoticed about this fragrance is the particularly unique bottle! As you can see from the photos, the bottle comes in a distinctive crystal-like bottle in different shades of blue which look different depending on the sort of light it catches. Although this obviously does not effect the scent or performance of the product in any way, I just love when fragrances come in a gorgeous bottle such as this one – there’s something special about spritzing your favourite perfume on in the morning, when it also comes in a beautiful bottle!

Although this is my first fragrance from GHOST, it definitely won’t be my last. I love the floral scent, the bottle and just how long the scent lasts on the skin. All in all, it gets a big thumbs up from me.

5 Seriously Underrated Beauty Products You Need

[pipdig_padded_text]

We’ve all heard of those beauty products that are raved about online – the Urban Decay Naked Heat palette, NARS Sheer Glow foundation, Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara… However, there are so many beauty products out there that don’t receive the attention they deserve. Today I’ll be sharing 5 of my favourite products that are seriously underrated.

[/pipdig_padded_text][pipdig_banner image=”http://www.beautyandthebird.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/IMG_6247.jpg”][pipdig_padded_text]

Seriously Underrated Product 1 – Benefit Girl Meets Pearl Liquid Highlighter

The Benefit Girl Meets Pearl Liquid Highlighter has always been overshadowed by its cream-counterpart, the Watt’s Up Highlighter. This is such a shame as Girl Meets Pearl is one of the most beautiful highlighters that I own yet no one seems to mention it! Girl Meets Pearl comes in a champagne-gold shade that looks beautiful on pale skin and is packed with skin-loving ingredients. It’s really easy to blend and it just gives the most gorgeous natural-looking (yet buildable) glow to the high points of your face. You can see what it looks like applied to my skin in my full review post. The product can also be applied all over the face for an all over glow.

Seriously Underrated Product 2 – Eylure Brow Magician

So much attention is given to Eylure’s (admittedly amazing) eyelash range which means that their eyebrow range is often overlooked. I first came across the Eylure Brow Magician when I collaborated with Eylure on a post back in June and have used and loved the product ever since! The Brow Magician is a dual-ended product with a long-wear crayon on one end and a pigmented brow mascara on the other end. This is absolutely perfect when you’re rushed for time as it’s so quick and easy to shape, define and set your brows in place.

Seriously Underrated Product 3 – Eylure Brow Pomade

Yep, this is another brow product from Eylure which I couldn’t resist including! The Eylure Brow Pomade has been a life-saver (in brow terms) on those days when my brows look a bit messy. The Brow Pomade is waterproof and it’s also really long-lasting, making it great for summer. It comes in 3 shades – blonde, mid-brown and dark-brown and I’ve found that the blonde shade is a perfect match for my brows. For just £8.95, this is definitely worth picking up and shouting about![/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Seriously Underrated Product 4 – Milani Retouch + Erase Light Lifting Concealer

Milani is a brand that I only discovered earlier this year, and my only wish is that I’d tried their products out sooner! The Retouch + Erase Light Lifting Concealer is seriously one of the best concealers I have ever tried and it’s replaced my trusty old Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer as my everyday go-to concealer. The product has such good coverage so it’s great for covering up any blemishes, but it’s also creamy enough to work well underneath my eyes. I’m yet to try a concealer I love more than this!

Seriously Underrated Product 5 – Topshop Bronzer in ‘Mohawke’

Any fellow fair skinned girls will undoubtedly be familiar with the struggle to find a bronzer that’s pale enough to leave you with a natural bronzed look, as opposed to a muddy-looking mess. The Topshop Bronzer in the shade ‘Mohawke’ is a matte bronzer that blends out really nicely on the skin and leaves even the palest of us looking like bronzed goddesses. You can see it in action in my ‘subtle contour‘ blog post. As with most Topshop Beauty products, this product isn’t always available – Topshop tend to bring lots of their makeup items in and out of stock every few months. However, I’d highly recommend grabbing this when you next see it around!

What is your number 1 most underrated beauty product?

6 Favourite Makeup Brands | Drugstore & High End Makeup Recommendations

[pipdig_banner image=”http://www.beautyandthebird.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/IMG_6195.jpg”][pipdig_padded_text]

As a beauty blogger, there are many makeup brands that I adore and frequently write about on my blog and social media. So today I thought I would round up 6 of my current go-to makeup brands and share some of my recommendations from each brand.

PS – Let me know what your favourite makeup brands are in the comments section. I’d love your recommendations too![/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Charlotte Tilbury

Charlotte Tilbury is one of the first high end makeup brands that I bought into, and to this day I still adore the brand! The luxurious rose gold packaging and thought that goes behind every single product released by Charlotte Tilbury makes the brand really stand out. Some of my favourite products from Charlotte Tilbury include the Magic Foundation and Matte Revolution Lipstick in ‘Amazing Grace’. Although the products are quite pricey, the luxurious feel and fantastic quality makes them worth every single penny. I’ve previously written a post about the best and worst Charlotte Tilbury products, which you might be interested in checking out!

NARS Cosmetics

NARS is a brand that I had been dying to try out for years and I was so happy to get my hands on some of their products earlier this year. Anyone who enjoys reading beauty blogs or watching beauty videos on YouTube would have definitely come across the many positive reviews of NARS products. One of the most highly raved about NARS products is the Sheer Glow Foundation, so I was very excited to try this out for myself – and it has since become one of my favourite ever foundations! It is packed with skin-loving antioxidants and leaves you with the most natural-looking, flawless skin. I am also a huge fan of the Dual Intensity Blush which leave you with glowy, healthy-looking cheeks and the lasting power is the best I ever experienced with a blusher!

L’Oreal

L’Oreal is a brand that I have loved and trusted for the longest amount of years. Although it is a high street brand, the quality of their products is frequently comparable to more high end products. I recently wrote about their newly released Hydra Genius Aloe Water, which is my current go-to morning moisturiser. However, it’s not just their skincare which I love – their makeup range is pretty damn good too! Both the Infallible 24 Hour Foundation and the True Match Foundation are two really great drugstore foundations which I would recommend, and no matter how many liquid liners I try, I always go back to the Superliner Perfect Slim, which I can always count on to give me the perfect feline flick.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Rimmel London

Rimmel is another one of my top drugstore makeup brands that I always have in my makeup bag. They are one of the most affordable brands available in the drugstore, and also one of the best! All the foundations that I have tried from Rimmel, including the Wake Me Up Foundation, Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation and Lasting Finish 25 Hour Nude Foundation, are just incredible quality and never let me down! I also love the Rimmel Matte Lipsticks and of course the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder is also a great drugstore powder (although I am currently loving the MAC Studio Fix Powder too).

Benefit Cosmetics

Benefit is another brand that I have grown really fond of over the past years. Their super fun, girly and witty branding is on-point, and they are a great brand to look out for if you’re after innovative, great-quality products. Of course, Benefit are mostly known for their impressive eyebrow range (and also their Brow Bar service – which I reviewed here). My favourite products from the range are the KA-BROW! Cream-Gel Colour and the Gimme Brow Volumising Eyebrow Gel which is perfect for super-quick full-looking brows. I am also a huge fan of the Girl Meets Pearl Liquid Highlighter which is a beautiful golden-rose highlighter that you (strangely) almost never hear about online! I rounded up the best and worst Benefit products in a previous post too.

Topshop Beauty

My final favourite makeup brand is one that doesn’t get the recognition it deserves – Topshop Beauty! As Topshop is primarily known for its fashion, you might not think that the makeup range is any good, but it sooooooo is!! I have quite a few Topshop Beauty products in my collection and 99% of the time I am very impressed with how their makeup performs. Check out my previous post for recommendations on the best products from Topshop Beauty. ps – They also do the best bronzer for pale skin, which I reviewed here.

My Complete Summer Skincare Routine | Morning, Afternoon + Evening

[pipdig_padded_text]

In the 4 years that I’ve been blogging, I’ve never actually posted a skincare routine. And there’s a good reason for that. Up until earlier this year, I never managed to stick to a skincare routine! However, ever since I turned 25 in April I have been consciously making an effort to take better care of my skin. So this is my complete summer skincare routine.

Apart from sharing the skincare products that I use in the morning and evening, I thought I’d also include the products that I like to use during the day.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Morning Skincare Routine

I like to keep my morning skincare routine as quick and simple as possible. After all, who has time for a full-blown skincare session when you can get an extra few minutes in bed!?

The first product I use on my face in the mornings is the Boots  Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Foaming Face Wash. I actually got sent a PR sample of this earlier this year when I tested out the Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel range for 1 month and I ended up loving this one so much that I have since repurchased it – and as you can see from the bottle, I’ll probably have to purchase this again soon! I love this face wash as it is so refreshing and helps wake me up in the morning. It also feels really gentle on my face and although it’s a foaming cleanser it doesn’t dry out my skin. Best of all, this costs under a fiver!

I then like to apply a lightweight moisturiser, and for that I have been using the L’Oreal Hydra Genius Aloe Water, which I reviewed in this post. I love this because it gets absorbed really quickly and feels more like a serum than a moisturiser. It also works really well as a base underneath your makeup which gets major plus points from me! Finally, I like to spritz some of the Garnier Moisture Bomb Multi-Protecting Hydrating Mist which has SPF30 and also protects your skin from any pollution in the air. On-the-go Skincare Routine

Although I’m not normally one to carry around a full makeup bag with me in my bag to touch up my makeup throughout the day, I do enjoy carrying a couple of products with me to help my skin feel refreshed whilst I’m out and about.

The first product I keep in my bag is the Garnier Moisture Bomb Multi-Hydrating Mist which I’ve already mentioned above. This can be used both underneath and over makeup, and it’s great for topping up your SPF protection, especially on sunny days. It’s also really light so doesn’t add much weight to your bag. I also like to keep a small bottle of the Lush Eau Roma Toner Water which I have been a fan of for around 2 years now. Although this is a toner, it can also be used to keep your face hydrated and refreshed throughout the day. I normally spritz this over my face (it doesn’t smudge your makeup!) when my face is feeling a bit dry, and because it’s made using Lavender essential oil it smells amazing and can help ease anxiety. Lush do a 100ml and 250ml version of this, and the 100ml version is perfect for keeping with you when travelling.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Evening Skincare Routine

The evening is when I like to dedicate a bit more time to my skincare regime – partly because I’ve got more time and partly because it’s such a great way of winding down before getting into bed.

I start by removing the day’s makeup using the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water, which I recently got in a huge 700ml bottle for just a fiver from Boots! It’s cheap and cheerful, fuss-free and does the job wonderfully! It’s great if you’ve got sensitive skin that tends to break out when using heavy products too. Following this, I reach for my Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Foaming Face Wash once again to get rid of any traces of makeup that may be left on my skin and freshen up my face before getting into bed.

Once I pop my PJs on and head to bed I turn to my bedside beauty products. I start by spritzing the Lush Eau Roma Toner Water over my face to soothe my skin and enjoy the relaxing lavender scent. Once this dries, I reach for another bedtime-perfect product, the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate. After deliberating on whether or not I should purchase this, I finally picked it up earlier this year and I couldn’t be happier with what it’s done to my skin. After applying a couple of drops to my face at night, I wake up with a really healthy glow to my skin. This can be used on its own or before your moisturiser, however I find that it normally does a pretty good job by itself! If my skin is particularly dry, I like to use the Nuxe Creme Fraiche de Beaute for an extra dose of hydration.

Finally, I like to focus on the area around my eyes. I have tried several eye creams in the past, however they always seem to leave my eyes feeling irritated and watery the next day. I recently picked up the Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado after reading several positive reviews, and I’m pleased to say that I have finally found an eye cream which is gentle enough on my eyes! I normally pat in a small amount of the product on the area around my eyes, and love how hydrating it feels.
