The Cleansing Oil That Beats All Other Cleansing Oils | Caudalie Make-up Removing Cleansing Oil

[pipdig_padded_text]

When it comes to removing my makeup, I’m not normally a fan of cleansing oils. I find that they’re not usually effective at removing *all* of my makeup and can leave behind a breakout-inducing greasy film on my skin. However, Caudalie is a skincare brand that I have tried and loved in the past so I really wanted to give their Make-up Removing Cleansing Oil a go to see what it was like – and I’m *so* glad I did.

[/pipdig_padded_text]
[pipdig_padded_text]

The Caudalie Make-up Removing Cleansing Oil is made using a gentle yet effective formula that claims to dissolve all types of makeup, including waterproof mascara. It is advertised as being suitable for sensitive skin (which I sometimes have) and promises to leave your skin feeling perfectly cleansed and refreshed with none of the greasiness that many other cleansing oils leave behind.

Caudalie recommends that you use 3 pumps of the oil and warm this between your palms before massaging it onto dry skin with your eyes closed, which sounds easy enough.

I like my makeup removers to be quick and easy to use. After all, removing your makeup isn’t the most fun or interesting thing to do. I normally use the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water to remove my makeup as it’s the most fast and effective way of removing my makeup – or so I thought. The Caudalie Make-up Removing Cleansing Oil is *A-M-A-Z-I-N-G* and so much better if you’re like me and like to get rid of your makeup fast! After massaging the oil into my skin for a few seconds I could feel all my makeup instantly breaking down – including my mascara. I have recently been using the Benefit BadGAL BANG! mascara and although it is great at adding volume to my lashes, it’s not usually the easiest mascara to remove at the end of the day. However, the Caudalie Make-up Removing Cleansing Oil has no trouble at all in completely removing the mascara, which I was super impressed by!

After massaging the oil into my skin and rinsing it off, my skin is left feeling really soft, clean and fresh – and as promised, there was no greasy film left behind!

5 Natural Ways To Get A Fresh Spring Look | Guest Post

[pipdig_padded_text]

Spring is in the air, but unfortunately your skin still has the winter blues. Enhance your natural beauty by making your skin look and feel better the natural way. Here are our 5 tips to get you a fresh spring look.

1.   The Right Diet

We aren’t telling you to go on a diet but just watch what you put on your plate. Oily foods, such as dairy products tend to cause more breakouts. Eating foods that are low fat and low sugar help promote glowy skin. Also, eating a diet with a lot of vitamin C helps as well. You should also be drinking plenty of water, 8 glasses a day, minimum. In order to continue to stay hydrated and keep your skin hydrated, eat fruits and vegetables that have a high water content. A few examples are: Cantaloupe, watermelon, cucumber, grapefruit, strawberries, and orange. You can also benefit from adding supplements to your diet to give you that extra boost. Read more about Scams Review to see which supplements are best.

2.   Get Physical

Working out can be difficult to add to your routine if it is something you have not been doing. It is very important to keep your blood flowing through your entire body. After working out, you will notice a glow on your face. Even if you don’t have the time, a walk around the block will make a huge difference. Physical activity is not only good for your physical health and appearance, it is also extremely beneficial to your mental health. Working out causes your body to produce endorphins and endorphins make you feel good. It actually may even cause working out to be addictive. So you will need to push yourself the first few times, but after that, you won’t want to stop

3.   Rinse and Repeat

You need to wash your face 2 times a day with warm water and a cleanser. You should gently massage the cleanser into your skin. The cleanser should contain alpha hydroxy acid or beta hydroxy acid. You should then pat dry and apply a lotion containing benzoyl peroxide, which has antibacterial actions. You should also prep your skin before a workout with a toner to minimize oil production and exfoliate after. You then can apply a moisturizer with shea butter or olive oil. Even though it is is extremely difficult for many, do not pop those zits! Worse case scenario would be scarring but there really is no best case scenario since it will most likely cause more redness and inflammation. If you do see or feel a pimple coming, you can clean the area with rose water, and for 10 minutes leave a cold tea bag on it. Attention all sunglasses and glasses wearers; clean them! They could be causing breakouts around your eyes and nose caused from a buildup of oil and clogged pores.

4.   Rest Up

Life gets busy, and unfortunately the first thing to usually go is our beauty sleep. You should really try to get at least 8 hours every night. Not enough sleep means you and your skin are tired, which definitely will not leave you looking fresh and glowy. You will get dark under eye circles and that just isn’t a cute look on anyone. There are a few other ways to soothe your skin, such as applying honey on it 2 or 3 times a week. Yes, it will definitely be a sticky situation, but well worth it. Don’t forget to wash your bedding along with your pillowcases. That’s where all your oil is being built up. It is recommended to wash your sheets once a week.

5.   Don’t Stress

Don’t sweat the small stuff is what everyone will tell you but now we’re telling you to avoid stress as much as possible. It will only hurt you mentally and physically. Stress causes breakouts, it is a known fact. Stress causes our bodies to produce hormones such as cortisol which causes the skin to be more oily. You can teach yourself stress management techniques like yoga, meditation, and breathing exercises. There are also benefits to doing facial and jawline exercises. They will keep the skin on your neck looking tight and young.[/pipdig_padded_text]

How To Have The Most Relaxing Spring Night In

[pipdig_padded_text]

Unwinding and treating yourself to a pamper night in winter is pretty easy – run yourself a bath, light a scented candle and cosy up in a onesie. However, as the weather starts to warm up in spring, I’m less prone to a hot bath and always look for an alternative to having the perfect night in.

Today I’ll be sharing some of my essentials for having the most relaxing spring night in – sans a Lush bath bomb/scented candle/cosy onesie.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

A cute pair of spring pyjamas is a must-have for a relaxing night in – there’s no way you can fully relax if you’re still wearing the same outfit you wore to work. Anyone who knows me will know that I am obsessed with Mr Men/Little Miss merch (25 going on 5) and I am currently loving this Little Miss Princess Pyjama Set from Matalan, which is an absolute bargain at just £15 and is perfect for this time of year as it comes with a t-shirt and a pair of comfy leggings. In fact, Matalan have a fantastic range of good quality spring/summer pyjama sets and nightwear at such affordable prices. I love the look of the Pink Panther ‘Feline Sleepy’ pyjama set and the heart print cotton short pyjama set is perfect for summer.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Making a cup of tea in one of your favourite mugs is a great way of unwinding on a night in. I personally love Yorkshire Tea Decaf in the evenings. If it’s not that, then I’m usually sipping on a cup of herbal tea. Peppermint and chamomile teas are great for relaxing in the evenings. The Bluebird Tea Co. also make a really lovely herbal tea blend called ‘Dozy Girl’ which contains chamomile, rose petals and lavender – the perfect night-time treat. Looking for more tea-spiration? Check out my post on my top tea recommendations.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_left][/pipdig_left]

[pipdig_right][/pipdig_right]

[pipdig_padded_text]We spend so much time staring at our screens – whether that is our phone, tablet or laptop – and a night in is the perfect time to enjoy a little digital detox. Treating yourself to a new book (or a magazine if you’re after something a bit lighter to read) is a great way of switching off from technology for a few hours. I personally enjoy reading books that are lighthearted and funny – especially when I want to relax. ‘My Not So Perfect Life’ by Sophie Kinsella is the perfect example of this. A relatable character, great storyline and plenty of laugh out loud moments![/pipdig_padded_text]

 [pipdig_padded_text]
For me, no spring night in is complete without a relaxing beauty regime. I find that taking the time to treat my body and skin to the care it deserves can leave me feeling so refreshed. Starting with a face mask, I have been really enjoying the L’Oreal Pure Clay Glow Mask which contains a blend of clays and red algae extract that leaves my skin feeling so smooth and healthy. I also use the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate on my skin every night and I find that it’s the perfect addition to my skincare routine all year round. The concentrate contains a blend of essential oils, including soothing lavender and is absorbed into the skin almost instantly. It then works its magic overnight so you can enjoy a smooth and bright complexion when you wake up in the morning.

Moving on to my hands and body, I love applying the L’Occitane Pivoine Flora Hand Cream to keep my hands feeling soft (and smelling great!). My number one recommendation for a relaxing body lotion on a night in is the Lush Sleepy Body Lotion. I first tried this body lotion back in 2016, and I have repurchased this a number of times since then. Sleepy body lotion contains lavender and oat milk and smells INCREDIBLE. I love using lavender based products in the evening, so this one is perfect. It’s also been formulated to sink into the skin quickly, so there’s no need to wait around for it to get absorbed before slipping into your PJs.

Finally, I always like to add a few drops of lavender oil to the under side my pillow, which helps me to relax even further and ensures a great night’s sleep!

The Beauty Benefits of Honey | Guest Post

[pipdig_padded_text]

Honey, with its various health benefits and medicinal properties, is considered as a “superfood.” It can help strengthen the immune system, reduce the risk of heart disease, speed up wound healing, ease cold and flu symptoms, and even regulate blood sugar levels despite its natural sweetness.

But apart from making your body stronger and healthier, the various nutrients, enzymes, antioxidants, and antiviral and antibacterial properties found in raw honey can also be beneficial for your skin, hair, and nails. Here are just a few of the beauty benefits that you can get from this superfood.

Cleanser and Exfoliator

Raw honey contains enzymes like diastase and invertase that help remove dirt and oil buildup from your pores, resulting in a clearer complexion. Honey also has natural antibacterial properties, which helps prevent acne breakouts. Try mixing one tablespoon of honey with two tablespoons of coconut oil for an all-natural pore cleanser.

To slough off dead skin cells without irritating your skin, you can combine two tablespoons of honey with one tablespoon of regular baking soda. The nutrients in honey help nourish and hydrate the new skin cells and prevent them from drying out, giving you a more radiant complexion right after exfoliating.

Skin Moisturiser

There’s a reason why skin care and beauty brands use raw honey in many of their products: it’s a natural humectant. This means that honey can actually draw moisture and bond with water molecules to hydrate the skin from within. The natural enzymes in honey also soften and condition the skin to let the moisturising action seep in deeper and last longer.

You can apply raw honey directly onto your face right after cleansing and let it sit for about 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing. If you’re not quite comfortable with the syrupy texture of honey, try products with raw honey as a base ingredient, like Skinfood’s Royal Honey Propolis Enrich Essence. It contains not just honey but also propolis and royal jelly that work together to deeply moisturize and strengthen the skin, and protect it from environmental damage as well.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Sunburn Treatment

Perhaps you didn’t use enough sunscreen, or maybe your favorite brand doesn’t have enough SPF, or you forgot to reapply sunscreen after you got out of the pool. Whatever the reason for your sunburn, honey can give you some sweet relief — literally — because it has both anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties that help reduce pain and speed up healing of your skin. Honey can also help nourish and protect the damaged skin as it repairs itself. Once the sunburn heals, you can continue applying honey to the affected area, as a salve to soothe and moisturize the new skin.

For an easy-to-prepare homemade sunburn remedy, mix one tablespoon of raw honey with two tablespoons of pure aloe vera gel. Massage the mixture gently onto the sunburned skin at least twice a day, or as needed to alleviate the discomfort.

Nail Cuticle Repair and Protection

Dry skin on your hands can lead to cracked cuticles, which are not only unappealing to look at but also a way for fungi, bacteria, and other disease-causing substances and organisms to enter the body. To restore your nail cuticles and protect them from further damage, mix 1 tablespoon each of raw honey and lemon juice or apple cider vinegar with a cup of warm water. Use the mixture to coat both your nails and cuticles; let it sit for about 10 minutes and rinse off with cold water. You can repeat this process once a month, or a couple of hours before you have a manicure.

To further moisturize and keep your hands soft and supple, you can use oils like coconut, jojoba, or olive mixed with honey as a moisturizing ointment.

Hair Conditioner

In the same way that it hydrates your skin, honey can also lock in moisture in your hair, making it soft and shiny without weighing it down. If you’re already using coconut oil to treat your hair, just add some honey to it and apply as you would a regular hair conditioner after shampooing, concentrating on the bottom two-thirds of your hair. Let it sit for about 15 minutes then rinse thoroughly.

Honey’s antifungal properties also helps unclog your hair follicles. Just dilute a tablespoon of raw honey with 1-2 ml of water (use a medicine dropper if you want to be accurate) and massage it onto your scalp for at least two minutes. Use warm water for rinsing to soothe your scalp. You can do this every other day until your dandruff is completely gone.

These are just a few ways that you can use honey for your beauty and personal care regimen. Try them now and see the difference![/pipdig_padded_text]

Is Benefit BADgal BANG! Really Out of This World?

[pipdig_padded_text]

By now we’ve all heard about Benefit’s exciting new launch – the BADgal BANG! Mascara. I’m a big fan of Benefit’s previous mascara launches, particularly the They’re Real mascara which is one of my all-time favourite mascaras, so I was looking forward to giving the new BADgal BANG! mascara a go.

Does this mascara really live up to all the hype that has surrounded its launch?

[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Firstly, can we all agree on just how cool the packaging looks?! Pink, black and with a studded top, the packaging is definitely a WINNER!

The main selling point of the BADgal BANG! mascara is that it promises to give you an impressive 36 hours of full-blast volume. Personally, I wear my mascara for around 8-10 hours a day, but I have seen some YouTubers test out the mascara for a full 36 hours and it seemed to do pretty well, so my expectations for this mascara were high.

The mascara wand is plastic, just like Benefit’s other mascaras. Although I normally prefer a natural bristle brush to a plastic wand, Benefit mascaras seem to be an exception as they somehow work really well with my lashes (naturally quite long but lacking volume). The BADgal BANG! mascara features a new brush by Benefit that contains 300 soft half cone-shaped bristles to maximise the product deposit on each lash, thereby increasing the volume. It also contains aero-particles, one of the lightest known materials that is derived from space technology, in order to avoid weighing the lashes down with the volume.

The formula itself is designed to layer on easily for bigger lashes and is smudge-proof, flake-free and water-resistant so it should well and truly last all day.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

So, how did I personally find the BADgal BANG! mascara?

[/pipdig_padded_text] [pipdig_padded_text]

I like having big dramatic-looking lashes as part of my everyday makeup. Even though I like to keep my makeup looking quite natural, I find that a good mascara can really help my eyes look bigger and more awake, even on early mornings.

The first thing I noticed was that the formula of the mascara is quite wet, which made me doubt how much I’d like this. However, as soon as I applied my first fresh layer of BADgal BANG! on my lashes, all my doubts melted away – it is incredible! Just one layer provides so much volume, and the mascara is a TRUE black (not a grey-ish black like some other mascaras!). I’ve read some reviews which said that the mascara looked clumpy on their lashes, however personally the mascara looked just fine on me, and as you can see from the photo above, there’s not a clump in sight!

The mascara lasted very well on my lashes throughout the day and I’m looking forward to carry on using this through to the summer months, when a water-resistant mascara is definitely a good idea – especially on hot days or when on holiday! I love using makeup products that you can just apply once at the beginning of the day, and not have to worry about it until you go to remove your makeup in the evening, and this is a great mascara for that.

Compared to the Benefit They’re Real mascara, the BADgal BANG! is definitely more volumising although the They’re Real mascara is ever so slightly more lengthening. But if it’s more dramatic lashes that you’re after, the BADgal BANG! is the way to go! Available online from Benefit.

Have you tried the BADgal BANG! mascara or do you love any of the other Benefit mascaras?

Love Benefit? Then you’ll love these posts!

How To Find a New Signature Scent That You’ll Love With John Lewis

[pipdig_padded_text]

Finding a scent you adore can be a tricky and overwhelming experience, and that is why when we find a scent we love, we tend to stick to it. If it stands the test of time, we eventually go on to class it as our ‘signature scent’ – a scent that those around us will associate with us…

However, the problem with wearing one particular fragrance over a long period of time, is that eventually you get so used to it that you can’t really smell it and enjoy it any more.

John Lewis recently launched their new #JLSignatureScents campaign, which is all about finding a new signature scent that you will love, based on your current signature scent.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

I actually have two signature scents, both of which are quite similar. These are the Bulgari Rose Goldea Eau de Parfum and the Valentino Donna Eau de Parfum, both of which are classic, floral scents that are perfect for day and night.

Based on my two favourite scents, the fragrance expert at John Lewis recommended the Miller Harries Rose Silence Eau de Parfum;

“Rachel’s two favourite fragrances, Bulgari Rose Goldea and Valentino Donnam, are centred around the classic Rose. Therefore I am confident that she will fall in love with British brand Miller Harris’ take on the rose, ‘Rose Silence’. It’s an intoxicating fragrance, and one of their best selling lines. The rose notes are fresh, yet understones of sandalwood create an unexpected, multidimensional impression.”

So… what did I think of my new recommended signature scent?

[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Basically, I adore it.

Miller Harris is a luxury british fragrance brand that I was not familiar with until I received my recommendation from John Lewis. And now I really wish that I had discovered the brand sooner. ‘Rose Silence’ literally smells like my perfect scent. It is floral (of course) yet still modern and it smells really fresh. The fragrance is light and doesn’t feel overpowering yet it is incredibly long-lasting. I find that some heavy fragrances can give me a headache, however this is perfect as it is so light and crisp, yet still detectable throughout the day. It is just so me.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

I would probably never have discovered this perfume if it wasn’t thanks to the John Lewis fragrance experts, and I’m so thankful that I did. I can already tell that this will be a fragrance I will continue to wear and enjoy in the foreseeable future!

Discover your new signature scent at John Lewis online, or pop into your nearest store for some expert advice on choosing a fragrance you will undoubtedly love.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Tangle Angel Pro Compact Review + GIVEAWAY!

[pipdig_padded_text]

I’ve been a big fan of the Tangle Angel brushes for around a year now. They are by far the most good looking brushes I own! Added to that, they are also great at gently detangling your hair to leave it looking smooth and knot-free.

Tangle Angel recently released their new Tangle Angel Pro Compact brush. This is just like the original Tangle Angel brush that I love (see my original blog post here) but this one also makes a great travel companion! Whether you’re off on a weekend break or you simply want a brush that you can pop into your handbag whilst you’re out and about, the Tangle Angel Pro is perfect.

Apart from its handy compact size, the brush comes with a removable bristle cover so your brush won’t be damaging anything while it’s in your bag. It also comes with its own integral mirror which is SO handy as I literally always forget to pack a mirror in my handbag! The attention to details doesn’t stop there, as the brush has also been designed to incorporate antibacterial additives in the plastic, which minimises the bacteria that it could potentially attract when you’re out and about.

The brush is safe to use on both dry or wet hair, and it is also heat resistant (up to 160 degrees) so it also makes a great blow drying brush, which is very useful especially if you’re staying overnight at a hotel and don’t want to pack your weighty round blow drying brush. The brush also helps minimise static and flyaway hairs, which I always tend to get when I’ve just blow dried my hair.

The brush comes in a gorgeous rose gold colour like mine, and a silver/chrome which also looks beautiful! Available online for £19.50.

Want to win your own Tangle Angel Compact Pro? Keep scrolling!

The Benefits of Laser Hair Removal at Pulse Light Clinic London

[pipdig_padded_text]

As spring starts to gets closer, we all start to prepare ourselves for getting out of our high-waisted jeans and into our short floral dresses and favourite skirts. Now is a good time to start thinking of prepping yourself for the warmer days ahead.

Pulse Light Clinic London offer a professional laser hair removal service in 3 different clinics around London, with over 10 years of experience.

Laser hair removal uses laser technology to remove or reduce unwanted hair. This works by targeting the unwanted hair follicle with laser light, which damages and eventually destroys the hair follicle, thereby preventing the follicle from producing any more unwanted hairs. The laser targets the hair that is in its active growing phase, therefore more than one treatment is normally required to treat all the unwanted hair, since different hair follicles are in different growth stages at any one time.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

There are several benefits of laser hair removal, as opposed to other methods of hair removal:

  • No need to regularly shave or wax, therefore it is cost effective
  • Reduces excessive hair growth
  • A permanent reduction in hair growth
  • No painful and unsightly ingrown hairs
  • Leaves you with smooth skin
  • Less irritation to the skin than other methods of hair removal
  • Leaves skin surrounding the hair follicle undamaged

Pulse Light London clinics are open until 8pm on weekdays and weekends and can be found in Bank (0207 523 5158), Tottenham Court Road (0207 205 4085) and Liverpool Street (0207 593 8055). Walk-in’s are welcome at the clinic and a free consultation and patch test is included in the service.

Find out more about Pulse Light Clinic London’s Laser Hair Removal in the video below:

5 Beauty Mistakes I Wish I’d Avoided When I First Got Into Makeup

[pipdig_padded_text]

I first got into makeup when I was around 14 years old – back in 2006 when everyone my age was obsessed with lining their lower waterline with tons of black kohl eyeliner. Little did I know that it would make my already small eyes look even smaller and would add virtually nothing to my overall appearance. However, that’s not the only beauty mistake I wish I’d avoided when I first got into makeup…

I guess that, as with anything else, you’re bound to make some mistakes when you first start getting into makeup. The only problem with making errors on the makeup front is that these errors are pretty visible considering that they’re ON YOUR FACE. I know I’m not the only one who cringes when looking back at photos from my early-to-mid teens. Here are some of the mistakes I really wish I’d steered clear of.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Mistake 1 – Applying eyeliner beneath my bottom lashes

For the first year or two, the only makeup I wore was my trusty black kohl eyeliner and some mascara on my top lashes. And I started out by applying the eyeliner beneath my bottom lashes only – a great look if you were going for panda vibes. Some time later, I braved the ‘eyeliner in the waterline’ trend which I’d always been scared to do, and once I’d mastered this, it was all I ever did! Little did I know that this made my eyes appear tiny! Nowadays, I rarely ever use kohl eyeliner and prefer to apply some black liquid eyeliner above my lashes to make my eyes appear slightly bigger.

Mistake 2 – Wearing foundation over my lips

By the age of 17 I delved into the world of foundations – not that I needed it! My skin was perfectly clear, but I used it to help cover up my freckles (which I really don’t mind nowadays!). And not only did my foundation cover my freckles, but it also covered up my lips – and we all know how attractive foundation lips look! I wasn’t even a little bit interested in lipstick at the time – in fact, it wasn’t until I was around 21 that I actually got into wearing lipstick. So the least I should have done was wipe the excess foundation off my lips!

Mistake 3 – Wearing the totally wrong shade of foundation (+ not blending it down my neck)

Choosing your first foundation – especially if this is a drugstore foundation that you must colour-match yourself – is bound to go wrong. I’ve always known that my skin is really fair, but when it came to choosing a foundation, I seemed to think that I was much more tanned than I could ever hope to be! Wearing the wrong foundation is never a good look – especially when it stops sharply on your jawline, leaving you with a very attractive harsh orange line. If your foundation is a bit too dark for your skin, you can somtimes get away with blending it down your neck – but this is something I wasn’t aware of back then!

Mistake 4 – Not wearing any blusher – or wearing way too much

Me and blusher have had a rather difficult relationship over the years, and it took me a fair while to learn how to apply just the right amount of blusher (and check that it still looks ok in bright light, after having applied it in my dark bedroom early in the morning!). At first, I wasn’t interested in blusher at all, leaving me with a very flat looking one (orange) colour complexion. Then, when I did finally want to experiment with blusher, I went slightly (read: very) overboard, and decided never to touch the stuff again. Eventually, and with the right tools I got the hand of it, and I don’t feel that my makeup looks complete when I don’t wear blush nowadays!

Mistake 5 – Not bothering to do anything with my eyebrows

This is both a good and a not-so-good thing. It’s a good thing because I never over-plucked my eyebrows, which actually left me with eyebrows. However, I never bothered to shape them or fill them in, in any way. I thought that nobody really cared about eyebrows anyway – it’s all about the eyeliner/orange foundation OBVS! As time went by, I tried applying a slightly-too-dark eyebrow pencil, and it wasn’t until just a few years ago when I started filling in my eyebrows using a powder, then eventually moved onto other products such as the Benefit Gimme Brow and Benefit KA-Brow, both of which I absolutely love.

Did you make any of these mistakes when you first got into makeup?

My Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick Collection

[pipdig_padded_text]

Ever since I made my first ever Charlotte Tilbury purchase back in 2016, my love for the brand has grown and grown. Some of my favourite products from Charlotte Tilbury are the lipsticks – the formula is just spot on.

Although my Charlotte Tilbury lipstick collection is small compared to some others, I love every single shade I own and so I thought I would talk you through the shades in my collection so far.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

I’ve previously spoken about the best and worst Charlotte Tilbury products that I own, and the lipsticks are definitely worth every single penny. At £24, these lipsticks are definitely more on the pricey side – however the formula is so much better than any other lipstick I have tried and you really get what you pay for in terms of quality.

My favourite Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks come in the ‘Matte Revolution’ formula. This gives a matte finish without drying the lips and the best thing about it is that it is seriously long lasting! The formula also contains what Charlotte Tilbury calls ‘3D glowing pigments’ which create the illusion of fuller lips instead of flat, matte lips. The formula feels so comfortable to wear and most of the time I forget I’ve even got any lipstick on until I look in the mirror or somebody compliments it.

So, what shades do I currently have in my collection? Below are the lipsticks in order of how I purchased them.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Charlotte Tilbury ‘Liv It Up’

For my first Charlotte Tilbury lipstick, I decided to go for an everyday wearable shade and opted for the shade ‘Liv It Up’ – a cute and summery pastel pink shade with slight blue undertones. This is my only lipstick that is not in the Matte Revolution formula – instead it comes in the K.I.S.S.I.N.G formula, which is more hydrating. It has a more satin/slightly glossy finish and is one that I really enjoy wearing when I’ve got dry lips. Considering it is not matte, it is still pretty long lasting! I tend to reach for this shade more often during the spring/summer months. Review here.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Charlotte Tilbury ‘Amazing Grace’

I bought this lovely rose pink shade when I was on holiday in Edinburgh – and it was my most worn lipstick for the longest time! It’s the perfect bright-but-not-too-bright pink shade that can easily compliment a daytime or an evening look and it’s great for adding a pop of colour without feeling OTT. It’s a shade that I feel would suit most skin tones. This comes in the Matte Revolution formula, which is great as it lasts really long on the lips. Review here.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Charlotte Tilbury ‘The Queen’

This was by far one of my braver choices when purchasing a high-end lipstick. I normally tend to stick to shades that I know I could wear on most days, however ‘The Queen’ is a fuchsia pink shade and is definitely one that I normally save for special occasions when I want to go for a bolder look. Although I love the shade, it’s my least used one out of my whole collection. Perhaps I should try and go for a bolder look even when I don’t have a special occasion planned?! Charlotte Tilbury ‘Pillow Talk’

When this lipstick was released a year ago, ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE. It was one of the most talked about lipsticks of the year, and although I was slightly worried that I was simply giving in to the hype when I purchased this, it turned out to be my most worn lipstick of all time, out of all the lipsticks that I own. ‘Pillow Talk’ is a pinky nude shade which I reach for on pretty much a daily basis. It’s the perfect everyday lipstick that adds a hint of colour to the lips and makes them look fuller. Originally a limited edition shade, this is now available all year round – and I’ve come to rely on it so much that I will most likely be repurchasing this one. Review here.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Charlotte Tilbury ‘Bond Girl’

‘Bond Girl’ is my most recent purchase from the Tilbs, and it’s probably the shade I would recommend to anyone looking for an all round great shade that can be worn with any look – day or night. It’s the perfect in between rose-brown-berry shade that I have been reaching for when I want something a bit bolder than the ‘Pillow Talk’ but less bold than ‘The Queen’. It looks gorgeous with a bronze-gold eye! Review here.[/pipdig_padded_text]

How To Reduce Acne Scars & Achieve Clear Skin

[pipdig_padded_text]

As if acne itself wasn’t enough of a bother, it often leaves behind small scars that can take be pretty hard to get rid of. Acne scars form due to the skin damage left behind from the acne itself, especially if it is severe or quite inflamed. However, the good news is that there actually are some ways in which you can reduce acne scars and achieve a smooth complexion.

Acne Scar Removal Treatment

One of the most effective ways to reduce the appearance of acne scars is with a professional acne scar removal treatment. Places such as The Skin Repair Clinic provide this treatment which uses collagen induction therapy which allows your body to regenerate and repair the skin, to help improve the appearance of the skin following the damage caused by acne scars. This treatment enables new collagen to form, new skin cells to be generated and enhanced blood supply to the area to allow your skin to repair itself quicker. The treatment is quick and uses a specialist medical device which causes no pain.

If you’re interested in learning how to administer treatments such as LED Phototherapy, Ultrasonic Facelifts, or Micro Needling, The Skin Repair Clinic offers a range of training courses that are well worth checking out.

Chemical Peels

Although acne scar treatment is the best way of improving deep acne scarring, chemical peels can help improve the appearance of more mild acne scars. Chemical peels work by removing the top layers of the skin to help smoothen the surface. The type of chemical peel used varies according to each individual’s case, from milder AHA peels to slightly stronger TCA peels and even stronger Phenol peels, with each type of peel having its advantages and disadvantages. TCA peels and Phenol peels are most commonly used to reduce the appearance of acne scarring.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil can help mild scarring. Coconut oil is full of fatty acids that have anti-bacterial and anti-microbial properties that fight acne-causing bacteria in the skin. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that help to soothe the skin, and is rich in vitamins A, E and K which are great for healthy looking skin. Use this alone or mix with honey and aloe vera for an even more soothing treatment for the skin. Apply this to the face for around 30 minutes then rinse off and repeat this process twice a week.[/pipdig_padded_text]
