The Perfect Pamper Evening | A Cosy Autumn Night In

Ahh.. bath time, the perfect way of unwinding after a long day at work and the best start to any pamper night. Yet according to a recent study, a third of us take just 4 baths a year – instead opting for a shower on most days in order to save time. However, I’m a firm believer that treating yourself to some quality ‘me time’ is a great way to relax after a busy day and get a better night’s sleep.

One of my favourite ways to de-stress after a hectic day is by treating myself to a cosy pamper evening. Especially now that the days are getting colder and shorter, it’s so nice to enjoy a long, hot bath and a face mask before slipping into some cosy PJs and getting into bed.

It’s easy to understand why it might be tempting to opt for a shower on most days, as baths can definitely be more time consuming. However, I believe that taking the time to have a bath and truly pamper ourselves at least once a week can be very beneficial to our wellbeing. After all, having a bath has been scientifically proven to relieve stress, soothe the skin (especially when using the right products), improve circulation, and aid sleep.

To me, having the perfect pamper night in is one of the best ways to enjoy a cosy autumn night in.

How to: The Perfect Pamper Night

Step 1: Run a warm bath

The first step to having the perfect pamper night is by running a warm bath. Recently, I have been really enjoying the Nelsons Arnicare Bath & Massage Balm, a product I have only recently discovered. This is a luxurious dual-purpose product that can be used both in the bath, to soften the skin, and also as a massage oil to soothe aching muscles and nourish the skin. The balm is made from a combination of natural ingredients, including Arnica Montana extract, to leave the skin feeling silky soft, as well as Lavender, Grapefruit, Evening Primrose and Sweet Almond Oil to calm the senses and relax the mind. Available here.

Step 2: Light a scented candle

I love having a scented candle lit when I’m in the bath. The warm light emitted is great for creating ambient lighting, as opposed to the usual harsh bathroom lighting, and the scent, especially when this complements the scent of the bath oil, can really enhance the whole experience.

Step 3: Read a book/magazine

Although I love reading, I rarely find the time to get lost in a good book or magazine. A pamper evening is the perfect time to finally get started on that book you’ve been dying to read or catch up on your favourite monthly mag (anyone else absolutely devastated that Glamour will stop releasing a monthly print issue!?).

Step 4: Pamper your skin

Skipping the post-shower moisturiser is something I’m quite often tempted to do. However, I always make sure to use a moisturiser after getting out of the bath – I love the feeling of having super soft skin when I get into bed, and even more so the next morning! As I mentioned, the Nelsons Arnicare Bath & Massage Balm can also be used as a massage balm to moisturise the skin and using it after your bath is a great way for making the relaxing scent last even longer on your (super soft) skin.

Step 5: Get into your cosiest PJs

The best way to finish off a pamper night and transition into your bedtime routine is by getting into the cosiest PJs you own! Not only is this a great way to prepare yourself for a great night’s sleep but it also means that the scent of your bath product will linger over your skin/PJs all through the night, ensuring that you can enjoy a relaxing, restful and well-deserved sleep!

Are you more of a shower or a bath person?

Lush The Christmas Penguin

Earlier this month I treated myself to a few new bits from the Lush Christmas collection – you can check out my Christmas Lush haul here. Of all the things I picked up, one of them definitely stood out as the cutest, and that is the Lush Christmas Penguin. With two little holes for eyes, and a gummy sweet for a beak, I didn’t know whether I would have to heart to crumble him up in the bath – but I’m so glad I did (I feel so mean!).

Once you crumble the Christmas Penguin under running water, it fills your bath with lots of bubbles (and by lots, I really do mean lots). It also turns the water a light blue colour, and literally feels like you’re relaxing in a light blue sky filled with fluffy white clouds. This produced enough bubbles to last through my entire bath, and you could definitely get away with breaking this in half and using it in 2 baths.

The Lush Christmas Penguin is a sweet, fruity and floral smelling bubble bar. It contains lemon oil, mandarin oil and orange flower absolute to create one of the most comforting, clean scents from Lush. The bubble bar is nicely scented, without being overpowering – it’s just perfect, and fast becoming one of my favourite scents from Lush. Best of all, the scent really lingers on your skin and I could still smell it on my skin the next morning!

Lush Twilight

The Lush Twilight Bath Bomb is one product from Lush which I’d wanted to try for well over a year. Despite it being raved about so much online – by fellow lavender-lovers like myself – I only got to try it out for the first time last month.

The Twilight Bath Bomb contains calming Lavender Oil and smells predominantly of lavender – which you will either love or hate.  I adore the smell of lavender and find it to be super relaxing, especially before getting into bed.  The bath bomb also contains sweetly scented Tonka Absolute, Benzoin Resinoid, and Ylang Ylang Oil.  According to Lush, this combination of essential oils is perfect for helping you to get ready for a perfect night’s sleep.

The Twilight Bath Bomb is pink with stars and the moon on the outside.  However, once this is dropped into the bath, the water goes from pink, to light blue, to a gorgeous shimmery deep purple colour.

Overall, I found this to be one of Lush’s most relaxing bath bombs, and is absolutely perfect for an evening bath!  I will definitely be repurchasing this.

Have you tried Twilight?

Lush Golden Wonder

As I’ve mentioned time and time again, I absolutely love Lush at this time of year.  Their Christmas range this year definitely did not disappoint me, and I know I’ll be stocking up on some of their products before the Christmas season ends and they’re taken back off the shelves.

This week I decided to use one an old favourite, the Lush Golden Wonder bath bomb.  Read on to find out more.

The Lush Golden Wonder is one of Lush’s biggest and most eye-catching bath bombs.  Shaped like a present with a glittery gold exterior, this is definitely not one that you will miss on a trip to Lush!  This bath bomb promises to brighten your mood and get you feeling party-ready.  It contains an uplifting mixture of citrus oils, including lime oil and sweet orange oil as well as cognac oil. Admittedly, the scent is not one you would necessarily associate with Christmas as it is quite citrus-y and fresh.  However, it’s absolutely perfect when you’re in need of a little pick-me-up!

Lush Golden Wonder

Once the Lush Golden Wonder bath bomb is dropped into the bath, it fizzes away to reveal a turquoise centre filled with tiny golden stars and gold lustre.  This transforms the water into what I like to call ‘mermaid water’ – a blue/green colour with golden lustre floating through.  It looks magical!  I find bath bombs which turn the water a blue shade to be the most calming, and this certainly works a treat after a hard day at work!

If you want to get your hands on the Lush Golden Wonder bath bomb be sure to pop into Lush before Christmas, as they’re only available for a limited time.  This is available for £3.95 from all Lush stores or online.

What’s your favourite product from the Lush Winter range?

Lush Rose Jam Bubbleroon

As I mentioned in my Lush haul last week, the Rose Jam bubbleroon is one of my favourite products from the permanent collection at Lush.  However, Lush recently reformulated their bubbleroons, and I was eager to put this one to the test and see if I still love it as much I did before!

As you would expect, the Rose Jam bubbleroon contains rose oil.  It also contains geranium oil and lemon oil, which you can definitely smell.  If you’re a fan of sweet, floral and uplifting scents, you will love this one!  Even if you don’t normally enjoy rose scents, it’s still worth giving this one a sniff when you’re in Lush.  As you can probably tell, this is one of my all-time favourite scents from Lush!

The Rose Jam bubbleroon also contains organic cocoa butter, which is great for softening and conditioning the skin.  This makes this bubbleroon absolutely perfect if you suffer from dry skin during the winter months, or if you’re looking to give your skin some extra conditioning.

Lush Rose Jam Bubbleroon

The Rose Jam bubbleroon is essentially part of Lush’s bubble bar selection.  This means that rather than dropping it into the bath and watching it fizz away, you crumble it under running water.  This turns the bath water a cute pink colour and fills the bath with lots of bubbles!  In my opinion, bubble bars are some of the better-value bath products available at Lush as you can get more than one use out of each one.  In fact, crumbing just half of the bubbleroon under running water filled my bath with so many bubbles and was more than enough for one bath!

The scent given off by the Rose Jam bubbleroon was just as amazing when it was in the water.  It’s strong but not too overpowering, and the scent lingered on my skin for a good 7-8 hours after getting out of the bath – pretty impressive!  It also filled the house with its amazing scent and left my skin feeling super soft for a good few days!

The Rose Jam bubbleroon is available for £3.75 and I would highly recommend picking this up on your next trip to Lush.  Lastly, I’m so pleased to confirm that I absolutely love the new Rose Jam bubbleroon formula!  Hooray!

Lush Frozen Bath Bomb

As I mentioned in my Lush haul yesterday, I love visiting Lush at this time of year.  I recently popped in and bought a few products from their new Christmas range, as well as some items from their new range of products.  One product that I could not wait to try out was the Frozen bath bomb, as not only had I heard great things about it from other bloggers, but it also smelt absolutely amazing!

The Lush Frozen bath bomb is a recent addition to the bath bomb range at Lush, and was only introduced earlier this year.  Based on the hit Disney film ‘Frozen’, this bath bomb has been so popular among bloggers and Youtubers, so I couldn’t wait to try it out and see whether it lived up to the hype.

Frozen contains grapefruit oil, rose oil from Turkey and neroli oil from Tunisia.  Together, these create an amazingly uplifting scent, which is both floral and sweet.  I find sweet, floral scents the most relaxing type of scents so this went straight into my basket after giving it a quick sniff in store.

Lush Frozen Bath Bomb

Once dropped into the bath, this fizzed away, turning the bath water an amazing bright blue shade, complete with silver lustre all the way through.  It looked magical!  Once it fizzed away, this also gave off an amazing scent which was quite strong, but not overpowering.  I absolutely loved it!

I will most definitely be repurchasing this bath bomb and would highly recommend trying out this bath bomb if you haven’t already!  This is available for £3.95 in all Lush stores or online.

Lush Christmas

Ever since the weather has got colder I have been LOVING taking baths!  Since I last went to Lush back in October I pretty much ran out of everything so I decided to pop in for some more Christmassy goodies!

Shoot For The Stars

I’ve had my eye on this bath bomb since last Christmas yet never got around to trying it out.  However, as soon as I gave this a sniff in Lush it went straight into my basket!  This bath bomb shares the same scent as the popular ‘Honey I Washed The Kids’ soap, which is one of my *favourite* Lush scents!  When dropped into the bath, Shoot For The Stars turns the water a deep dark blue/purple colour with silver lustre and I can’t wait to use this!

Lush Christmas

Luxury Lush Pud

This is probably one of the prettiest looking bath bombs in Lush at the moment, with its vibrant pink, orange, green, yellow, blue and white!  Its key ingredients are calming lavender, tonka absolute and ylang ylang oil, making this the perfect bath bomb to use when in need of some serious relaxation.  To me, it smells just like lavender – which is great for helping you unwind and get to sleep at night.  Besides this, the Luxury Lush Pud turns your bath a vibrant pink with a swirl of different colours!

Lush Christmas

Golden Wonder

Golden Wonder is my favourite bath bomb from Lush that I have tried so far (I mentioned it in my previous Lush haul) and I will definitely be repurchasing this one.  It’s everything you would ever want in a bath bomb – it’s gold, sparkly, smells gorgeous and makes your bath water looking amazing!  It contains lime and orange oil, which are very uplifting scents, and it turns your bath a lovely turquoise colour with golden lustre and little golden stars.  I would definitely recommend trying this one out if you haven’t already.

Lush Christmas

So White

Although So White may look boring in comparison to lots of the other bath bombs on offer in Lush, one sniff of this and I was sold!  So White smells just like fresh apple juice – but better!  I didn’t even know I was a fan of apple scents until I gave this a sniff!  So White is plain white on the outside and pink on the inside, turning your bath water a rosy colour (which is different to the So White bath bombs in previous years which was completely white).  I can’t wait to try this out as it’s the most strongly scented bath bomb of all the ones I bought, and it smells yummy!

Lush Christmas

Rose Jam Bubbleroon

Rose Jam is another one of my favourite scents from Lush, and I *love* bubble bars – so I could not leave the Rose Jam Bubbleroon behind.  Rose Jam contains rose, lemon and geranium – which together create an incredibly refreshing floral scent.  The bubbleroon also contains skin softening ingredients such as coconut oil and shea butter.  I can’t wait to try this one out!

Lush Christmas

Yog Nog

I normally walk straight past the soaps in Lush (I’m not sure why though as they all look amazing!).  Yog Nog in particular caught my eye as it literally looks like something you could eat, and smells like it too!  It contains moisturising soya yoghurt, clove bud and ylang ylang oils as well as nutmeg and cocoa powder – yum!  It feels so creamy and almost melts in your hands.  Perfect if you suffer from dry hands, like I do during the colder months!

What’s your favourite Lush product this Christmas?

Following from last week’s post titled “Gift Ideas She’ll Love” for under £15 (which you can read here), this week I’ll be sharing my luxury beauty gift ideas with you!

1. Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick in ‘Rouge Heroine’

Nothing screams ‘luxury’ more than a classic Yves Saint Laurent lipstick – and what better shade to pick for Christmas than a true red!  The Rouge Pur Couture lipsticks are very pigmented, leaving lips saturated with intense colour, while also providing moisture.  Available from John Lewis

2. Laura Mercier Golden Honey Musk Body & Bath Duet Gift Set

This luxury body & bath gift set from Laura Mercier would be the perfect present for anyone who loves some indulgent pampering!  The gift set contains a Honey Musk souffle body creme, a Honey Musk bath (which looks gorgeous and gold!) as well as a cute honey dipper which can be used to twirl the Honey Musk bath under running water.  Available from John Lewis.

3. Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir Cologne Collection

This gift set from Jo Malone includes a cologne, body & hand wash as well as a body creme in the Pomegranate Noir scent presented in a beautiful gift box.  The fruity ‘Pomegranate Noir’ scent contains pomegranate, raspberry, plum, pink pepper, lily and spicy woods – perfect for the winter.  Available from John Lewis.

4. GHD V Rose Gold Styler Gift Set

The luxury GHD hair styler has been around for a good few years now, however this rose gold edition has only just made an appearance – and is possibly the most beautiful hair styler GHD have launched yet.  As well as being packaged in a really nice rose gold and black box, this gift set contains the GHD hair styler, a protective plate guard, sectioning clips and a heat resistant roll bag.  Available from John Lewis.

5. Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy Noir Eau de Parfum

I have mentioned this eau de parfum in some of my previous posts (including my recent November Favourites).  This is my all-time favourite winter scent – it is quite fruity as it consists of berry and mandarin notes.  However, the caramel, amber and sandalwood notes balance this out to result in the perfect winter scent.  Available from Debenhams.

What luxury gifts have you got your eye on this Christmas?

As the weather has started to cool down, there have been so many blog posts and YouTube videos featuring Lush products, which got me very excited!  So I recently popped into Lush myself and picked up a few products myself!

First up, I got Brightside, a bright orange and yellow bubble bar which smells very citrusy, just like sweet oranges/ tangerines!  It contains tangerine oil, bergamot oil and gardenia extract, and when crumbled under a running bath it promises to give you lots of bubbles and turns the water orange.  I previously tried (and loved) The Comforter bubble bar, which smells like sweet blackcurrents, and am so excited to try this one out!

The Sparkler bath bomb is actually not one I was planning on purchasing, but I gave it a sniff as I was walking out of Lush and decided I could not leave it behind!  It smells AMAZING!  The sales assistant told me that it shares the same scent as Rose Jam shower gel (which I may now have to go back and buy).  The Sparkler contains rose oil, Sicilian lemon oil, geranium oil and a little popping candy, and I believe there is a little surprise inside (Some gold glitter perhaps?).  This is a limited edition bath bomb for the Halloween/ Bonfire Night/ Christmas season and so I will definitely be stocking up and the smell is just amazing!

Next up is the Golden Wonder bath bomb!  This bath bomb caught my eye when the Christmas stuff came out last year and I really regretted not purchasing it – however, I made sure to pick it up this year!  Golden Wonder is a glittery gold and rather huge present-shaped bath bomb which smells nice and citrusy.  It contains lime oil, orange oil and cognac oil which are all very uplifting and refreshing scents.  Once popped into the bath, Golden Wonder turns the water a gorgeous turquoise colour with gold glitter and little golden stars.  I’m saving this one for an extra special pamper night!

Although I love having baths every so often, I am normally more of a shower person, so I decided that I wanted to try out one of Lush’s shower jellies!  The shower jelly I went for, Whoosh, has got a very uplifting, refreshing and ‘awakening’ smell, making it especially ideal for morning showers, or when in need of a much needed energy boost.  Whoosh contains fresh grapefruit juice, honey water and organic lime juice (Can you tell I love citrus scents!?).  The sales assistant recommended popping this in the fridge/ freezer for an extra refreshing shower, which I will definitely be trying out on warmer days!

What’s your current favourite Lush product?  Please leave some suggestions for what Lush products I should try out next!

Primark Haul

Primark Haul

Lately I have been on a few shopping trips, including ones to Primark and H&M…  And this is what I brought back home with me – enjoy!

1. Bright geometric pattern vest top

I fell in love with this top as soon as I spotted it!  It’s made out of a very thin material which is great for hot days, and looks great with denim shorts and a tan (if only I had a tan!!)

2. Pink/nude sequined jumper

I thought this jumper looked so cute when I saw it!  It’s actually a bit more pink and a bit less nude than the photos show.  I think this would look great layered up as the weather cools down.

 3. Pink brogue-detailed satchel

If you have been following my Friday Faves posts, you might have spotted this exact bag in brown recently.  In fact, I love that bag so much I decided to pick one up in pastel pink too!  Admittedly, this is more of a spring/summer colour and not a very autumnal colour!!

Primark Haul

4. Brown brogue-detailed purse

I have needed a new purse for a while and although I normally go for smaller purses I could not resists getting this as it matches the brown bag I mentioned in my Friday Faves post, as well as the bag mentioned above!

Primark Haul

5. Primark printed/ patterned canvas shoes

I have been lovng wearing canvas shoes throughout the summer and I’m sure I will carry this trend through the autumn (on non-rainy days of course!).  You may already have spotted the white pair in my Spring Primark Haul, however my old pair got quite dirty and I loved them so much that I could not resist getting a new pair at just £4! The floral pair cost just £3 and looked so cute!

6. Sugar Candy Hand Gel

I always pick up a couple of hand gels from Primark.  These are Primark exclusives made by antibacterial hand gel specialists Cuticura.  The packaging of this hand gel is so cute and as an extra bonus, once the hand gel dries up on your hands it smells just like sweets!  There is also a Sherbet Lemon scented hand gel available at Primark.

7. Hask hair masks, floral hair accessories & travel size shower/bath gel

I love the Hask hair range available at Primark.  The hair masks I picked up are so moisturising – you simply leave them on your hair for ten minutes after shampooing, rinse out and you are left with super soft hair!  Although I find the Argan Oil one to be more moisturising, the Macadamia Oil hair mask smells exactly like white chocolate, which I love!!  I also picked up a few floral hair accessories.  These are so easy to use and look so pretty around a messy bun or ponytail!  Finally, I bough a couple of travel size shower/bath gel.  These are perfect for travelling as they are 100ml (which means you can take them on board a plane), they smell yummy (I chose candy floss and vanilla toffee fudge, but they had lots of other scents available) and you can use both if you fancy having a shower or a bath – perfect!

Primark Haul

1. Pink and white floral peplum top

This is probably one of my favourite purchases in the past few months – and the first peplum top I have owned!  I love the pattern – I think it looks so pretty!  Thanks to it being made out of a strechy cotton material it is very comfortable and can be dressed up or dressed down depending on where you’re going.  It’s shape is very flattering too – so it’s pretty much perfect!

2. Pink spaghetti strap top

I also fell in love with this top as soon as I laid my eyes on it!  It is one of my favourite shades of pink and looks great teamed with some skinny jeans!

I love the slouchy-ness of this top!  It is so comfy and the material is so soft (much more than you would expect just by looking at it!)

Lush Christmas

I can’t believe that this is already my first post for December – this year just flew by, and it’s time to get ready for Christmas, start enjoying warm cups of tea in bed with a scented candle close by, and most importantly it’s time to start enjoying relaxing warm baths again – hooray!

There’s been so many Lush hauls going around on YouTube and various blogs, and I could not wait to go there myself and get me some lovely goodies (although I was on a slightly tight budget!).

So, here is my (mini) Lush haul!

I love how Christmassy Lush gets around this time of year – I even get excited by their bags!

Lush Haul

Lush Haul

First of all, I decided to purchase one of Lush’s very much talked about Lip Scrubs!  I had heard lots of mixed opinions about the scrubs – some people absolutely love them but others recommend making them yourself.  I must say, at first I was very tempted to try and make one myself – but then I realised that I would most probably never actually get around to doing it, so I went ahead and bought one.  The lip scrubs cost £5.50 and are currently available in four different flavours: Popcorn, Mint Julips, Cola, and Bubblegum, which is the one I went for!  I have used it a few times now and so far have been loving it!  It smells and tastes very sweet, and after you’re done you can either wipe the sugar off or lick it off.  More importantly, it leaves my skin feeling nice and soft, especially after applying a lip balm afterwards.

Lush Haul

I decided to only purchase two bath bombs this time around, the first being Butterball.  At £2.50, Butterball is one of Lush’s lower-priced bath bombs.  I’ve never used this one before, but it smells absolutely delicious – just like vanilla.  It is also packed with cocoa butter goodness, so I’m pretty hopeful that this one will leave my skin feeling uber-soft!

Lush Haul

The second bath bomb I purchased was Space Girl.  This is also one of Lush’s lower-priced bath bombs and costs £2.25 – hoorah!  I did pick up a really glittery one too!  If I had to describe the way Space Girl smells to me I would say it smells like Parma Violets, but sweeter and more fruity.  I absolutely love this smell of this, and cannot wait to pop it into a nice hot bath!

That is all I got on my mini Lush haul.

What are your favourite products from Lush?  Have you tried any of the products I purchased?
