11 Things You’ll Only Understand If You Get HANGRY

[pipdig_padded_text]

If you had a peek inside my bag at any time, you are 100% guaranteed to find some food lurking in there. To me – and those around me – there’s nothing worse than being out and about when suddenly, HANGER STRIKES and there’s no food in sight! Ask anyone who knows me, and they will agree that this is a seriously dangerous affair.

When Ben and I were on our first holiday together, he didn’t quite know how important it is that I am kept well-fed at all times. Then one morning, when he kept brushing off my urgent appeals for breakfast, I pretty much WENT BERSERK (sorry Ben!!)- and well, let’s just say that was the last time he ignored my suggestions to go get some food, haha!

So if you’re also prone to the occasional food-related angry outburst, you might be able to relate to some of the things below![/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

  1. Getting irritable with your family/friends for no apparent reason, then one of them suggests that perhaps it might be a good idea to go get you some food.
  2. When your friends can’t agree on a restaurant, yet the only thing you care about is getting some form of edible item down your mouth.
  3. Having a meltdown when the restaurant takes forever to serve your food.
  4. Trying – and failing – to socialise whilst you wait for your food to arrive at a restaurant.
  5. Apologising to your friends after a meal – for the person you were, and the things you said before your meal.
  6. Packing an entire picnic in your handbag for a one hour trip somewhere – and an entire year’s worth of food when boarding a short-haul flight.
  7. The absolute horror when you realise you’d eaten the last snack in your bag yesterday and you’ve got NO ACCESS TO FOOD for at least the next 30 minutes.
  8. The torture of an extremely slow moving queue at your local cafe.
  9. Not being able to understand the person who ‘skipped lunch but will make up for it with a really big dinner tonight’ – How is it possible to operate on that many hours of NO FOOD?
  10. Having to stop yourself from acting like a 2 year old when you’ve reached ULTIMATE HUNGER LIMITS
  11. The joy of meeting a fellow hangry friend, who understands EXACTLY where you’re coming from!

The Beauty Brand For A Great Night’s Sleep | Feather & Down

[pipdig_padded_text]

Beauty products and sleep are two of my favourite things in life. So when a brand combines beauty and sleep in one amazing range of products, I can’t help but fall in love with it!

Feather & Down is a brand that is dedicated to promoting a good night’s sleep through its products. Their range of products not only look great, but they are also packed with sleep-promoting ingredients and will leave you smelling amazing, ready for a great night’s rest. The range includes a pillow spray, bath and body products, home fragrance, and they’ve also got a selection of gift sets that would be perfect for anyone in your life who deserves to enjoy a little more beauty sleep.

In this post, I will be sharing some of my favourite Feather & Down products.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Feather & Down Melting Shower Cream

Ahhhhhh, doesn’t the name sound so dreamy!? I normally have my showers in the evenings, before going to sleep so this product is absolutely perfect for me. This nourishing shower cream melts into an oil when massaged into the skin and just like the rest of the products in the range, it contains chamomile and lavender essential oils and leaves you smelling loooooooovely.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Feather & Down Soothing Body Oil

The warm summer weather has left my skin feeling a little dry lately – the fact that I haven’t been great at moisturising my skin post-shower might also have something to do with it. The Feather & Down Soothing Body Oil comes in a spray bottle, and although I’m not normally a fan of oily products in summer, this one is an exception as it feels so lightweight on the skin and is easily absorbed. A few spritzes of this over my arms and legs before getting into bed leaves my skin feeling soft and smelling great.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Feather & Down Pillow Spray

Pillow sprays have slowly become an important part of my bedtime routine, and I very rarely go to bed without spraying some pillow spray across my bed. I find pillow sprays so relaxing, and this particular one by Feather & Down is great if you’re looking for a new one. With a combination of lavender and chamomile essential oils, this smells soothing without being overpowering and at £7 for a 100ml bottle, it’s really good value for money too![/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Feather & Down All Purpose Sleep Balm

As much as I would love to carry my entire collection of sleepy beauty products with me whenever I travel, I’m normally limited by space or weight. And that’s when the Feather & Down All Purpose Sleep Balm comes in handy! The balm shares the same soothing scent as the rest of the range, and can be applied to your pulse points to help you relax when you’re sleeping away from home. Because it’s so compact, it’s also a great one to carry with you when you’re flying (for any fellow anxious-flyers out there!) or when you need a bit of on-the-go relaxation. It’s what I like to call my ‘calm balm’![/pipdig_padded_text]

A Little Life Update | Quiet On The Blog

[pipdig_padded_text]

You may have noticed things have been a little quiet over on my blog and social channels over the past couple of months. So I thought we could have a good old catch up in today’s post, to find out what has been going on!

1. I helped organise a conference

After months and months (and months) of preparation, I helped organise a conference at work last week. Thinking back over the last few months, organising this conference has taken up a big chunk of my energy and is one of the main reasons why things have been a bit quiet over on my blog. Any event organisers out there, HOW DO YOU DO IT FOR A LIVING!? After spending most of my working day sending multiple emails/making too many phone calls/doing other random bits related to organising this conference, I simply did not have enough energy left to sit down on my laptop and write, and instead I preferred to spend some tech-free time unwinding, such as by writing letters to some of my pen friends!

2. Too darn HOT to function

It’s no secret that I prefer winter to summer (here are 10 reasons why!). One of the things I really dislike about the hot summer weather is how it seems to drain me of all my energy, and consequently I am left feeling tired and unmotivated a lot of the time. Added to that, I don’t really enjoy applying/wearing makeup as much when it seems to melt off my face within 30 minutes and summer clothes are not really my thaaaaang, therefore I’ve been left feeling like I didn’t really have much to write about either! Sometimes, a bit of time off the blog is what I need to get my motivation back on the blog!

3. Glued to the TV

Whether it’s the World Cup or Love Island, I have been pretty much glued to the TV over the past month. In fact, some of the only times I was active on Twitter were during the England football games (I really DO get into those games!) and I can only apologise for this if you’re not into football! And although I missed quite a few episodes of Love Island due to the World Cup, I’ve been busy catching up on it all over the last few days! (Jack and Dani are still my faves!)

4. Celebrating 5 years with the boyf

A couple of weeks ago I celebrated 5 years of being with le boyfriend and although we didn’t get to spend the day together, I did receive a surprise bouquet of flowers which made me smile from ear to ear! 😀

That’s us all caught up! Here’s to many more posts, and less ‘quiet time’ over on the blog!

How To Dress POSITIVELY!

[pipdig_padded_text]

Wearing certain clothes CAN improve your mood. From injecting a splash of colour into your wardrobe to wearing t-shirts with positive slogans to make you and people around you smile – positive dressing is all around us. But, does it really work?

Find out more with QUIZ, retailers of occasion dresses:

The influence of colour

The power of colour psychology shouldn’t be underestimated. Studies have shown that different coloured  clothing can have different effects on individuals. In one study, students were presented with a coloured participant number that was either red, green or black. Results showed that students who were given a red number scored a significant 20% lower than those who presented with a green or black number.

And, when it comes to clothing, people can view the wearer in different ways, depending on what colour they’ve got on:

  • Red — Demonstrates power and a strong social status, as well as gives the wearer more confidence. It can indicate good health and financial stability, too.
  • White — Perceived to be the least arrogant colour and gives the impression that the wearer is optimistic.
  • Black — Gives the impression of self-assurance and intelligence.

What about in sports performance? Researchers have discovered that red can lead people to act with greater speed and force (Didn’t England do better at the World Cup when they wore red!?). Studies also showed that sports teams dressed in mostly black kits were more likely to receive penalties.

Evidently, colour can affect our psyche and tweak our moods and actions both positively and negatively.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

What makes YOU happy?

It’s likely that it’s all down to what you personally associate with happiness.

Take colour connotations and cultural differences, for example. Like the colour red? In China, this hue is a symbolism of good luck, yet in Africa it’s associated with death. Interestingly, in the African nation of Nigeria, it has connections with aggression and vitality.

If you associate the colour yellow with being positive and happy, it’s likely that being around this colour will make you feel this way. This idea is supported by one experiment involving a coat. Here, participants were all handed the same white coat — the only difference was that some were told it was a painter’s coat, and others were told it was a doctor’s. When asked to complete tasks, results revealed that those who were told it was a doctor’s coat performed better. It’s likely that the connotations that they associated with a professional uniform were more positive and motivational than those associated with the painter’s coat.

Consider power dressing, too. Some women feel more confident in trouser suits or skirt and jacket combos when surrounded by men who are donning a similar outfit in the form of a three-piece suit.

Take time to determine which clothes are confidence and happiness boosters for you, then it’s likely that dressing in these garments will make you feel that way.

Dressing for your shape

Complementing your shape when dressing is another way to boost your mood with clothes, as what you’re wearing will not only highlight your best features, but also make you feel comfortable.

The things that you wear do influence the way that you feel. Putting colours and shapes aside, the most important thing is that you’re comfortable in the clothes that you wear. This will ensure your confidence shines through — a guaranteed mood booster![/pipdig_padded_text]

3 Benefit Bits I’m Loving | Summer Beauty

[pipdig_padded_text]

It’s no surprise that Benefit is by far one of my favourite beauty brands. Not only do I absolutely love their in-store brow services (read up about my experience of the Benefit Brow Bar here) – but I’m a big fan of many of their products too!

Today I’ll be sharing 3 products that I have been absolutely loving this summer – ones that last long and help you look flawless through the heat.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Benefit Boi-ing Airbrush Concealer

Having a long-lasting makeup base in summer is a pretty challenging. However, using the right products can make a huge difference. Throughout the autumn and winter months, I normally use cream concealers. However, the Benefit Boi-ing Airbrush Concealer is pretty much MADE for the warm, summer months. The concealer comes in a compact tub that is perfect for on-the-go touch ups, and more importantly, IT’S WATERPROOF! This offers a medium-sheer coverage, feels lightweight on the skin and is great for concealing dark under-eye circles or blemishes. Pop on some powder over the top and the coverage will last for hours! This is available in 6 different shades.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Benefit They’re Real Tinted Primer

Whether you’re into big, dramatic lashes or more natural looking ones, the Benefit They’re Real Tinted Primer is a must-have for the summer. I love big, dramatic lashes all year round and would highly recommend the Benefit BADgal BANG! and the Benefit They’re Real Mascara if you’re into false-looking lashes too. If you prefer natural lashes (with a bit of a boost!) the Benefit They’re Real Tinted Primer can be worn on its own to add a brown tint and define the lashes. However, when worn underneath a mascara, this further enhances the lashes by increasing the length and volume without clumping up the lashes. Lash primer is one of those products you don’t realise that you need in your makeup routine, until you’ve tried it![/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil

I’ve spoken about my love for Benefit brow products countless times on my blog and the product I’m reach for the most at the moment has to be the Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil. The brow pencil glides on the brows easily, so filling in your brows with this is super quick. It also has a waterproof formula, which is essential for summer and it comes with a built-in spoolie brush, which you can use to soften your brows once you are done filling them in. This comes in 8 different shades, so you’re bound to find one that’s perfect for you![/pipdig_padded_text]

The PRETTIEST Jewellery from Sacet

[pipdig_padded_text]

I’m definitely more of a dainty-jewellery type of girl, and I believe that delicate pieces can really add a special touch to an outfit. There’s no denying that wearing your favourite piece of jewellery can make you feel more confident and make a special occasion feel even more special.

Sacet is a jewellery brand that I discovered earlier on this year, and from the first time I visited the website, I knew I had stumbled upon something special.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Sacet is a luxurious jewellery brand which has an ethical and conscious craftsmanship at its heart. The company believes in moving the jewellery industry towards a more sustainable approach, and although the collections available on the website and incredibly gorgeous and of exceptional quality, they are fairly priced.

I chose the ‘Lujia Perched Butterfly Necklace’ which I thought looked lovely on the website – and I was pleased to discover that it looked even more beautiful in real life! The unique 3D effect of the perched butterfly makes this necklace unlike any other necklace I own.

The necklace is available in silver, gold or rose gold (which is the one I went for) and comes in three different lengths – 16 inch (pictured here), 18 inch and 20 inch. The necklace has been delicately handcrafted and this definitely shows in the quality – it is just beautiful, and perfect to wear both on special occasions and regularly!

Something I particularly love about the Sacet website is that it gives you some personal information on the designer of each piece. My necklace was designed by Meng, who was originally from Shanghai then moved to London to complete her MA in Jewellery Design at Central St Martins, University of the Arts London. There’s something about knowing more about the designer of my necklace that helps me connect with the piece in a way. It’s a lovely touch from Sacet.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Sacet offer free shipping and a 30-day no questions asked returns policy, as well as a 2 year warranty on every product. Visit the Sacet website here.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Creating Your Own Unique Greeting Cards | Stampin’ Up Lots of Happy Card Kit Review

[pipdig_padded_text]

I’m a huge fan of popping things in the post, the good old fashioned way. There’s no denying that there’s something special about receiving a birthday card in your letterbox – and if you love crafting, like I do, then why not go one step further and create some lovely greeting cards yourself!?

Stampin’ Up have a fantastic range of card kits, which I’ve previously written about (here and here) and I recently got my hands on the ‘Lots of Happy Card Kit’ which I couldn’t wait to share on my blog.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

Just like the other card kits I own from Stampin’ Up, the ‘Lots of Happy Card Kit’ contains everything you need to create beautiful and professional-looking cards. Even though I love crafting, I’d still consider myself a complete beginner but I’m so proud of the way that the cards I created using this kit turned out – you can see these pictured throughout this blog post.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

This kit in particular has enough supplies to make 20 cards – and best of all, the supplies look and feel like very good quality. The kit contains 20 cards with coordinating envelopes in different sizes, 7 stamps, a stamp block and black ink stamp, as well as decorative die-cuts, white and gold foil labels, 4 amazing-quality watercolour pencils and a yellow/lime ombre ribbon, perfect for giving your cards a unique edge.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

The kit is very easy to use and can be adapted to several different occasions from birthdays to cards that say thanks for being a good friend. It comes with a leaflet filled with card-inspiration, however the best bit about the kit is that you can mix and match all the supplies to create truly unique masterpieces.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_padded_text]

The Stampin’ Up ‘Lots of Happy Card Kit’ is available online from the Stampin’ Up UK website – and whilst you’re there I’d also recommend checking out all the other beautiful Stampin’ Up card kits.[/pipdig_padded_text]

3 Benefits of Cosmetic Surgery | Guest Post

[pipdig_padded_text]

There is no shortage of pseudo-experts everywhere trying to tell people why going for any cosmetic surgery is a bad idea, but you should not pay heed to such generic and ignorant point of views. The truth is that you should definitely go for a cosmetic procedure if you want to, but only after you understand all the associated risks with the desired procedure thoroughly.

As an individual and an adult, you have the right to choose what you think is right for yourself and just in case you are considering a facelift, a labia reduction, or even just a rhinoplasty, here are three good reasons as to why you should do it.

Confidence

If there was just one attribute that every successful man and woman in the history of mankind ever shared, then that would be confidence. Sometimes, a properly performed cosmetic surgery can help you feel more confident than ever before in your life and that’s a fact. In spite of political correctness trying to force us into believing that looks don’t matter, the truth is that they do matter! This is not to say that someone should be judged on the basis of how they look, but out in the real world, that does happen a lot. Even we judge ourselves for the way we look, be it consciously or subconsciously. Therefore, if there’s any part of your body that you could change to feel better and more confident about yourself, there is absolutely no reason as to why you should not do it.

Rolling Back the Years

In general, people don’t age similarly and sometimes, we age prematurely on the outside because of
various reasons such as childbirth, harsh weather conditions, excess sun exposure, etc. While that
external change should not impact our spirits in the ideal world, it does in the real world and we often
start to act older than we actually are, purely on account of our external appearance. Therefore,
whether you are trying to look livelier at 50, or just want to look your age at 30, you can effectively roll
back the years (and the premature aging) with cosmetic surgery.

It May Help You with Your Work

Even at the office, people with better looks receive special treatment at times, but that’s just unfair to say the least and it is not what we are talking about here. If you are into modelling, acting, performance arts or any other career where your physical appearance plays a big role, getting cosmetic surgery can do wonders for your career. Just take the example of celebs like Madonna or Scarlett Johansson to understand the point here.

Once you have made up your mind, the next step is to find a reputed and reliable clinic that performs the procedure you need. However, this is the most critical decision of them all because finding a reputed and trusted surgeon to perform the necessary procedures is absolutely vital here. Dr Amir Nakhdjevani at Bella Vou is the number one cosmetic surgeon in the whole of the United Kingdom and he is just one out of many other accomplished, famous consultants and surgeons there. Be it a facelift or a breast augmentation surgery, Bella Vou works on the principle of putting the patient first. What this means is that the physicians there will discuss all possible choices with you first, some of which may even include non-surgical procedures.

The best way to make a decision about any cosmetic procedure is to get everything explained to you by
the leading surgeons in the field.[/pipdig_padded_text]

How to Make the Most of a Small Kitchen

[pipdig_padded_text]

Despite it being one of the most frequented rooms in the house, the majority of us are not overly blessed in the kitchen space department. Luckily, there are several things we can do in order to make the most of a small kitchen. I spoke with Elan Kitchens, experts in modern kitchen design, to discover their top tips on how to maximise the space we do have.

Light colours

Lighter tones make the kitchen feel more airy and spacious because they reflect the light which enters, making the room appear somewhat larger than it is. As such, adopting a minimalist colour scheme within the kitchen will certainly help your space problem, even if it just means replacing your dark curtains with some white or cream coloured blinds. Also, try not to block windows with clutter, plants or appliances, in order to let in as much natural light as possible.

Maximise storage

You’ll be surprised by how much potential storage options your kitchen holds if you really go looking for them, and this is possibly the easiest way to maximise space within. If your kitchen cabinets do not reach the ceiling, the open space above is a great place to keep lesser-used items. Other space-saving storage methods include magnetic wall strips for metal kitchen utensils, the inside of cabinet doors and hanging pots and pans from low ceilings. Get creative!

Small appliances

One easy way to free up some kitchen space is to choose multi-functional appliances, for example washer-dryers and combined microwaves and ovens. Likewise, once the time comes to replace appliances, it’s worth thinking about getting smaller, more compact ones, leaving greater counter-top space available for cooking. I also recommend hiding the appliances you don’t use every day, such as blenders or toastie-makers, in the cupboard, away from plain view.

De-clutter

I can’t stress enough the importance of keeping your house as mess-free as possible, because nothing has the ability to make a room feel smaller than lots of junk! That being said, carrying out regular de-cluttering days is beneficial and helps you determine the things you actually need.

My advice is; if you haven’t used it in the last six months, get rid of it! There is probably someone out there who will make much better use of it.

Do you have any great space-saving tips?

How To Choose The Best Pillow For You

[pipdig_padded_text]

If you are looking to buy pillows that tick both the luxury and comfort boxes, then our luxury pillows range at Dusk allows you to do just that. From super king pillows and ‘feels like down’ fill to soft and plump goose down feather pillows, our range of pillows has all the variety you need to create and maintain a luxurious feel to your bedroom.

But how do you know which one is best for you? Below we have listed some of the most popular choices
of bedding pillow and the advantages of each. Take a look…

Duck down filled pillows

Duck down pillows at Dusk contain a combination of soft duck down and thick white feathers. Our duck
feather and down pillows are made with an outer layer of cotton percale which is cool and crisp to the touch and filled with duck feathers and light down to create the perfect combination of support and comfort. Duck feather pillows are a popular choice for those who like to sleep on their side as the density of the pillow allows for good alignment of the spine and neck during the night.

Goose down pillows

Goose down pillows are one of the favorite kinds of pillow thanks to the light and fluffy filling which contains 80% dense white down. The outer layer is made from cotton that is breathable, allowing for cool comfort while you sleep. Goose feather pillows are firmer than goose down as feathers are stronger and larger than down, meaning they provide sturdier support. For the ultimate balance between firmness and softness, the combination of goose feather and down pillows provides both cloud-like smoothness and strong neck and head support while you are sleeping.

Feels like down pillows

If you are looking for an alternative to natural fibres like feathers then our ‘Feels like down range’ is a great option. The pillows are light and breathable and are filled with synthetic 100% microfibre filling that feels like down yet still provides the comfort and support a luxury pillow should do. Ideal for those who may suffer from allergies, these pillows offer medium level firmness and have a peach skin covering, making them gentle next to the skin.

At Dusk, we believe that because we spend a lot of time asleep it is imperative that time is spent looking for the best pillow for your individual needs. Sleep is a crucial element of overall health and everyone sleeps differently, so taking some time to choose the right pillow will reap rewards for your comfort and well-being as a whole. Have a look at our range today.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Relationships: How to Get Through A Rough Patch | Guest Post

[pipdig_padded_text]

First of all, it is totally normal to go through a rough patch when you are in a relationship. When you spend all of your time with someone else, things that the other person does start to irritate you. It is important to stay positive and try to work through these patches though if you don’t want to let the relationship go. Keep reading to find out our tips on getting through a rough patch.

Talk To Each other

Passive aggressive behaviour and avoiding the problem has never helped anyone. One of the most important ways that you can help yourself get out of a rough relationship patch is to talk with your partner. If you sit down and have a chat, you might get a better understanding of how they are feeling and why they are feeling that way. Having a deep chat about it can drastically help where you stand and improve your relationship.

Talk to A Professional

If you’ve already tried talking to each other and it’s not worked -try talking to a professional. Therapy is a very effective way of improving relationships and putting all of the problems out in the open. You might find that your partner is more willing to explain how they feel in the company of a third person and so you’ll get to understand the problem better. The great thing is that you don’t necessarily need to go to couple’s therapy together, you could try an online relationship therapist like those available at AskaCoach.

Start Again

Sometimes deciding to start over can be a great way of getting through a rough patch. If you and your partner are able to agree on putting all of your differences aside then you could see a huge improvement in your relationship. It is important that you don’t ignore your problems but if you symbolically ‘start over’ you could really help yourself get out of a rough patch.

Stay Positive

When you are going through a rough patch with your partner, it is important that you are able to stay positive. Although this might be easier said than done, staying positive can really change how you see the situation and can drastically improve your relationship. If you have an argument with your partner, look at it as you are getting your feelings out. Make sure to talk through the argument afterwards in a positive way to establish what went wrong and how you can prevent it happening again in the future. Stay positive and encourage your partner to do the same.

Final Thoughts

No one wants to go through a rough patch with their partner and so it is important to stay positive and try to avoid this. If you are going through some hard times, then you need to make sure that you talk to your partner or talk with a professional. Don’t let a rough relationship get you down and know when to let it go if it gets too much.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Four Fun Ways to Customise Your Clothes at Home and Give Them a Boutique Feel | Guest Post

[pipdig_padded_text]

Do you love the look of boutique clothing and appreciate how unique the pieces are? Do you wish you could fill your wardrobe with these pieces giving you that truly personalised look that you are striving for but don’t exactly have the budget to update everything? Did you know that by making a few little customisations and changes to your existing clothes, you can actually create that boutique feel at home, and for much less?

Here are four fun ways you can amp up the luxe feel of your clothes and make them feel more unique.

Add Customised Hang Tags

One thing that designer pieces all have in common is that they have their own unique hang tag on them proudly displaying the designer’s name. Why not either remove or cover up the hang tags that exists on your rather non-descript brands and replace them with something unique? You can order creative clothing hang tags, such as these hang tags from Griffes Vivienne, that display your name, a brand name you want to “create”, a logo, or anything else that you think would give your clothing that luxurious boutique feel.

What’s really fun is that you can get creative in the shape, size, and look of your tag. It’s also a good idea if you just so happen to be an aspiring designer and are making pieces of your own from scratch.

Get Out the Scissors and Start Cutting

An easy and fast way to customise your clothing is to get out the sewing shears and start cutting up your items. You can take a look at today’s current fashion trends and see how you can create that same look at home. For example you can cut the top of the shoulder and sleeve of a t-shirt to create the “cold shoulder look”, or give a deep scoop to the neckline of a shirt to create something off-the shoulder.

Add Embellishments to Hems

If you don’t mind getting out a needle and thread, or better yet if you own a sewing machine, you can take your customisation to the next level. Adding embellishments to the hems of shirts, sleeves, trouser legs, and skirt/dress hems will instantly give them a more unique and high-fashion feel. You can add such things as lace, beading, sequins, a different texture or colour of material, etc. This is a chance for you to be creative.

Give Sleeves to Tank Tops

Do you happen to own a large amount of basic tank tops that don’t really scream unique or fashionable? Sure, they can make great layering pieces, but they aren’t exactly exciting. Why not customise them and add sleeves? This is a relatively easy job as well, and again you’ve got options when it comes to what kind of material you use. You can go for something elegant like lace, or something a bit more flirty like a chiffon for example.

When it comes to customising your clothing at home, it helps to take a look at pieces that speak to you in boutiques and then let that act as your inspiration that sparks your own creativity.[/pipdig_padded_text]
