Your Complete Guide To: Facial Cartilage Grafts | Guest Post

In the fascinating field of plastic surgery, doctors use a wide range of materials to carefully craft facial features for a patient. For many facial surgeries, a cartilage graft is necessary. Doctors have tried many different types of material for grafting, and they find that cartilage harvested from the patient’s own ribs can be one of the most effective options. Rib cartilage has many uses in facial plastic surgery.

Keep reading to learn all about the purposes and process of removing rib cartilage and grafting it onto the face.

When Are Facial Cartilage Grafts Necessary?

A facial graft is a plastic surgery technique that involves attaching matter to the bones or cartilage of the face. It is used whenever a person needs volume built in a certain area. Cartilage is a firm substance that is only slightly softer than bone, so it is only used in areas of the face that require a lot of support and structure. The most common use for a cartilage graft is along the nasal area. However, it may also be needed to reconstruct the ears or repair cleft lips and other malformations of the midface area.

Cartilage grafts are particularly common in revision rhinoplasties, where the doctor is adding back material to replace a nose that was overly contoured, but they can also be necessary in first time rhinoplasties. Cartilage grafts in the nose have a few different purposes. In some cases, a graft is structural. It provides support for the tip and bridge of the nose, so the patient can breathe more easily. A cartilage graft may also be used for aesthetic appearances. It can build up a nose bridge to make it look less flat or alter the shape of the bridge to keep it from drooping.

Why Use Rib Cartilage Grafts Instead of Other Material?

Of course it is possible to use synthetic materials for grafts and implants. However, these are normally associated with far worse outcomes. Roughly 5 percent of patients with synthetic implants end up with an infection or implant rejection. This leads to a lot of nasty inflammation that eventually turns into tough scar tissue that is even tougher to remove. Synthetics like Medpor, silicone, and Gore-Tex do not always hold up very well, and when they break down, the results can be quite unpleasant.

Donor cartilage from human cadavers is another possible alternative to rib cartilage harvesting in some situations, but like synthetics, there is a high risk of the cartilage breaking down or the body rejecting it. Due to all of these concerns, a lot of surgeons find it best to stick with cartilage grafts from the patient’s body. Though it does cause an inconvenient second surgical site, it is much easier for the body to integrate its own tissue into a stable structure on the face. Whenever possible a surgeon will use cartilage from the patient’s nose or ear for the surgery. However, if the patient does not have any cartilage to spare in these regions, they will take it from the ribs.

What Is the Process of Harvesting and Grafting Rib Cartilage Like?

Once you and your plastic surgeon decide that a rib cartilage graft is necessary, the surgery will be schedule for the same day as your rhinoplasty. Once you are under general anesthetic, they will make an incision of roughly four to six centimeters in length. The doctor will normally separate muscle fibers instead of cutting them to ensure a good recovery. Once they have reached the site of the cartilage, which is usually the eighth and ninth ribs, they will remove the cartilage, suture the area, replace the surrounding soft tissue, and suture the skin.

Once the cartilage is harvested, the surgeon will proceed to the surgery that involves placing the rib cartilage in its new position. To prevent the graft from slipping out of place, the surgeon will carefully suture it into place. They may then place fat or other tissue over the cartilage to ensure an even appearance once it is covered with skin. Healing with a cartilage graft is normally no different than a regular rhinoplasty recovery time. Over time, the cartilage implant will bond with the tissue underneath and become even more stable.

How Can You Tell If a Cartilage Graft is Right for You?

You may need a cartilage graft if your nose is scooped, humped, or drooping. The firmness of a cartilage graft can help to provide extra volume in nasal reconstruction cases and revision rhinoplasties. It can even be helpful if you are not trying to make your nose look larger because added height from a cartilage graft can create the illusion of a narrower nose. Cartilage grafts may also be necessary in many other types of facial reconstruction surgery. Rib cartilage will be used over other donor sites if you do not have the option of taking cartilage from your ear or nose. Each plastic surgery patient is different, so you will need to consult with a doctor to see if it would be a good option for your case.

The Perfect Year-Round Slippers | Just Sheepskin Ladies Tedworth Sheepskin Slippers Review

One of the first things I do whenever I get home from work is change into my comfies, and of course that also means taking off my daytime shoes and putting on my favourite pair of comfy slippers. I particularly love sheepskin slippers for lounging about at home as they feel incredibly soft.

However, that’s not all. Most people tend to associate sheepskin slippers with the colder winter months. But did you know that sheepskin is actually great all year round? Pure, natural sheepskin is made from breathable hollow fibres that helps to regulate the temperature of your feet whether it’s cold or warm outside.[/pipdig_padded_text]

I was recently browsing the Just Sheepskin website when the Ladies Tedworth Sheepskin Slippers instantly caught my eye. Unlike most sheepskin slippers, these come in a really cute ballet slipper design with a teddy bear design on the front and an adorable pom pom tail at the back of the slippers! I think this adds a really fun and original touch to the sheepskin slippers, which can normally tend to look quite plain and same-y.[/pipdig_padded_text]

[pipdig_banner image=””]

The slippers are lined with genuine sheepskin as well as a gel memory foam inside the sole, which feels really cosy and luxurious. Apart from that, they are also water resistant so you don’t need to worry about damaging them when you’re lounging around the house. I have owned other brands of sheepskin slippers in the past, and this pair from Just Sheepskin definitely feels a lot softer and more snuggly. In a nutshell, they are absolutely perfect!

Because it’s currently summer, I prefer to wear these with no socks – this also means I get to make the most out of the soft, snuggly sheepskin on the inside! However, they would also work really well with a pair of fluffy socks as the weather starts to get colder. I got these in my normal size 6, and they fit just as they should.[/pipdig_padded_text]

You can tell that a lot of care has gone into making each pair of slippers, and they feel like such a treat for your feet. These would make a great gift idea too.

Just Sheepskin also have a fantastic range of sheepskin boots, gloves and ear muffs which look perfect for the upcoming winter months![/pipdig_padded_text]

The Summer Jacket I’ve Been Obsessed With (& It’s Now On Sale!)

A light summer jacket is an essential in everyone’s wardrobe, and I was on the hunt for one that looks good and feels comfortable for absolutely ages. A quick browse on the Regatta Great Outdoors website answered all my light-summer-jacket-needs and the great news for you is that it’s now on sale too!

The jacket in question is the Women’s Calderdale II Breathable Shell Jacket in this cute white, grey and turquoise combination. I absolutely love the colour combination of this jacket as it looks so cute in the summer! The jacket is made from a waterproof, breathable and very comfortable fabric and has a hood which rolls down and packs away on rain-free days. I also love the fact that it’s got loads of pockets, so whether you’re going on a long walk and need somewhere to keep your map, or if you’re just popping out to the shops and need somewhere to keep your phone, keys and purse – this has got you covered. For size reference, the one I’m wearing in the photos is a size 10 and fits comfortably.[/pipdig_padded_text]

For this post, I chose to team the jacket with this really cute polo shirt (now also in the sale!). Apart from the turquoise shade looking great with the jacket, the polo shirt is made from a comfortable, soft fabric that has great moisture control, making it perfect for long walks or exercising. I also love the button detailing on the front and the Regatta Great Outdoors logo in white. I think the polo shirt and jacket together make a great outdoorsy outfit whilst still looking cute![/pipdig_padded_text]

Adding A Touch of Monochrome To Your Home | Guest Post

Adding a touch of black and white monochrome can create a fresh and new look in your home. Undoubtedly, monochrome is one of the most strong and elegant colour combinations as these 2 colours look good on their own, but together they create a truly stunning look.

Black and white designs, whether in an embellished chenille carpet or classic bath mat, can help make every room in your home look stylish and classy. For example, an elaborately decorated chenille rug in a square design can give your room more depth and interest.

A black and white carpet with a floral design can look striking in your living room. In fact, carpets with black and white colour mixtures in Victorian style floral motifs can give your room a very unique charm.

Here are some other reasons why black and white carpets are a great choice for your home:

A new-found beauty in your home

Carpets are an incredibly easy way of updating the look of your home, and a great way of personalising your space if you’re renting.  While you can only go so far with your home walls, there are no restrictions for when it comes to what carpet you choose, so you can go all out and express yourself! Essentially, carpets are a type of floor art that is functional, charming, and practical.

Improve versatility

Using carpets to decorate your home also improve the versatility of your home. They can be used in different ways, such as dividing off a room into different parts, combining elements of your decoration, or even introducing a theme into a room. Simply repositioning your carpets can give the whole room a new feel.

Add comfort

Undoubtedly, carpets also add comfort to your house. There’s no denying that a carpet feels much nicer than hardwood or a tiled floor. A carpet can add a certain cosines to a room, making it feel warmer and more homely.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Your Complete Guide To: Lower Face Rejuvenation | Guest Post

Lower face rejuvenation is becoming increasingly popular and can make you look much thinner in the face and neck region. There are surgical and non-surgical options available.

Your plastic surgeon will do an overall assessment so that your entire face is treated in proportion. The lower face includes the lower cheeks, around the mouth, jawline, and lips. Lower face rejuvenation is ideal for younger patients who don’t need a facelift.

Why A Neck Lift Should Be Next On Your List Of Surgical Procedures

As we age, our neck and chin area begins to accumulate fat deposits. This can create the look of a double chin. Fat deposits in these areas are extremely tough to eliminate on our own. A neck lift can contour your jaw, chin, and neck while removing these fat deposits to help your face appear thinner and healthier. Loose skin sometimes called the “turkey gobbler” effect, can have a negative impact on your overall face. A neck lift will improve the look of your face and neck making you appear much younger. Your face and neck are connected and can influence the way the other appears. If your neck is aging or looking heavy, your face most likely will too.

How A Neck Lift Works

A neck lift isn’t much didn’t from other lifting procedures. Your cosmetic surgeon will make a small incision behind your ears which will conceal any scarring. They will then use a liposuction device to remove fat deposits through the incisions. The soft tissue and muscles are tightened and repaired while trimming away excess skin. It can take up to two weeks to recovery following neck lift surgery and is dependent on the patient.

Chin And Jaw Surgery And Cheek Implants

Chin and jaw surgery or also known as mentoplasty, can reduce and augment the cheek and chin bone. Most of the time this is performed using cheek implants or fat transfer from other parts of the body. For cheek and chin reduction, your surgeon will file the bone down to reduce its size. This can give you a sleek and more chiseled look to your jawline. Cheek implants can balance and define your face, enhancing your existing cheek structure.

Non-Surgical Procedures

Non-surgical procedures can be performed using injections and dermal fillers to add more volume to some regions of the face. Non-surgical rejuvenation of the lower face area can be achieved with relaxing injections and filler substances. Filler substances come in different thicknesses. They can be used for very fine lines or injected more deeply to give more volume.

If you want to restore your youthful glow but are leery about going under the knife, you can combine several non-surgical procedures to achieve a subtle look even in your 60’s. Liquid lifts can be done on your lunch break and require little to no recovery time. Non-surgical lower facelifts can correct the jowls, lines in the nasolabial folds, frown lines, and deep grooves around your mouth. The purpose of defining the lower face is to tighten deeper tissue, replenish lost volume, or resurface the superficial skin.

Dermal Fillers

Botox is one of the most commonly used dermal fillers in the United States. It is used to effectively treat wrinkles, fine lines, crow’s feet, and forehead creases. Botox can also be injected into the neck for a firmer appearance. Like all dermal fillers, Botox is not permanent and requires ongoing treatments to maintain your desired result usually, every 6-12 months. Kybella is a dermal filler that contains a fat blasting medication to correct your jawline without surgery.

Fat transfer

A fat transfer procedure takes existing fat from other parts of your body and is reinjected into the face to address the loss of volume. Fat transfer can correct smile lines, laugh lines, acne scars, sunken cheeks, crow’s feet, and skin depressions. It is one of the most natural looking procedures that provides lifetime results.

How To Dress Smart in Summer & Damart Lace Jacket Review

For many years, I thought that dressing smart in summer was pretty much an impossible task. After all, the last thing you’d want to do during a summer heatwave is wear layers of clothes in the hope of looking well put together. However, along the years I learnt a few tips and tricks on how to dress smart in summer. Essentially, it’s all about investing in the right items for your summer wardrobe.

If you’ve got to wear a jacket, opt for lace.

I couldn’t think of anything worse than wearing a jacket in summer. However, certain occasions or events during the summer may require you to throw on something more than just a smart dress or ‘nice shirt and trousers’ combination. The trick here is to invest in a lace jacket. I’d been on the hunt for the perfect spring/summer jacket and found this beautiful pastel pink lace jacket from Damart. How gorgeous does it look!? The jacket also comes in a white shade, and is perfect for throwing on on chilly summer evenings or even during the daytime. It feels really light and comfortable as it’s got a little bit of stretch in it which I totally appreciate during the summer, and the quality feels great too! It’s also got light shoulder pads which makes it look even smarter.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Invest in linen and natural fibres

For years I’d stayed away from linen because it’s such a nightmare to iron. However, it’s totally worth the (slight) hassle as it’s just so breathable, making it perfect for summer. There are so many different linen items on the high street this year, and I couldn’t resist picking up this pair of paper bag waist linen trousers in the summer sales. It looks smart and pairs really nicely with the lace jacket.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Whatever you do, wear light coloured clothing

Dark colours, such as black and navy, absorb light and turn this into heat so it’s best to stay clear of darker shades during the summer months. Stick to light colours such as white or pastel shades that will reflect the sunlight and keep you cool.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Dresses and skirts are your best friends

I’ve pretty much got a trousers ban when it comes to dressing smart in summer – the only trousers I dare to wear in summer are very flowy, casual ones. So when it comes to dressing smart in summer, it’s much more practical, comfortable and smart to stick to dresses and skirts.

What’s your top top for smart styling in summer?

Fabulous Ways To Make Yourself Look Younger | Guest Post

Getting older is inevitable and it can be quite disappointing to see your looks fade over time. Many people opt for surgery in order to keep themselves looking younger for longer, but this can be quite expensive making it unaffordable for most. The good news is that there are plenty of ways to make yourself look younger without having to fork out a lot of cash for the surgery.

In this article, we are going to take you through some of the fabulous ways that you can make your skin look great again and update your look. Make sure to keep reading if you’d like to find out more.

Sleep More

Our first answer to making yourself look younger again is to have some more sleep. You wouldn’t believe the difference that a little bit more sleep can actually do for how young your skin looks. It’s not always easy to get a full night of sleep especially when you have a family to look after and a job to get to but there are a few ways around this. If you can get yourself to bed even an hour earlier each night, you might find that you’ll wake up feeling refreshed and happier. Try to get more sleep each night and you’ll find that you look a bit younger in no time.

Improve Your Beauty Routine

Another fabulous way to keep your skin looking healthy and give off a younger vibe is to improve your beauty routine. You need to take care of your skin as you age and use specific products to help hide the signs of ageing. For example, you can make use of anti-ageing serums. There are some amazing creams that can actually hide the signs of wrinkles and combat the loss of firmness that you might be seeing in your skin. These serums are absolutely life-savers and you’ll be wondering why you never tried them before. If you want to be able to look younger as time goes on, make sure to look online for anti-ageing serums.

Eat More Oily Fish

This next tip might seem a little strange, but you will actually find that eating more oily fish will help to keep your skin from getting too dried out. If you don’t like fish or you would rather not eat it, then you can also give fish-oil supplements a try which will give you some of the fatty acids that you need to keep your skin looking great. The science behind this suggests that the oily fish can keep your skin-cell-membranes working properly and keep you healthy. This will keep your skin hydrated and you’ll look younger without having to do much at all really.

Drink More Water

We are always told that we should drink more water and if you want to make yourself look younger then you need to get around to doing this sooner rather than later. It is recommended by health professionals that you should be drinking around 6 to 8 glasses of water a day or in simple terms – 2 litres. This water will do everything that it can to make your body refreshed and hydrated. Not only will your body become hydrated, but you’ll also see your skin starting to look a lot healthier. With healthy skin, people will start to mistake you for being younger than you actually are which is what you are hoping for!

Cleanse Your Face

Do you wear your make up to bed? You need to stop this right away as cleansing your face should be one of your daily skin care rituals. Looking younger is not always easy so you need to do everything you can to actually make an impact. Make sure to go out and buy yourself a good cleanser and get into the habit of taking time every day to get rid of the grime and your make up. Once you get into this routine, you’ll find that your clear skin makes you look a little bit younger and you’ll feel a lot better.

Exercise More

As we get older it can become more tempting to avoid any form of exercise. It is true that our bodies are not always what they used to be, and it can be harder to do the exercises that we would do when we were younger. The good news is that there are plenty of exercise activities that you can get up to even when you are a little older. Why not try out yoga or swimming which will give you the exercise you need without having to do too much. Once you start exercising you’ll notice your body changing a little and you’ll look a lot younger in your face.

Quit Smoking

Smoking is an addiction and many people find it hard to quit especially when they’ve been doing it their whole life. The sad truth is that smoking makes you look a lot younger and it can have a massive effect on your skin and your teeth. To battle this, you should consider really making an effort to quit smoking or at least cut down a little. If you find it really hard then you could try smoking patches or switching to a vape which will mimic the action of smoking without causing the damage. If you want to make yourself look younger and your skin healthier then you should try to quit smoking as soon as possible.

Change Your Makeup

As we get older, the way that we dress and apply our makeup changes. Although this is normal, you might find that your more recent makeup choices are actually making you look older than you are. There are plenty of different makeup brands out there and if you try something new you might find that it affects how old you look. Take a look online at some of the tutorials as there are many that will help you make your skin look better and you’ll look a lot younger in the process.

Get Your Hair Cut

Our final tip for you when you want to make yourself look younger is to do with the way that you have your hair. Although your haircut it totally up to you, you will find that certain hairstyles make you look a little older than you might want. A good way of getting around this is to visit a hairdresser and ask for some advice on a haircut that will make you look younger. They will know what to do and you’ll be so happy with your new style. Make sure to try this out if you want to make yourself look younger.

If you really want to make yourself look younger, then you need to think about taking on board our advice. You should think about things like getting your hair cut or investing in some new anti-ageing creams. If you take the time to make these small improvements to how you look after yourself and your skin, then you will start to see results sooner rather than later. Remember that you don’t have to look older than you are, there are plenty of ways that you can keep your skin hydrated and looking healthy. Get exercising, drink more water every day and you’ll soon find that people start to question your age![/pipdig_padded_text]

How To Have Thick, Fabulous Hair (Even In The Summer Heat!)

I must admit, having thick, fabulous hair in the summer heat can be quite a challenge! Especially with the super warm weather we’ve been having lately. Today I’ll be sharing some of the ways in which you can ensure great hair days and avoid flat, lifeless hair, all year round.

1. Take a look at your diet

Your body needs the right nutrients in order to produce thick, healthy hair so it’s important to take a look at your diet if you’ve noticed that your hair has become thinner or more brittle lately. Essential fatty acids are especially important when it comes to your hair, and it’s also important to ensure you are including the right amount of Vitamin D, Zinc, and Iron in your diet. Fish, eggs, leafy greens such as spinach, as well as nuts and seeds are all different foods that can promote healthy hair growth.

2. Consider a hair transplant

Hair transplants are worth considering if you have suffered from hair loss or thinning hair, and can really help boost your confidence. It’s important to get the treatment done at a reputable clinic, such as the Harley Street Hair Clinic who specialise in FUE hair transplants procedures. The procedures at the clinic are performed by highly trained and experienced doctors, and the FUE procedure involves extracting hair follicles from a ‘donor area’, such as the back of the neck, and transferring this to the scalp. The recovery time for this is short and the risk of any complications is low.[/pipdig_padded_text]

3. Use the right products

The products you use on your hair can have a big impact on its texture and thickness. Avoid hair care products that contain ingredients such as Sodium Laurel and Laureth Sulfates. These are cleaning agents found in many shampoos that can weaken your hair as it strips it from its natural oils. It is also recommended to avoid washing your hair everyday as this can wash away the hair’s natural oils that protect the hair. Instead, use a dry shampoo between washes to prolong the number of days you can go without washing your hair. Apart from keeping your hair looking fresh, dry shampoo is also great for making your hair look more thick and giving it volume.

4. Treat your hair with care

Ultimately, treating your hair with the tender loving care it deserves – being gentle with it when its wet, using a wide toothed comb instead of a brush and reducing the use of heating products – will help your hair grow thicker and healthier and is one of the best ways of having fabulous looking hair, all year round![/pipdig_padded_text]

Best Places In Spain To Visit This Summer

Although the weather has been pretty warm this summer, there’s something special about going away to a different country, exploring a new place and enjoying the weather too! Spain is a very popular holiday destination – and for good reason! Today I’ll be sharing the best places in Spain to visit this summer.

Whether it’s a beach holiday or a city break that you’re after, there are many ways in which you can enjoy cheap holidays to Spain this year.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Whether it’s the Spanish culture, art or beaches that you’re after – Barcelona has it all! The Sagrada Familia is of course one of Barcelona’s most popular attractions. The magnificent architecture of this Roman Catholic church is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and looks spectacular in photos (hence, this would be a perfect Insta-spot!). If you’re after a bit of shopping head to Las Rambla – 1.2km of pure shopping heaven – whilst if you prefer to relax on the beach, Barcelona has plenty of gorgeous beaches to choose from, such as the Nova Icaria Beach which is great if you enjoy water sports, and Bagotell Beach if you prefer a slightly quieter alternative.[/pipdig_padded_text]

One definite must-visit place in Spain is of course its capital, Madrid. Although Madrid is situated right in the centre of Spain, and therefore has no beaches for you to enjoy, it’s the perfect place to visit if you love warm weather and exploring a different culture. Firstly, there are plenty of museums for you to enjoy such as the Prado National Museum for art-lovers, as well as the majestic Royal Palace of Madrid for history and architecture lovers (you can also snap some pretty great photos in the courtyard!). Madrid’s Parque del Retiro is also well worth a visit, whether it’s to go on a relaxing stroll through the park or enjoy a family picnic, this is one of Madrid’s largest parks and one that definitely won’t disappoint.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Spain’s third largest city, Valencia is another great holiday destination in Spain. The Mercado Central, or Central Market is popular with both locals and foreign visitors due to its fresh products and high quality produce. The City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia is another must-do on any trip to Valencia. Here you can find five main elements; the Hemisfèric (IMAX cinema with a huge 900 metre concave screen), the Umbracle (a fantastic vantage point), the Príncipe Felipe Science Museum (a centre of interactive science), the Oceanográfico (the largest aquarium in Europe with over 500 marine species – a great place for animal lovers!) and the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía Opera House.[/pipdig_padded_text]

6 Reasons Why I Would Love To Visit Iceland

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love winter, and any time the temperature goes above 25°C I always joke that I should move to ICELAND. I am seriously not made to cope in hot weather! However, apart from the cooler weather conditions, Iceland has so so much to offer and it’s one of the places I would most like to visit in the whole entire world.

A quick Google image search of Iceland should give you enough reasons to want to visit Iceland asap, but if you’re still unsure, I’ll be sharing my top 6 reasons why I would love to visit Iceland – who knows, you might feel inspired!?[/pipdig_padded_text]

Reason 1: The Scenic Mountains

Most of my favourite places in the world that I have visited so far have one thing in common – amazing scenery. And if it’s scenery that you’re after, Iceland has some pretty breath-taking ones to offer, especially with the mountains. Iceland has many scenic mountain landscapes that would make for some pretty amazing Insta shots too! The multi-coloured mountains (YES, REALLY!) of Landmannalaugar are made from rhyolite rock, due to the volcanic activity in the area, which make for magnificent multi-coloured mountain views with pinks, purples, yellow and green shades. Dreamy.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Reason 2: The Festivals

If it’s festivals, parties and celebrations that you’re after, Iceland has loads of events planned all throughout the year. Festivals in Iceland include those related to music, such as Iceland Airwaves that takes place in November and Secret Solstice in June, as well as camping festivals (locals love the outdoors, and it’s easy to see why with scenery like that!) to smaller country fairs and local festivals around the country. If you’re after BIG celebrations, it’s worth heading over to the country for the Independence Day celebrations on 17th June – and of course, Christmas is also a fantastic time to visit with plenty of things to do to get you into the Christmas spirit, such as Christmas markets and ice skating.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Reason 3: The Midnight Sun

Possibly one of the only things I actually do like about summer is the fact that we get long, summer nights with plenty of light. However, Iceland, situated just below the Artic Circle, takes things a step or two further and enjoys 24 hour daylight from mid-May to late July. Head over to Iceland between the 20th and the 22nd of June to enjoy the unique summer solstice, which marks the time when the sun sets just after midnight and rises again before 3am.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Reason 4: The Northern Lights

Of course, a visit to Iceland would not be complete without catching a glimpse of the Northern Lights – and Iceland is in fact one of the best places in the world to admire this amazing phenomenon. So if you’re not planning on visiting Iceland during the bright summer months, the Northern Lights should still give you a great reason to visit Iceland between September to mid-April, when they are most commonly seen. The northern lights can be seen from the Icelandic capital, Reykjavík on a clear winter. However, if you’re feeling adventurous then head out of the capital, to more rural areas for the chance to get an even better view. There are also plenty of tours that take you to some pretty special spots where you can see the Northern Lights, which are definitely worth looking into.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Reason 5: The Icelandic Wildlife

One of my favourite things about visiting a new place is discovering its wildlife – and the wildlife in Iceland is pretty spectacular with a diverse range of different species. From the beautiful and charming Icelandic horses – which are renowned for being particularly sociable, curious and intelligent – to the incredibly cute puffins, which I am obsessed with! Puffins are a particularly rare species of bird to spot, however 60% of the world’s population of Puffins breed in Iceland’s magnificent cliffs. The birds’ arrival in April and May marks the beginning of summer, and they can be seen around the country until around August. Whale watching is another popular activity in Iceland as there are over 20 different types of whale that can be spotted in the Icelandic waters.

Reason 6: The Incredible Food

When it comes to environmental awareness and healthy farming practices, Iceland definitely comes out on top, and this means that the quality of the food in Iceland, particularly the meat and fish is incredible. Visit local restaurants and enjoy the taste of Icelandic fish species, such as the Saltfiskur or the Harðfiskur. Slow roasted lamb in Iceland is also renowned to be some of the best in the world since lambs in Iceland are not fed grains or given growth hormones. Instead, they are free to roam outdoors and enjoy a natural diet that includes grass, moss and berries. If you’re interested to try a very traditional meal, Hákarl or fermented shark could be an option. Although it’s not so commonly enjoyed by locals nowadays, it’s still a traditional food that is characteristic of the country.[/pipdig_padded_text]

There are just 6 of my top reasons to visit Iceland but as you can imagine, there are many, many more reasons to visit this beautiful country too. With it being just a 3 hour flight away from London, there’s no excuse not to hop on a plane and explore this breath-taking country for yourself. It’s definitely on my bucket list!

The Face Scrub That Smells Like Chocolate Milkshake & Works Like A Dream

When it comes to my skincare routine, I normally like to stick to the same products – ones I’ve tried, tested and ones that I know work with my skin type. However, I sometimes come across a gem that blows my mind and I instantly know that I just have to include into my skincare regime – and share it on the blog, on course!

A couple of months ago, I received the Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Exfoliating Facial Scrub in a Latest in Beauty Box. I must admit, I don’t regularly use facial scrubs as most of them tend to leave my face feeling dry and tight. However, I knew that from using other products from the Palmer’s Cocoa Butter range, this one should be moisturiisng and I was curious to give this one a go.

After having a closer look at the product, I discovered that it’s actually packed with nourishing ingredients such as Cocoa Butter (of course!), and Evening Primrose Oil – 2 ingredients that I love in my skincare products. It also contains cocoa powder and finely crushed walnut shell to gently buff away any dead skin cells and help reveal smooth, glowing skin.

One thing I really love about the product is the scent – it smells exactly like a malty chocolate milkshake. Apart from that, the exfoliating particles are really fine so it feels really gentle when massaged onto the skin, and there’s no dry and tight feeling on my skin after using this. It leaves my skin feeling super soft and looking radiant.  I love following this with a hydrating mist such as the First Aid Beauty Vitamin Hydrating Mist or a light moisturiser like the L’Oreal Hydra Genius Aloe Water.
