Madrid

One definite must-visit place in Spain is of course its capital, Madrid. Although Madrid is situated right in the centre of Spain, and therefore has no beaches for you to enjoy, it’s the perfect place to visit if you love warm weather and exploring a different culture. Firstly, there are plenty of museums for you to enjoy such as the Prado National Museum for art-lovers, as well as the majestic Royal Palace of Madrid for history and architecture lovers (you can also snap some pretty great photos in the courtyard!). Madrid’s Parque del Retiro is also well worth a visit, whether it’s to go on a relaxing stroll through the park or enjoy a family picnic, this is one of Madrid’s largest parks and one that definitely won’t disappoint.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Valencia

Spain’s third largest city, Valencia is another great holiday destination in Spain. The Mercado Central, or Central Market is popular with both locals and foreign visitors due to its fresh products and high quality produce. The City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia is another must-do on any trip to Valencia. Here you can find five main elements; the Hemisfèric (IMAX cinema with a huge 900 metre concave screen), the Umbracle (a fantastic vantage point), the Príncipe Felipe Science Museum (a centre of interactive science), the Oceanográfico (the largest aquarium in Europe with over 500 marine species – a great place for animal lovers!) and the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía Opera House.[/pipdig_padded_text]

6 Reasons Why I Would Love To Visit Iceland

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love winter, and any time the temperature goes above 25°C I always joke that I should move to ICELAND. I am seriously not made to cope in hot weather! However, apart from the cooler weather conditions, Iceland has so so much to offer and it’s one of the places I would most like to visit in the whole entire world.

A quick Google image search of Iceland should give you enough reasons to want to visit Iceland asap, but if you’re still unsure, I’ll be sharing my top 6 reasons why I would love to visit Iceland – who knows, you might feel inspired!?[/pipdig_padded_text]

Reason 1: The Scenic Mountains

Most of my favourite places in the world that I have visited so far have one thing in common – amazing scenery. And if it’s scenery that you’re after, Iceland has some pretty breath-taking ones to offer, especially with the mountains. Iceland has many scenic mountain landscapes that would make for some pretty amazing Insta shots too! The multi-coloured mountains (YES, REALLY!) of Landmannalaugar are made from rhyolite rock, due to the volcanic activity in the area, which make for magnificent multi-coloured mountain views with pinks, purples, yellow and green shades. Dreamy.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Reason 2: The Festivals

If it’s festivals, parties and celebrations that you’re after, Iceland has loads of events planned all throughout the year. Festivals in Iceland include those related to music, such as Iceland Airwaves that takes place in November and Secret Solstice in June, as well as camping festivals (locals love the outdoors, and it’s easy to see why with scenery like that!) to smaller country fairs and local festivals around the country. If you’re after BIG celebrations, it’s worth heading over to the country for the Independence Day celebrations on 17th June – and of course, Christmas is also a fantastic time to visit with plenty of things to do to get you into the Christmas spirit, such as Christmas markets and ice skating.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Reason 3: The Midnight Sun

Possibly one of the only things I actually do like about summer is the fact that we get long, summer nights with plenty of light. However, Iceland, situated just below the Artic Circle, takes things a step or two further and enjoys 24 hour daylight from mid-May to late July. Head over to Iceland between the 20th and the 22nd of June to enjoy the unique summer solstice, which marks the time when the sun sets just after midnight and rises again before 3am.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Reason 4: The Northern Lights

Of course, a visit to Iceland would not be complete without catching a glimpse of the Northern Lights – and Iceland is in fact one of the best places in the world to admire this amazing phenomenon. So if you’re not planning on visiting Iceland during the bright summer months, the Northern Lights should still give you a great reason to visit Iceland between September to mid-April, when they are most commonly seen. The northern lights can be seen from the Icelandic capital, Reykjavík on a clear winter. However, if you’re feeling adventurous then head out of the capital, to more rural areas for the chance to get an even better view. There are also plenty of tours that take you to some pretty special spots where you can see the Northern Lights, which are definitely worth looking into.[/pipdig_padded_text]

Reason 5: The Icelandic Wildlife

One of my favourite things about visiting a new place is discovering its wildlife – and the wildlife in Iceland is pretty spectacular with a diverse range of different species. From the beautiful and charming Icelandic horses – which are renowned for being particularly sociable, curious and intelligent – to the incredibly cute puffins, which I am obsessed with! Puffins are a particularly rare species of bird to spot, however 60% of the world’s population of Puffins breed in Iceland’s magnificent cliffs. The birds’ arrival in April and May marks the beginning of summer, and they can be seen around the country until around August. Whale watching is another popular activity in Iceland as there are over 20 different types of whale that can be spotted in the Icelandic waters.

Reason 6: The Incredible Food

When it comes to environmental awareness and healthy farming practices, Iceland definitely comes out on top, and this means that the quality of the food in Iceland, particularly the meat and fish is incredible. Visit local restaurants and enjoy the taste of Icelandic fish species, such as the Saltfiskur or the Harðfiskur. Slow roasted lamb in Iceland is also renowned to be some of the best in the world since lambs in Iceland are not fed grains or given growth hormones. Instead, they are free to roam outdoors and enjoy a natural diet that includes grass, moss and berries. If you’re interested to try a very traditional meal, Hákarl or fermented shark could be an option. Although it’s not so commonly enjoyed by locals nowadays, it’s still a traditional food that is characteristic of the country.[/pipdig_padded_text]

There are just 6 of my top reasons to visit Iceland but as you can imagine, there are many, many more reasons to visit this beautiful country too. With it being just a 3 hour flight away from London, there’s no excuse not to hop on a plane and explore this breath-taking country for yourself. It’s definitely on my bucket list!

The Face Scrub That Smells Like Chocolate Milkshake & Works Like A Dream

When it comes to my skincare routine, I normally like to stick to the same products – ones I’ve tried, tested and ones that I know work with my skin type. However, I sometimes come across a gem that blows my mind and I instantly know that I just have to include into my skincare regime – and share it on the blog, on course!

A couple of months ago, I received the Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Exfoliating Facial Scrub in a Latest in Beauty Box. I must admit, I don’t regularly use facial scrubs as most of them tend to leave my face feeling dry and tight. However, I knew that from using other products from the Palmer’s Cocoa Butter range, this one should be moisturiisng and I was curious to give this one a go.

After having a closer look at the product, I discovered that it’s actually packed with nourishing ingredients such as Cocoa Butter (of course!), and Evening Primrose Oil – 2 ingredients that I love in my skincare products. It also contains cocoa powder and finely crushed walnut shell to gently buff away any dead skin cells and help reveal smooth, glowing skin.

One thing I really love about the product is the scent – it smells exactly like a malty chocolate milkshake. Apart from that, the exfoliating particles are really fine so it feels really gentle when massaged onto the skin, and there’s no dry and tight feeling on my skin after using this. It leaves my skin feeling super soft and looking radiant.  I love following this with a hydrating mist such as the First Aid Beauty Vitamin Hydrating Mist or a light moisturiser like the L’Oreal Hydra Genius Aloe Water.
