How To Have The Most Relaxing Spring Night In

Unwinding and treating yourself to a pamper night in winter is pretty easy – run yourself a bath, light a scented candle and cosy up in a onesie. However, as the weather starts to warm up in spring, I’m less prone to a hot bath and always look for an alternative to having the perfect night in.

Today I’ll be sharing some of my essentials for having the most relaxing spring night in – sans a Lush bath bomb/scented candle/cosy onesie.

A cute pair of spring pyjamas is a must-have for a relaxing night in – there’s no way you can fully relax if you’re still wearing the same outfit you wore to work. Anyone who knows me will know that I am obsessed with Mr Men/Little Miss merch (25 going on 5) and I am currently loving this Little Miss Princess Pyjama Set from Matalan, which is an absolute bargain at just £15 and is perfect for this time of year as it comes with a t-shirt and a pair of comfy leggings. In fact, Matalan have a fantastic range of good quality spring/summer pyjama sets and nightwear at such affordable prices. I love the look of the Pink Panther ‘Feline Sleepy’ pyjama set and the heart print cotton short pyjama set is perfect for summer.

Making a cup of tea in one of your favourite mugs is a great way of unwinding on a night in. I personally love Yorkshire Tea Decaf in the evenings. If it’s not that, then I’m usually sipping on a cup of herbal tea. Peppermint and chamomile teas are great for relaxing in the evenings. The Bluebird Tea Co. also make a really lovely herbal tea blend called ‘Dozy Girl’ which contains chamomile, rose petals and lavender – the perfect night-time treat. Looking for more tea-spiration? We spend so much time staring at our screens – whether that is our phone, tablet or laptop – and a night in is the perfect time to enjoy a little digital detox. Treating yourself to a new book (or a magazine if you’re after something a bit lighter to read) is a great way of switching off from technology for a few hours. I personally enjoy reading books that are lighthearted and funny – especially when I want to relax. ‘My Not So Perfect Life’ by Sophie Kinsella is the perfect example of this. A relatable character, great storyline and plenty of laugh out loud moments!

 

For me, no spring night in is complete without a relaxing beauty regime. I find that taking the time to treat my body and skin to the care it deserves can leave me feeling so refreshed. Starting with a face mask, I have been really enjoying the L’Oreal Pure Clay Glow Mask which contains a blend of clays and red algae extract that leaves my skin feeling so smooth and healthy. I also use the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate on my skin every night and I find that it’s the perfect addition to my skincare routine all year round. The concentrate contains a blend of essential oils, including soothing lavender and is absorbed into the skin almost instantly. It then works its magic overnight so you can enjoy a smooth and bright complexion when you wake up in the morning.

Moving on to my hands and body, I love applying the L’Occitane Pivoine Flora Hand Cream to keep my hands feeling soft (and smelling great!). My number one recommendation for a relaxing body lotion on a night in is the Lush Sleepy Body Lotion. I first tried this body lotion back in 2016, and I have repurchased this a number of times since then. Sleepy body lotion contains lavender and oat milk and smells INCREDIBLE. I love using lavender based products in the evening, so this one is perfect. It’s also been formulated to sink into the skin quickly, so there’s no need to wait around for it to get absorbed before slipping into your PJs.

Finally, I always like to add a few drops of lavender oil to the under side my pillow, which helps me to relax even further and ensures a great night’s sleep!
