Favourite Healthy(-ish) Snacks For A Sweet Tooth

Here’s a fact you may not have known about me: I have got the biggest sweet tooth in existence. No matter how hard I try, no meal is complete without a little something sweet afterwards, and if I’m craving food throughout the day it’s normally something sugary!

However, as much as I love my Milkybar Buttons and Love Hearts (who remembers those!?), I’ve recently been trying to substitute my unhealthy sweet addiction with slightly healthier alternatives. I love looking through healthy food websites such as Real Foods for healthy snack inspiration. Today I’ll be sharing some of my favourite sweet treats that I’ve been loving.

Frozen Watermelon

There’s nothing quite so refreshing as a fresh piece of watermelon on a warm summer’s day. However, place a few watermelon cubes in the freezer for a couple of hours and you’ll be left with an even more refreshing sweet snack! Watermelons are packed with antioxidants and because they are made up of 90% water, they’re a great way to stay hydrated when the weather is warm.

Dried Mango

Another one of my favourite snacks is dried mango because it just tastes sooooo sweet and tasty! They are especially perfect for those days when I am craving a packet of sweets as they do an amazing job at satisfying a sweet tooth. Mangoes also have several health benefits – they promote eye health due to a high concentration of Vitamin A, aid digestion, and boost the immune system thanks to the generous amounts of Vitamin C!

Dried Blueberries

Can you tell that I just love dried fruit? Although I tend to enjoy eating dried mango as a snack on its own, I find that dried blueberries are just a little bit too tangy for that. However, I love sprinkling dried blueberries on my porridge in the morning, especially my 4-ingredient healthy chocolate porridge! Apart from adding an extra sweet/tangy flavour, blueberries are a great source of Vitamin C, Vitamin K and Manganese.

Fruit Teas

I find that fruit teas are a great way of satisfying my cravings without reaching for the sweets cupboard. Teas that contain sweet fruit such as strawberries, raspberries or even other things like peppermint or ginger are great for a mid-afternoon pick-me-up, and you can even get chocolate flavoured black teas (which taste better than they sound, I promise!). You can check out some of my favourite sweet teas in this post.
