Rimmel Super Gel Collection

Nothing quite beats a relaxing pamper night complete with a face mask and a set of freshly painted nails. Rimmel recently launched their collection of Super Gel nail polishes, which claim to give a gel-like finish with no UV lamp necessary, and I was super excited to receive these in the post!

I’m a big fan of drugstore nail polishes and Rimmel definitely make some of the best nail polishes on the high street. The Super Gel range of nail polishes currently comes in 28 shades ranging from nudes to pinks to more bold colours such as blue and orange.

The Super Gel range applies just like a regular nail polish but has a shiny gel-like finish and claims to last up to 14 days on the nails. You first start by applying the gel colour of your choice on your nails, then apply the Super Gel top coat to activate the gel polish. I have gorgeous summery shades here (L-R): ‘Dive Right In’, a bright turquoise, ‘Purple Splash’, a pastel blue-lavender, ‘Coral Queen’, a bright orange-coral shade, ‘Sun Fun Daze’, a bright fuchsia, and ‘Flamenco Beach’, a bright summery red. How cute are the shade names!?

As I am currently loving pastel shades on my nails, I decided to give ‘Purple Splash’ a whirl and find out whether it lives up to its claims. I applied the recommend two coats of nail polish on to my nails and I was pleased to see that this gave an opaque finish, especially for such a light colour. I then applied the top coat, which I found left a very shiny and indeed gel-like finish that I really liked. Unfortunately some of my nails are quite uneven, so I found that the nail polish did start to chip after a few days. However, this only really happened on any uneven nails and the nail polish lasted much longer before chipping on my better nails!

For just £5.99 I would recommend picking up a couple of these on your next trip to Boots. They’re also currently on offer for 3 for 2 (so you can pick up 2 colours and get the top coat free!).
