L’Oreal Infallible Foundation | Does It REALLY Fight Makeup Meltdown?

L'Oreal Infallible Foundation review

For the past few summers, I’ve been on the hunt for a long-lasting foundation that won’t melt off my face on warmer days. After doing a bit of research and asking for your recommendations on Twitter, I decided to give the L’Oreal Infallible Foundation a try, and see whether it lived up to all its ‘long-wearing’ claims.

Although I love my NARS Sheer Glow Foundation, I like to save that for special occasions so I’ve been on the hunt for a cheaper foundation that I can use just for everyday. The L’Oreal Infallible Foundation claims to give a long-wearing high coverage that hides the appearance of fatigue and blemishes. It also promises to last up to 24 hours on the skin and ‘fight makeup meltdown’, whilst leaving a fresh, ‘just applied’ finish on the skin with the help of a hydrating Hyaluron complex. I’m a big fan of the L’Oreal makeup range so I knew I should expect good things from this foundation – but how did it perform?

When I headed to Boots to pick my shade I was surprised to see that I couldn’t find the right match for my skin tone. My skin seemed to be somewhere in between the lightest shade ‘015 Porcelain’ and the next shade ‘120 Vanilla’.  As it’s summer and I don’t mind going for a slightly more bronzed look I decided to go for ‘120 Vanilla’ and this looks absolutely fine as long as I blend it well into my skin. However, I’d have loved for there to be a perfect match for my skin (For your reference – Rimmel: Ivory, NARS: Deauville, MAC: NW15).

The consistency of the L’Oreal Infallible Foundation is perfect – not too runny and not too thick. It’s got a lovely texture which makes it very easy to blend whether you’re using your fingers, a brush or a sponge. I also noticed that it is very pigmented and a little bit of the product goes a long way, which is great as there’s nothing worse than having to apply a lot of product to your face in the warmer wearther. Once this is blended into the skin, it does not feel thick or heavy at all. Instead, it feels really fresh and hydrating – I’d even go as far as saying it feels more like a tinted moisturiser but with the coverage of a really good medium-full coverage foundation.

Fortunately I got this foundation during the heat wave that we’ve had, so I could really put it to the test and see what its performance was like in hot, humid weather. And I’ve got to say, I’ve been really impressed! The foundation actually stayed put on my skin really well, even though I didn’t wear a primer underneath. Even when I got quite warm and sweaty (TMI, soz) the foundation didn’t seem to budge, although I did get quite shiny – not that the foundation stood a chance against that because, well, it was really warm, wasn’t it!?

Overall, I’m really pleased with my purchase and would recommend trying it out if you’re after a long-lasting, medium-full coverage foundation that looks natural and is comfortable to wear. Available for £10.99!
