Makeup Trends I Wouldn’t Normally Try | Bold Lips #RachelTriesMakeup

Although I love experimenting with makeup, I tend to stick to my bronze/gold eye and nude lips combination on a daily basis. In fact, there are a number of beauty trends that I’ve never really properly tried – false eyelashes, colourful eyeshadows, and bold lip colours just to name a few. Therefore, I’ve decided to challenge myself to try out the makeup trends that I would never normally try everyday this week – starting from true, bold lips. Welcome to #RachelTriesMakeup!

I’m quite conservative when it comes to my lipstick choices and I pretty much always stick to nude or pinky-nude lip colours. I was recently sent three matte liquid lipsticks from the Lord & Berry Kissproof Lipstick range which were just a little bit out of my comfort zone – but I decided to embrace this and give them a whirl!

The first shade I decided to try was ‘Pink Pop‘ – a bright pink-purple, which is unlike any other lipstick shade I own. Out of all the three shades, this initially stood out to me as the one I would be least likely to wear, but I was excited to see what it would look like on me. The lipstick is super pigmented and gave me an opaque finish with just one coat. Although it’s not a shade I would normally wear, I think the shade actually looked pretty good and very fun! I don’t think I’d be able to pull off this one as an everyday shade, however I’d consider wearing this for a fun night out!

Next, I decided to try out ‘Brave Red‘ – a true bright (and brave) red. Whilst some people opt for a bold red lip on special occasions and nights out, I normally tend to go for a more pink lip. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever worn a red lip outside before! I was quite surprised when I applied this as I actually quite liked the look of the matte red lip on me, and I would definitely wear this on special occasions (and it would be perfect for Christmas time too!). As with the ‘Pink Pop’, this lipstick gave me an opaque red lip with just one coat – so thumbs up for the great formula.

Judging from the packaging, I thought the final lipstick would be a wearable nude shade – close to what I normally wear. As you might able to tell from the photo above… I was slightly wrong! ‘First Lady‘ is a deep brown shade, which reminds me of a grungy 90s look (which looks great on some people!). Personally, this was my least favourite lipstick out of the three as it applied slightly patchy and it’s definitely a shade I wouldn’t wear as I feel it just didn’t look great with my complexion!

Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post where I’ll be trying out false eyelashes!
