The most eagerly anticipated month for the laziest amongst us is finally here! In honour of March being National Bed Month, today’s guest post features a list of simple steps you can take to spring up your bedroom!
It’s amazing what fresh bedding can do to make your room seem cosier. Altering the duvet covers and pillow cases that adorn your bed can immediately revolutionise your perception of your bedroom. Invariably the centrepiece of your room, the bed needs to make some sort of impact. Whatever your preferences, from plain to graphic, classic to modern, there are a multitude of options to suit everyone.
Re-organising the furniture and items in your room can leave you feeling refreshed. The significance of the composition of your bedroom cannot be overstated and you’d be surprised how much of an impact a zero cost re-arrangement can have. Create more space by opting for multi-purpose furniture, such as a desk that also functions as a nightstand and use things like dressing table mirrors and lights to give the impression of a bigger, more spacious room.
As the foundation and provider for all life on the planet, adding a selection of plants to your room is scientifically proven to have a rejuvenating effect. But, if you’re one of those people who tends to neglect their house plants until it’s too late, don’t worry! Caring for many plants is surprisingly easy. Bonsai trees, for example, only require sunlight, and occasional watering every few weeks to be healthy. Beautiful and low-maintenance, now that’s a winning combination.
Synonymous with spring is the arrival of blossoming flowers, and with it, is the arrival of new scents and smells. An essential to prevent your bedroom from being left stagnant from winter, scents will catalyse the transition into spring. Whether this takes the form of incense, candles or automated plug-in spray is irrelevant.
The thought of investing in artwork is not as expensive as you may have been led to believe. No matter your taste in art, there is something that will appeal to you at a reasonable price. Even the most dedicated of devotees to the old masters of art can admit that purchasing a print for under a tenner is a worthwhile investment. For the casual art fan, it’s a no-brainer. Framing all of the posters, decorative or otherwise, on your wall can mutate what once a mere bedroom, into a gallery. Framing all your new purchases is bound to have a totally transformative effect.
If you are really feeling in the mood to tap into your artistic side, Washi tape is an even more creative way to frame your artwork. Similarly effective on its own, the range of colours and patterns of Washi tape are a sure-fire way to prevent your bedroom from becoming stale and uninspired.
For all of us, the bedroom is a place of sanctuary, and should be treated as such. Making it a space that is as tailored to your own preferences as possible is imperative.
