I must admit, up until around a year and a half ago, I never bothered with highlighters. I thought they were a bit pointless – and why would you want to look shiny anyway? Oh, how times have changed. Nowadays, highlighter is part of my everyday makeup routine, and I just love how a quick sweep of highlighter can add the most beautiful glow to your skin. Here are the 3 cream highlighters that you need in your life.
|L-R: Topshop Glow Stick in ‘Play Up’, Benefit Girl Meets Pearl, Topshop Glow Highlighter in ‘Gleam’|
The Topshop Glow Stick in ‘Play Up’ is the reason I first got into highlighting. This cream-stick highlighter comes in a gorgeous champagne shade and is super easy to use. Simply sweep the stick over the tops of your cheekbones, blend with your fingers and your highlighter is done (and looking amazing!). It only takes a few seconds to apply, works well over powder products and lasts pretty well on the skin too. Full review here.
Benefit Girl Meets Pearl gets nowhere near the amount of attention it deserves in the online world – frequently being surpassed by the Benefit Watt’s Up Cream Highlighter. Girl Meets Pearl is described by Benefit as a ‘liquid pearl luminiser for the face’, and it is beautiful. This comes in a golden-pink shade that is not too golden or too pink – it’s the perfect in-between! It applies really easily, and when blended, this looks really natural on my fair skin. It can also be built up if you want to achieve a more intense highlight. See what it looks like on my skin in my full review.
Another one from Topshop – can you tell I love their highlighters!? This is one that I had my eye on for ages, and it definitely did not disappoint! The Topshop Glow Highlighter in ‘Gleam’ is more gold-toned than the other highlighters I mentioned above. This one looks particularly lovely on fair-to-medium skin tones, and it compliments slightly more tanned skin really well. Like the other two, this one is really quick and easy to apply, and blends really nicely. Available here.
