After five years in the making, the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation was launched in August 2015. Having heard so many amazing things about this foundation I decided to pick one up a few months ago and try out my first ever luxury foundation.
Although I love my drugstore foundations for day-to-day use, I wanted a great foundation that I could reach for on special occasions, so I decided to go for the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation. The foundation promises to provide a weightless, long-lasting and full coverage formula that will instantly conceal any skin problems such as acne, large pores, or pigmentation. The product contains antioxidant Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Filling Spheres and Mushroom Extract which together moisturise, brighten and plump up your skin.
I absolutely love this foundation. However, I’m going to get my one disappointment out of the way first. Before I purchased the foundation, I asked the Makeup Artist on the Charlotte Tilbury counter in Liverpool to colour match me to the right shade. The Makeup Artist matched me to Shade 3, which unfortunately is way too dark for my skin tone and I later found out that I am definitely a Shade 2. I can still get away with wearing this by blending it down my neck, however I would have liked this to be a perfect match for my skin considering the price I paid, so I thought it would be worth mentioning.
Moving on to the things I love about the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation… and there’s a lot to love! Firstly, I love how weightless this feels on the skin – it literally feels like you’ve got hardly any product on your face yet it still provides a medium-full buildable coverage. It doesn’t look cakey at all and covers up most of my imperfections without me necessarily having to use a concealer over the top. The foundation has a natural-looking finish that’s not too dewy and not too matte – it just looks like your natural skin but better. I also noticed that after using this foundation consistently for a week my skin felt softer and more moisturised, which I thought was pretty impressive. I really love how it’s a makeup product packed with some amazing skincare ingredients, and I would definitely recommend trying it out if you’re looking for a new foundation to try.
