MAC Studio Fix Powder Review

MAC Studio Fix Powder Review

Last week I went on a quiet little holiday, so things have been a little bit quiet over on my blog and social media, however rest assured that I’m now back and I’m really excited to be blogging again!

To kick things off, today I’ll be sharing with you one of my all-time favourite makeup products, which I reach for pretty much everyday – and that is the MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation.

Last summer I was on the hunt for a powder which I could use either on its own, instead of a foundation, or over my foundation to add extra coverage, help my makeup last longer, as well as cover up any unwanted summer shine (isn’t that the nicest way of describing sweat!?).  The MAC Studio Fix range has been constantly raved about by fellow bloggers for as long as I can remember, and although I haven’t been too impressed with the Studio Fix Fluid, I was really eager to try out the MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation.

The MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation is a powder foundation, which promises to add coverage and create a matte, velvet texture on the skin, while allowing your skin to breathe.  The powder contains Silica, which absorbs any excess oils in order to maintain a matte finish on your skin, as well as finely milled Talc to provide a smooth, matte finish.  The powder comes with a built-in mirror and flat, round sponge applicator – handy for using on-the-go!

Since getting my hands on this powder last July, I have fallen head over heels in love with it!  I tend to use this mostly over my foundation in order to add extra coverage, especially on bad skin days, and I find that it helps my make up last much longer too.  As the powder is so finely milled, I find that it leaves my skin looking smooth and natural – it doesn’t look cakey at all!  On warmer, summer days I like to use this on its own over a primer as I find that it still adds a decent amount of coverage by evening my skin tone, and is definitely much more comfortable to wear than a heavier, liquid foundation!

Although I’m an NW15 in the Studio Fix Foundation, I strangely found that the Studio Fix Powder in NW20 was a better match to my skin than the NW15 – so that’s something you may want to keep in mind when ordering this online.

The MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation is available for £22 from John Lewis.
