HOW TO GET A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP

Everybody loves to get a good night’s sleep, however there are some nights where this can prove to be quite challenging or pretty much impossible.  However, I’ve found that incorporating a few special additions into my nighttime routine can truly make a difference.

Read on to find out my essentials for getting a good night’s sleep.

1. A soft, fluffy blanket.

As silly as it may sound, snuggling underneath a soft, fluffy blanket at night makes a huge difference to me getting a good night’s sleep – especially in the colder months!  It just instantly makes my bed feel a lot cosier, and it helps me relax!  Primark always have an amazing selection of affordable fluffy blankets of throws.  In fact, the one pictured above cost just £5!  And that’s probably the best £5 I’ve ever spent!

2. A good book.

It can be very tempting to scroll through Twitter and check your Instagram feed right before going to sleep.  However, research found that using your phone at bedtime can prevent you from getting a good night’s sleep and has also been linked to feeling more tired the next day.  So, a great alternative is to read a book!  I’m currently reading ‘Billy and Me’ by Giovanna Fletcher, which I’m really enjoying (I love a good chick lit!).

3. Lush Eau Roma Water.

I previously spoke about this water in a blog post, and also included it in my September Beauty Favourites.  I just can’t stop going on about this toner water from Lush!  I normally spritz this all over my face before going to bed – it helps make my face feel refreshed, and as it’s infused with lavender and rose water, it really helps me to relax and unwind.  It’s also got a lingering lavender scent, which I think is lovely to fall asleep to.

4. Lavender essential oil.

As you can probably tell, I love incorporating some lavender into my nighttime routine!  Lavender essential oil is particularly useful on those nights where I’m feeling anxious, and falling asleep is proving to be impossible.  I simply put 2 drops of essential oil onto a tissue, and tuck the tissue into my pillow case.  This helps me to relax and fall asleep more easily.

5. A scented candle.

One little addition I love incorporating into my nighttime routine is lighting a scented candle while I read in bed.  I find that the candle light helps to create a cosy and warm atmosphere, which is perfect for unwinding in the evenings.  I love the ‘Fairy Dust’ candle by Lily-Flame as it’s light, powdery and kind of floral.

What are your essentials for getting a good night’s sleep? I’d love to know!
