Face masks are an important part of my skin care routine, and I normally aim to use a face mask atleast once or twice a week.  I previously mentioned that I love the Montagne Jeunesse face masks (here and here) as they are very affordable, without compromising on the results.  However, sometimes I don’t have time for a 15-20 minute face mask and would prefer something quicker – which is why I decided to try out the Sanctuary Spa 5 Minute Thermal Detox Mask.

The Sanctuary Spa 5 Minute Thermal Detox Mask is described as a warming charcoal treatment which cleans and purifies the skin, and is especially great for those with oily/combination skin or are prone to breakouts.  Due to its self-heating properties, it opens up the pores so that the charcoal and kaolin clay it contains draw out impurities from deep within the skin.

Following the instructions, I applied a thin layer of the face mask to clean, damp skin and could instantly feel it warming up on my face.  It does not warm so much that it becomes unpleasant – I actually really like this as I could already feel that the face mask would be working its magic on my skin!  It cools back down after a few seconds but I could still feel it working on my skin.  Unlike other clay masks I have tried, this one does not harden on the face (hooray!), and I should also mention that although my skin is quite sensitive and some face masks cause a burning sensation on my skin, this one was completely fine and did not cause any burning whatsoever (double hooray!).

After rinsing the face mask off after five minutes and patting it dry, it left my skin feeling really soft, clean and bright!  It also calmed the redness of any blemishes I had.

I would highly recommend this face mask, especially if you don’t always have time for a full 15-20 minute clay mask, but still want to achieve the cleansing and purifying effects of one!

The Sanctuary Spa 5 Minute Thermal Detox Mask is available from Boots.
