Topshop The Face

Topshop The Face

Last month I published a post all about Topshop’s exciting new makeup launch; The Face Collection (here).

I have been a huge fan of Topshop’s makeup range and could not wait to try out the products from this collection – And today I will be sharing my thoughts on some of the products!

First of all I would like to point out the immensely gorgeous packaging (as if you hadn’t already noticed!?).  All the products from The Face Collection come in super shiny (think: mirror-like) silver boxes.  Inside the boxes, the actual products also come in sleek packaging which rival higher-end brands – Just look at that concealer palette!

First up, let’s take a look at the foundation.

Topshop The Face

Topshop claim the foundation to be the “perfect no make-up foundation” with skin tone adapting properties, and offers a medium coverage with a luminous, silk-like feel and finish (phew!).  The foundation comes in five different shades and as I have rather fair skin (NW15 for MAC foundations) I opted for the lightest shade, Shade 1, and found this to be a good match.  I found it offered a light to medium coverage with a slightly (but not too) dewy finish, which would make it the perfect foundation for those with normal/dry skin.  Having said that, the foundation works pretty well on my combination skin too, especially when powdered.  I should also mention that this foundation comes with a pipette applicator (something I have never encountered with a foundation!) which makes it easy to control exactly how much product you use.  The foundation is on sale for £16 here.

The Face Collection offers two different primers; The Colour Correcting Primer, which is ideal for correcting redness and contains anti-inflammatory ingredients, as well as The Airbrush Primer, a silicone-based primer which blurs away imperfections and reduces the appearance of pores.  Although I don’t suffer from much redness, I could definitely do with some blurring away of the imperfections and so I opted for The Airbrush Primer.  The texture of the primer is a dream to work with.  It blends easily, feels light, and leaves the skin feeling silky and smooth.  The Airbrush Primer and The Colour Correcting Primer are each available for £12 here.

Now, onto what is possibly my favourite product from the whole collection; the concealer!  The concealer comes in two shades, one light (ideal for skin with a pink base), and one dark (ideal for skin with a yellow base).  It claims to be ideal both for hiding under eye circles as well as covering up blemishes – and I would definitely agree with this!  The concealer comes with a pump, which makes it very hygienic, especially considering that you might be applying this to blemishes.  The consistency of this product is pretty much perfect and offers high coverage.  It blends amazingly well both underneath the eyes as well as over any blemishes.  I would normally use two different concealers – one for hiding dark circles and one for covering up blemishes but this concealer does the work for both, and with great results too!  Also, a little goes a long way and I find that half a pump is just enough!  I would highly recommend trying this out.  Available for £10 here.

Finally, the most gorgeously packaged product of the whole collection; The Concealer Palette!  The palette contains three creamy concealers and a translucent powder to set the concealer with, along with a double ended sponge applicator.  The lighter concealer is ideal for colour correcting due to its slightly green tone, the second, more hydrating concealer is ideal for camouflaging under eye circles and the darker concealer is ideal for hiding blemishes.  Of course, you could also mix all three concealers together to create the perfect shade for your skin.  The sleek packaging makes this palette ideal for travelling or popping in your hand bag for on-the-go touch ups!  This is available for £12 here, which, considering that it contains three concealers and a powder makes it great value!

The Face Collection is available in-store and on the Topshop website.

Which product from The Face Collection will you be trying out?
