Topshop Lipstick

I had wanted to try out Topshop makeup for a quite a while after reading lots of positive reviews, especially about their lipsticks.  I don’t own a lot of lipsticks but wanted something new for the summer so I popped into Topshop to see what they had to offer and decided on two summery shades, Macaroon and Ohh La La.

Topshop lipsticks are said to be made in the same factory that produces MAC, but cost just a fraction of the price at £8.  And although Topshop do not offer a very wide range of lipstick shades, they offer a good mix of easy-to-wear everyday shades as well as more bold, dramatic shades.

The two shades I went for, Macaroon and Ohh La La definitely fall into the more easy-to-wear summery shade category – which is why I love them so much!  Macaroon is definitely the more pinky shade.  It is quite bright but not too out-there (it would have to be as I am not a fan of very bright lipstick colours!)  It is definitely a summery colour and I can’t imagine me wearing this during the winter, unless it’s a particularly bright sunny day.  On the other hand, Ohh La La is a coral shade which is definitely more orange than Macaroon.  It is probably my favourite shade out of the two, and is also a bright-yet-subtle shade which is easy to wear and brightens up any makeup look.

Although Topshop lipsticks are not particularly moisturising, I do not find that they dry out my lips, however these two shades in particular go on much better after having moisturised my lips using something such as the Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub and Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant.  Also, they have a reasonably good colour payoff and I found that the lipsticks, especially Macaroon, have a really nice rose scent – not like anything I have ever smelt in a lipstick (and probably not really anyone’s priority when choosing a lipstick either!)

Overall I would recommend Topshop lipsticks and cannot wait to try more shades from their lipstick range as well as their other makeup products!
