Friday Faves | Sharing my current favourite products every Friday!
I love a lot of things about nail polish. I love picking out really nice shades in the shop and imagining what it would look like on my nails, I love painting it on my nails (I find it quite relaxing) and I also love admiring the nail polish on my nails throughout the day, and how pretty they (almost) always look outside in the sunshine!
However, one thing I really hate about nail polish is when it looks really pretty, for about half a day, then starts to chip away :(. Which is why top coat is probably the most important part of painting my nails, because although it doesn’t (normally) add any colour or pretty effect to my nails, it is essential for keeping any nail polish looking freshly painted for as long as possible.
I have tried quite a few top coats, however I always seems to come back to this particular one, the Save The Nail 45 Second Top Coat.
When hunting for a top coat, I always make sure it’s a fast drying one – Don’t we all hate the accidental smudge while waiting for nail polish to dry!? And this top coat really does live up to it’s 45 second claim! In fact, I think it may even dry a bit sooner than that – which is one massive plus for me! Another thing I always look for in a top coat is how long it will help my nail polish to last as opposed to not using any top coat – and I have found that this helps my nail polish to last a considerable number of days longer, on average lasting 6 days which I think is pretty good. However, this would also depend on the quality on the actual nail polish being used.
Save The Nail 45 Second Top Coat is available for £6.95 from Boots, and while it looks blue in the bottle it applies completely clear on the nail and does not interfere with any nail polish colour. It claims to give “super glossy” nails, which I definitely think it does and contains UV absorbers to protect the nail polish colour from fading (especially now in the summer months) and acrylic resin to protect against chipping.
